Going to Vegas

I'm going to Las Vegas this weekend and will be there when the Blazers visit the Hawks....I was thinking about slamming 1g on the Hawks this Saturday night. I usually wouldn't bet so much but it seems as though they might be due for a win. They have lost 3 in a row at home and seem to matchup well with Portland. What do you guys think? I would bet the moneyline not the spread. So the Hawks just to win.

Something tells me that they won't lose 4 in a row at home but then again I could be wrong. I just feel like they are gonna come out and play for their lives. Joe, Jamal, Al, Smoove, they all have something to prove. The blazers have won 7 in a row on the road. Something tells me that streak has to be snapped sometime and it might happen on Saturday night. Oh it could be 8 in a row cuz they play at Charlotte on Friday night....just wondering what my fellow squawkers think....thanks in advance for your thoughts.:-)

My thought is that I would never wager money on the Hawks, because they're too damned inconsistent from game to game. You never know what you're going to get, so betting $$$ on them is kind of like blindly throwing darts at a board, and I'd rather not do that because money is worth more than that to me. But that's just me. I used to gamble a bit when I was younger, but am not much of a gambler at this point in my life. Having kids makes you tend to realize the value of money I think.

From my gambling experience, if you're really FEELING it and can afford to bet the money, then you should probably bet it. However, if you're finding yourself having to search for reasons or rationalizations as to why you should bet that game, then you should stay away. Don't try and talk yourself into pissing your money away . You've got to believe it's a very solid bet, or don't do it.

That's my take on it anyway. Good luck on it either way.

Your decision has to be your own. But I have to point out that there is no such thing as being "due for a win." Each game has to be evaluated on its own. I know people who bet Miami against the Blazers because they were "due" and lost a boatload of money. You are talking about the team with the 12th best road record (and improving) against the team with the 14th best home record.

At this point in time, the Hawks are so erratic that I strong suggest staying away from any sort of a bet involving them unless you have some inside information. Although I think its safe to say that if the Hawks do win it won't be a blowout, they have no killer instinct so if they ever do get up they will let their foot off the gas and whoever they are playing will crawl back in it.

I was thinkin about betting the moneyline....no way the spread....hawks wouldn't cover the spread, I'd be scared with the spread...just moneyline. I'm staying at a buddy's house that lives there. Watching the game at Bellagio prolly...I like their sportsbook it's pretty cool. Then again I haven't been to Veags for over 5 years so everything is prolly new now anyways.

I've gotten a lot of negative feedback from you guys so I might still bet but maybe not a G. Maybe a few hundred. Your feedback scared the crap outta me actually..lol

last year I made some good money betting the spread at home on sportsbook. this year I have been too scared to bet on them, with the way they've been playing.

if you get a chance, watch a game here:

I always go to Vegas during the bust times, ( NFL playoffs, NBA Finals), and the place has always had a huge waiting list so I haven't been able to get a table. But you can walk into the bar. I hung out there once when The Magic Raped us last year.

Another good spot is the ESPN Zone at NY NY. I've watched the NBA Finals there the last few years and rocks. if you get there early, you can get a front table/ booth in front of those giant TVs. I watched one of the Boston/ lakers games there, and the place was nuts.
