  1. Noooooooooo! I can no longer make the draft. I suppose I should just go ahead and pre-rank. I start a new job that week, and as I live in Australia, that is actually Friday morning at 9AM for me. If you could move it 2 hours earlier, that would sort me out just right.
  2. I am a big guy, and I know I love it when we get a new big guy on our team. For the exact same reasons as Josh Smith is stating. It's just so helpful to have another rebounder out there. It increases the teams efficiency and creates more fast break opportunities. Also when they are banging down low it opens up more space near the basket for you to operate. I expect Horford to get a LOT of boards, Smiths rebound numbers to dip a little, and his scoring to jump by 3 or 4 points because of Horfords presence.
  3. I prefer either of the weekend slots.
  4. Clarence Gilbert was a really good player for Missouri. Was a bit too undersized (and probably too much of a chucker) to make it in the pros, but it is nice to see him playing somewhere.
  5. I think a tweener is someone who is either the wrong height/weight for his skillset, or is between two positions, in terms of physical size. PG size - 6'1" PG/SG Tweener - 6'2"->6'4" SG size - 6'5"->6'7" SG/SF Tweener - No such thing, just a wing player. SF size - 6'8"->6'11" This is where it get's muddy. You can be a PF at 6'9", but the difference between SF and PF is normally a weight/strength thing. Same with C's.
  6. I was logged in as myself, then I went to the shops. When I returned I came back on hawksquawk and it said: "Welcome chillzatl." It asked me to log out though, so I did and re-logged in and now it is sweet. It just seems like a weird error. I wonder if I would have had chillzatl's access level? Andyway, thought I would bring it up.
  7. Look at the Nets current lineup: PG - Kidd SG - Carter SF - RJeff PF - Krstic C - Magloire 6th man - Marcus Williams Bench - Jason Collins + others So their bench isn't deep, but they currently have a solid player at each of the 5 positions. If they trade RJeff for AK, then who do they play at SF? Does AK play SF? Does AK play PF next to Krstic and push Mags to the bench? Plus you have to take AK's attitude into consideration. I don't think that Rod Thorn is gonna do this deal. Right now he is just waiting for Jermaine O'Neal to fall into his lap.
  8. I finally actually saw this. It was really hilarious, and was also a lot more realistic than most "high school" movies. The soundtrack was bitchin too!

    BOB DYLAN

I am a big Bob Dylan fan, and so I went a fe wmonths ago, last time he passed through my town. But his voice was TERRIBLE, way worse than I've ever heard it. He seemed to have no lung capacity and so he was just spitting out the lyrics. It was nice to actually see the man. And his backing band was good, but I left severely underwhelmed.
  10. I had scheduled two exhibition games, against Bethel and Blackburn, two SIMAI schools of similar average player rating to me. The Tufts Fighting Elephants managed to pull out a couple of resounding victories. We were up by 5, 39 to 34 at the half, against Bethel. We came out firing, and feeding the ball inside to Bledsoe and Quintal for easy scores, leading to a 93-68 win. Last Years' NESCAC Rookie of The Year - PF Jacob Bledsoe led all scorers with 20 points and 7 rebounds, and was ably helped out by Senior Center Alan Quintal with 16 points and 11 rebounds. Our game against Blackburn was even more of a blowout. We led 52 to 28 at halftime and finished the game with 96 points versus their 60. Quintal once again lead Tufts with 20 points and 15 rebounds. A very nice little line. Our freshman center prospect, James Tilson, made a good showing scoring 2 points against Bethel and 5 points with 2 rebounds against blackburn in limited minutes off of the bench. Next up was our first non-conference scheduled game of the season against St Norbert. We were favoured by 7 points going into this game. We won by eight. 58 - 50. It was a low scoring affair, but Quintal was still good for 17 points and 8 rebounds. 1-0 in the games that count! Go Tufts! St Norbert was ahead 27-18 at the half, but Haskins came out in the second and hit some three's to get the blood pumping and we never looked back. The next three games will be against: #4 Cabrini, Suffolk, and Wisconsin-Lutheran. #4 Cabrini will be the big test of this non-conference season. If I win this, then I could go a long way this year, but I figure a close fought loss is more likely.
  11. I think KC and Tampa are definitely worse. Then there is a group of teams like the Texans, the Falcons and the Raiders that are all about the same level. Definitely in the lower echelon of the NFL though.
  12. Thanks for the advice everyone. I will stick with LDT and Portis for now.
  13. This is a fantasy football question, so I post it here in the fantasy forum. I have 4 RB's on my fantasy squad, yet we only start two. They are LDT, Clinton Portis, Edgerrin James and Michael Turner. I have been starting LDT and Portis. However the last couple of weeks James has played out of his skin, while LDT has been producing limited numbers, and Portis has been solid. What do I do? I am afraid of promoting James at LDT's expense, so do I demote Portis? Cause I know if I put Tomlinson on my bench that he will immediately go out and rush for 4 TD's on 350 yards rushing, with 150 yards receiving for 2 TD's and a TD pass. So far Tomlinson has 22 fantasy points, Portis has 27 fantasy points and James has 37 fantasy points from my bench. I suppose I go match up and look at it game to game. Advice?
  14. I think that most people on this board don't want to see Bozeman or Ivey anywhere near a Hawk's uniform again. However, that doesn't mean I am not interested in his whereabouts. My guess would be europe, but perhaps CBA or NBDL?
  15. I didn't sign any of my top three guys. But I did get James Tilson, a 6'9" C from Iowa. He is pretty average across all areas, but has no holes in his game. Oh yeah, and he has insane work ethic. I will just sit him behind my big two for most of this season, and he should be ready to start next season. Although I *DID* promise him 20 minutes a game. But he can backup the PF spot a bit too! Can't wait for those exhibition games to start!
  16. D'Oh, I wanted to see you destroy Humboldt a few more times! It was an interesting rivalry! Now you just need to beat Michigan
  17. Kate Beckinsale makes anything easy to watch.
  18. Sounds good, wish I could make it down.
  19. The Yahoo bball registration is up now. Who is organising this again?
  20. That was the most hilarious thing ever! You actually got that?
  21. The reply I got this time from the honorable mr Kujawski was a little more clear-cut: "Me no likey Tufts Brunon Kujawski" Hehehe, that is just hilarious! I think I may just target my PR prince, Luis Lopez.
  22. The search for a Freshman Center continues. I have four likely candidates: Brunon Kujawksi, a bruiser of a player from the Romanian Junior National Team. I cannot call him, nor do I have the budget for a school visit, because it is so far away, but after sending him information about my program, this was his reply: "Tufts no basket me play there. Brunon Kujawski" Do you think this means "Tufts knows basketball and I want to play there" OR "I will not play basketball at Tufts". I may have to contact his coach and hope his communication skills are better. The other three are Mark Horner (who is now considering another school, so I suppose I am out of the running), Luis Lopez, a Puerto Rican bigman with awesome work ethic, low poast and rebounding but no defense; and Matthew Frary, a 6'6" Center from Pennsylvania, who is pretty much the front runner right now. I might throw some money at Frary and Kujawski and see what happens.
  23. Hopefully we can come through the firey crucible of those first few games a new and powerful foe for the rest of those teams to fear! I am especially looking forward to those games after the allstar break! Lakers, Warriors, Celtics. Should be a fun time!
  24. You seem to have done really well in recruiting! Good work! My plan for recruiting is to wait until the last minute and then snag some DII players that drop (I play in DIII), hopefully ones with good work ethic. It is so hard to sit on your hands and not spend any recruiting money right now though!
