Premium Member Diesel Posted August 20, 2003 Premium Member Report Share Posted August 20, 2003 While I was cleaning the harddrive... I ran across an old PTL trailblazer site I used to lurk. I lurked for old time sake. The thought that Reef is on the blocks and that we're dumping salary is interesting to a lot of teams... PTL in particular. One trade I saw... SAR/Theo/ to PTL Wallace, Bonzi To Atlanta. Somebody else said: SAR/Hendu/Nazr to PTL Wallce/Davis to Atlanta... I said to myself... WHY wouldn't we? I mean. If we're simply dumping Salary... Then We could move Theo/CC for say: Person/Lo... JT/Diaw/Person/Wallace/Davis... Now, this team might win some games. BUT even if it didn't... At the end of the year: 35 Million dollars comes out..... We'd have JT/Diaw/DD/Hansen/Lo/ and 35 Million dollars to spend.
Gray Mule
To have some idea about what is really going on ??? Double talk or no talk -- We just don't know. Are we going to try to keep what we have and build? Are we going to trade? If we trade, are we building for this upcoming season? Are we going to tear down to nothing and start over completely? Do we want a bunch of expiring contracts so that we have nothing at the end of the year except money and empty cap space? Do we have a solid plan for the future? Will we be at all competive this season? What about the next one? Do we have a solid core of players to build on? If so, who do we keep and who do we trade? Signing J.T. is a top priority? If so, why have we heard nothing, not even a hint, that they are working on this at all? I know we shouldn't try to negotiate contracts thru the press, but, come on, at least say, "We are talking with J.T. and his agent." Are we going to try to fill the openingas on the roster with free agents, undrafted prospects or who? We must have 12 players and must meet the minimum annual payroll for an N.B.A. team. The deal for the sale is still up in the air. It doesn't seem to have changed the way things were going for the Atlanta Thrashers. We read about what they are doing, why they are doing it, etc. Their life goes on. The Hawks, on the other hand, seem to be in a time warp. There is movement all around them in the N.B.A. yet all we get is silence -- nothing -- nil. Call a press conference and announce, "We have nothing to say. Just wanted everyone to know we are still among the living. We expect to be able to announce something this week - Next week - in three months -- Soon -- " HAWKS FANS DESERVE TO KNOW SOMETHING - ANYTHING!! Premium Member Diesel Posted August 20, 2003 Author Premium Member Report Share Posted August 20, 2003 Yes, it would be nice to have some true communication that explains to us what our goals are... Even if it's just Billy Knight, Stan Kasten or some flunkee coming to the board and telling us what the deal is. I mean, Gosh, I don't trust a word Knight has to say. I say that because I really don't think he or Kasten knows the truth until they get their marching orders. IF the deal were close, AOL would make moves for McDavid knowing that McDavid would take over soon. However, the lack of movement must mean that the deal is NOT close. Maybe Stern has stood up and said... "we won't allow that deal as it is.". Who knows.. BUT Life must go on.
Traceman
way. My post yesterday and your post today both were born of frustration with the entire situation but you sure did state your frustration in a more positive manner! I commend you for being able to express your opinion the way you did. My patience has run out though. I am not a happy fan and unless something changes, I don't think I'm going to be a happy fan any time soon.
