The Jazz offer sheet may just be a way of forcing Atlanta to pay more: Look at the quick-changing tune of the talented combo guard himself.

Just weeks ago, Terry vowed to the Atlanta press that he wanted to remain a Hawk his whole career, something no other Atlanta franchise player has ever done. He said--even after being pursued by Utah's Kevin O'Connor--that he was sure he'd end up back in Atlanta when all was said and done.

Still, when Terry comes on Salt Lake radio and sings the song about how he wants to play in a Jazz uni and even utters a Beaver Cleaver-esque proclamation that, "Boy, I hope they don't [match]," the fans believe him. Folks, he may just be saying what he is supposed to stay. It just isn't an option for him to go on the air and say, "Yeah, basically I really like Atlanta, but negotiations aren't going well, so we're using the Jazz to force the price up, because we know they'll match in the end."

What would make us really believe that in two weeks his tone has changed from night to day? Did Terry Stotts cut him off in rush hour traffic? Did Shareef Abdur-Rahim forget to send a Labor Day card? Did he decide Atlanta's autumn isn't colorful enough?

Or maybe he's just giving the song and dance.
