http://blogs.ajc.com/georgia-state-sports/2012/04/07/georgia-state-has-accepted-an-invitation-to-join-sun-belt/GSU plans to officially announce this move at 2:00 today. Its interesting that the Presidents and ADs of the CAA are meating Tuesday to up their conference exit fee from $250,000 to $1,000,000. GSU is leaving them the day before the exit fee quadruples. Talk about great timing.Good for GSU.......moving into Division I (FBS) in 2013 is remarkable for GSU considering that will be their 4th year of football existence. I expect / hope for their recruiting to take a serious up-tick. The fact that they will develop some regional rilvaries with South Alabama, Troy, Flordia International, Florida Atlantic, and Middle Tennessee should really help with their regional recruiting. No longer will the majority of their away games be in Virginia and New England. This will also be great to develop a fan base who can actually make it to some away games now.The basketball program will have a shot at instantly competing for championships in the Sun Belt. The CAA is superior in basketball. The thought of GSU playing in a bowl game within their first 4 or 5 years of existnece make many Atlantans happy. There are about 5 times more GSU alumni living in the Atlanta area then there are Ga Tech alumni.
