buckeye242424
Two weeks from tonight we tip off for real. Can't say that I'm not anxious and excited....college football has been great this year, but I'm ready for some basketball. My question...we begin the season with 10 of our first 16 games on the road. It's no secret that we struggle on the road. Is this team mature enough and have enough faith in themselves to rebound from a potentially slow start? Something like 4-12, 5-11, 6-10?
Gray Mule
Slow start? Because we're on the road? Sure. It could happen. We have several players with small, nagging injuries. Nothing major, however. Marvin is out / suspended for the first game due to what happened in last season's playoffs. Hawks have been playing a lot of players in their pre season games. This is good. They need to use everyone now to see what we really have on the roster. Establish that team chemestry. But, just like their competition, we haven't REALLY watched this year's team play with anything on the line except maybe a place on the roster or playing time once the season begins in earnest. I have to believe that things are shaping up nicely for the Hawks. For the first time in ages, our starting five from the end of last season are all returning. Some of the maturity we observed in the playoffs will certainly carry over. We have a more experienced bench also. I don't expect miracles. I don't expect this year's team to drop all their road games either. Many of those so called "experts" say Atlanta will end up with a record very close to last year's. I wonder if they are the same ones that said the Falcons would win one game this season? That was the Sporting News, if you care to check. Personally, I believe Atlanta will end up somewhere in the middle of the pack when the final bell tolls - There being eight teams elgible for the playoffs - Meaning the Hawks should be fourth to sixth place in the east. 4-12 would be hard to take if we're going to be competetive. DrReality
You would hope the addition of the vets and the maturity of the young guys would help us on the road. They seem more tenacious.
