box scores only tell half the story though, anybody have an idea on what he looks like on defense? is he holding opposing players in check?

He's pretty damn good, but he's not a shot blocker and he's foul prone. He's tough though

It's not like we should feel like we no longer need to look for a center. But we now have a NBA-starting caliber center, which we haven't had since Theo left.

I haven't seen anything personally yet, but I've consistently heard he wasn't afraid of a hard foul. Batista has been drawing the same kind of praise as well. I think they'll be the primary center rotation w/ Edwards getting more PT against larger centers (Ming, etc...)

was Predrag Drobnjak all that bad?

I know he had stonefeet and move like molasses in January, but his numbers weren't all that bad and he didn't appear to be too foul prone.

no doubt about it. Drobnjak was a softie who liked jumpers and hacked because he had no real other defensive skills. Zaza is a tough guy who likes to bang inside, and hacks because he is a little too tough and doesn't like giving open layups.

Completely different players.
