Premium Member Diesel Posted November 27, 2002 Premium Member Report Share Posted November 27, 2002 http://www.nba.com/hawks/chat/babcocktalksdraft_062402.html It's been here all the time. In reply to:Mark (Atlanta): Is Jason Terry the Hawks' PG? Or do you plan on bringing in a PG from outside the organization? Pete Babcock: The answer's not quite as simple as that because it depends on what we're realistically able to do. We like Jason Terry's quickness and scoring ability, and if we were able to add a bigger PG, we would move him to off-guard. If we could add an off-guard, then we'd probably keep him at the PG. Either way, we want to keep him on the floor because he's such an explosive scorer. The dynamic changed when we picked up Big Dog. When we picked up Big Dog, the need for a scorer on the floor decreased. If Babcock could make a trade to bring in a better ball handler, I believe he would. As long as it was allstar caliber. For instance, if LAC was unhappy with the money it was going to pay Miller and wanted a shorter deal with Terry, this would be the time to do the deal... With Atlanta. I say all that to say that JT being traded (us getting rid of some salary) could be a possibility that Babcock is persueing. Fortunately, there are no deals out there right now.. swolehawk2
"It's going to be there for Jason," Babcock said of the money. "I told him that. If he wants it now, we can build in options and things. But if he waits and has a good year, he will get what he wants." I really don't this has changed over 14 games.
