Which isn't much, because there is no real way to tell what the Hawks are thinking.

I have heard that the Hawks may be leaning towards taking Jannero Pargo with the 37th pick. He isn't a big point guard, but he showed that he can play point guard at the Chicago camp. The guy I talked to says that he had an impressive workout with the Hawks, and that the Hawks see him as a three point specialist off the bench (the guy can flat out shoot!).

Well, we have heard Kruger say that they will look for someone with a specialty, so maybe they will.

But, after completing this mock draft, I will say that there will be some decent free agents avaliable afterwards, and if someone falls to them at #37 that shouldn't be there, regardless of position, they should take them and roll the dice on Pargo being a free agent (that goes for Udonis Haslem, also).

Yeah.

Haslem is a guy I've been thinking about as well. I looked at NBADraft.net, and they don't even have him being drafted. Haslem would give the Hawks a big, wide body that can back up SAR at the 4 position. He didn't hurt himself by averaging 15 ppg and 6.7 rpg at the Chicago camp.

Pargo impressed at Portsmouth and at Chicago, apparently. He had 18 assists in one game at the Portsmouth tournament, and he averaged 5.7 apg at the Chicago tournament.

I'm about to put together my mock through the Hawks just to see how everything may fall into place.

#12 JANNERO PARGO

Guard - 6-2 - 164

Senior - 1L - Chicago, Ill. (Neosho County [Kan.] CC/Robeson HS)

*Could'nt find any current stats for '02 season....

As a Junior in 2000-01 Season:

A third-team All-SEC selection by both the league’s coaches and the Associated Press, Pargo was also named to the CollegeInsider.com all-junior college transfer team after averaging 12.3 points, 2.1 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.5 steals a game. He was voted the team’s MVP last season and also shared the free-throw award with Charles Tatum after hitting 43 of 49 attempts (.871)......

Full Bio here

I just wonder IF drafted, would he make the team? With only one pick, why potentially waste it on a guy who'll just get shipped to Europe or worse, cut?....

Doesn't really matter....whoever we draft isn't likely to

make the team and even if he does you can't rely on

37th pick to give you anything more than Hanno gives

us.

I doubt this. This guy is too small. 162? He makes JT and Dickey look like Big men.

Udonnis would be interesting but I doubt we go that route with Smith and others. We need a shooting Sf...

Tayshun Prince....

but I don't know about at 37. The guy can REALLY get on a roll and shoot the hell out of the ball. I watched him DESTROY Illinois and Frank Williams early last season. He dropped 30+ on them and almost helped Arkansas pull off a HUGE upset of an Illinois team that was top 5 at the time. Actually, I think Arkansas got robbed during that game as a charge was called on an Arkansas player with a second or so left on the clock after the player made the basket that would have given Arkansas a one point win. Pargo was INCREDIBLE in that game! He was just comnig down and pulling up from THREE FEET behind the 3pt line and BANG! He must have scored 15 of 20 Arkansas points in a VERY short stretch during crunch time of that game. Just an awesome performance. He had a similar performance in the SEC tournament.

All the above being said, he obviously didn't do that every night so I wonder about his consistency. He is not very big so I don't think he and JT could play together very much at all. He would be fine for spot duty but I don't know if he's worth number 37 overall.

If we are looking for a back-up guard, I wouldn't mind either Pargo or Bremer. Pargo is one of the top shooters in the entire draft. Look at his shooting percentages, pretty impressive. Bremer is not quite the quality of shooter Pargo is but he is a very impressive athlete who can shoot and take the ball to the hole. Bremer would be a great 3rd guard because he can give you time at the point and off-guard. If we are looking for a Free Agent small forward that can shoot how about David Bluthenthal of USC. He had a dissappointing Senior year but he can really shoot the three and he also is a better than average rebounder. The Hawks need to make roster space by moving Kukoc, Glover and EDavis.
