He has proven he can play both 3B and 1B while supplying some power. The Braves have 2 old players starting at 3B and 1B who have proven they are injury prone. Even if they can stay healthy it would still be nice to have a solid player to sub in for them in the 6th or 7th inning a few times a week and he could start at least twice a week in order to rest aging and injury prone Glaus & Chipper.

If (when) either Chipper / Glaus gets hurt he is abouth the best insurance policy you can have and when your counting on 2 old men to be your #3 and #4 hitter you better have some insurance.

A little power for pinch hitting never hurt anyone either.

They've signed Hinske to be the super sub and play 3b/1b and occasional outfield spot starts. Him and Infante make it a versatile and deep bench.
