Gray Mule
The old owned and the prospective new owner should have agreed on the coaching for the team for the upcoming season long ago. This is dumb on everyone's part. The Thrashers apparently have their staff together. They appear to continue to do business as if nothing was taking place, from what I can read in the A.J.C. This is how it should work. The Hawks, however, are on life support, to be generous. They have no chance to persue any free agents, make any trades of any kind, offer new contracts to any of our players who are about to become, and have now become, free agents, meaning any one can sign them for the upcoming season and all Hawks get is an empty slot on the roster. We have a head coach and staff, or do we? Not really. They are here, but they are not working with any kind of guaranteed contract or anything. When the deal does close {Which could happen today or it could happen by Thanksgiving, the way things are going } the new owner could walk in and say to all the front office people and all the coaches, "Thanks for all you have done. Now, you may leave quietly. You no longer work here." Long ago, the old owner and the new owner should have met and came to some sort of agreement. Whether or not the sale goes thru, we both agree to hire these people for this length of time and give them the authority to do their job as best they can, limited but ---- You get the idea. If the sale goes thru, the new owner needs to protect his investment in the team. If the sale fails, the old owners need to protect their investment in the team. Right now, neither side is being protected. The longer this thing drags out, the worse it gets. And, no one is doing anything about it!
