I have been doing some reading, and here is some interesting stuff on Byron Scott and Sam Mitchell.

Byron has had some success and has coached in the finals, but he definitely appears to be a mixed bag. On the one hand, he appears to be very adept at identifying his teams strengths and weaknesses and gearing his game plan to those. On the other hand, when what's working goes awry whether it is due to injuries or not, Byron doesn't seem to adjust during the course. The other thing I wonder is if he can win without great point guard play?

Sam Mitchell appears to be another mixed bag. According to this, he has a way of getting a young team to grow up and become a group of men, but he appears to be a weak x's and o's coach and may not be a guy that can get a team to the next level. As the article stated, Sam can help you become competitive, but you will need someone else to get you to that next step.
