The Atlanta Dream outscored the Connecticut Sun 28-18 in the fourth quarter to escape Mohegan Sun Arena with a 89-84 victory. The win puts Atlanta ahead 1-0 in the best of three series with Game 2 at Philips Arena on Sunday afternoon.

Probably the most impressive part of the victory was that Atlanta overtook Connecticut in the fourth quarter with Angel McCoughtry on the bench saddled with foul trouble. Lindsey Harding scored 10 of her 21 points in the fourth quarter to help lead the Dream to victory. Five Atlanta Dream players finished in double figures. Angel McCoughtry and Erika De Souza each finished with 16 points while Armintie Price added 14. Sancho Lyttle chipped in 13 points and 11 rebounds. The Dream out rebounded the Sun 47-29 and 14-8 on the offensive glass.

Renee Montgomery and Asjha Jones finished with 16 points apiece to lead Connecticut. Tina Charles netted 12 points while Kalana Green finished in double figures with 10. The loss was just the third on the season that Connecticut has suffered at home.

Atlanta came out ice cold in the game missing 11 of its first 13 shots but kept chipping away and only trailed by two at the half. That they were able to overtake the Sun with McCoughtry on the bench has to give them a lot of confidence as they return home to try and close out the series.
