Guest
Do we really have a chance to make the playoffs? I think if Toronto losses Clark for nothing they have VERY little depth and will need Vince Carters best season to win the east. The Wizards with Jordan and Ca surely to play more they will be playoff contenders again. Indiana is just alot deeper than us and I think they will have a great season. We will not be able to have a really good record againest this team. Philly needs to get deeper. If they trade Deke for Wells/Davis you can forget them slipping. Boston/NJ should return to the playoffs. Bucks?Big question here.Their situation might be ruined or troubled until either Robinson/Mason are gone or until the coach is fired. Bucks/Philly have already reached their peek. What teams do you think we will beat out?IF you think we will make the playoffs....
jaywalker72
If you took some of those players and put them on the Hawks, I guarantee they wouldn't look half as good as they do on someone else's team. It's normal to think the grass is greener, but I really don't see how some of those teams are vastly better than the Hawks. Some of those teams could just as easily list the Hawks and say "See! We're not much better than even the HAWKS!!!"
Premium Member Diesel Posted June 21, 2002 Premium Member Report Share Posted June 21, 2002 It is going to come down to injuries and coaching. The Wiz could be a surprise team. I was just thinking... what if they reunited Oakley and MJ?? Oakley is what Wash needs to develop toughness in Brown, White, Laettner, and Heywood. Oakley and a PG and the Whiz could be loooking strong. About Detroit... They are going to be good any way you slice it. Coaching got them to where they were. They did well aside from the fact that they have very little. If they could entice Clark to join them... They'd be hard to stop. Clark/Wallace/Cliffy/Stack/PG.... With Barry and White off the bench. One last team that is almost there is INDY. Indiana has so much talent. Miller, Oneal, and Harrington will give people trouble in the East. Reason being is because they are so strong. This is why I stress that we fix our problems. A lot of you here see Theo as being a savior. I watched him play washington last yr and was not impressed. I watched him play half a season 2 yrs ago and was not impressed. I hope he proves me wrong but forr us, he's just fools gold. I would trade him for Heywood/Alexander right now. Traceman
That is ridiculous! What in the hell has Heywood ever done more than one time in a row? Heywood is Stanley Roberts reincarnated. He's a big guy who looks good at times but looks below average most of the time. Courtney Alexander has some talent but not enough talent to trade big for small, particularly when the big is the best shotblocker in the NBA and a former All Star who apparently WANTS to be in the ATL. Besides, I think DJ is going to be better than Alexander anyway! You said you watched Theo play half a season 3 years ago and you weren't impressed. He was an All Star, what did you want him to do other than remain healthy?
KB21
Every team in the East is flawed in some way. New Jersey doesn't have much perimeter shooting nor an interior presence. Boston lacks a big bopper inside that can block shots and give them some inside offense. Orlando lacks an inside presence. Detroit just lacks scoring outside of Stackhouse. Philadelphia lacks chemistry, consistency, and athleticism overall. Charlotte is moving to New Orleans, and that may be a team without a direction. Are they going to keep Baron Davis? They haven't been known to give their star players big contracts. Indiana should be a good team in the East. Toronto is a team no one has to worry about because they are weak at the top (head coach). Atlanta has as good of a chance as anyone to get into the playoffs. In fact, it wouldn't surprise me to see Atlanta do what New Jersey did this year. While they aren't there yet, Atlanta does have the potential currently on the roster to be a complete team: three, maybe four if you include Glover's potential, scorers (JT, SAR, DJ); a defensive stopper in the middle (TR); and good play from bench players (NM, TK, IN, JV or ED). Guest
Don't forget about Ira....He and Theo would do well together in the starting lineup.Dermarr should get better on defense and JT shouldn't have to leave guys open as much...But injury problems are one of the biggest weakness a team can have. ALOT depends on DJ...I like to hope that Nique is helping him on the offensive side of the ball...If Nique can't help DJ then I don't know many others that could. Indiana is going to be tough...They almost beat NJ with O'Neal playing like crap after game 1.This team if was well coached would be the best team in the eastern conference next season. I just don't think we can stay healthy enough.
