Pirates trade for Matt Morris

I just have one question--why? Pirates are frugal and in last place. Morris is expensive and he has had a 10 ERA for the last 6 weeks. He still has the potential to be a quality starter, so perhaps the Pirates are thinking about next year. I can't imagine why they wouldn't ask the Giants to pay part of his contract, though.
