Guest Posted November 5, 2002 Report Share Posted November 5, 2002 Big Week for Big Dog NEW YORK, November 4 -- Atlanta’s Glenn Robinson and the Los Angeles Lakers’ Kobe Bryant were today named the Eastern Conference and Western Conference Players of the Week, respectively, for games played Tuesday, October 28 through Sunday, November 3. Robinson, acquired over the summer by the Hawks through a trade with Milwaukee, led his new team to two victories last week by averaging 31.3 points, 7.3 rebounds, 6.0 assists and 2.3 steals. Bryant, who became the first Laker since Magic Johnson in March of 1991 to record consecutive triple-doubles, averaged 29.5 points, 12.3 rebounds, 7.8 assists and 2.3 steals in leading the Lakers’ to a 2-2 record for the opening week. Other nominees for Eastern and Western Conference Players of the Week were Boston’s Paul Pierce, Chicago’s Jalen Rose, Denver’s James Posey, Houston’s Steve Francis, New Jersey’s Jason Kidd, New York’s Allan Houston and Kurt Thomas, Orlando’s Tracy McGrady, Philadelphia’s Aaron McKie and Seattle’s Gary Payton.
