Samuel Dalembert Agrees To Two-Year, $7.5M Deal with Mavericks , guess centre options are thinning.

That is a bargain value contract for the Mavs.

We could have afforded that Contract if Dalembert wanted to be here.

Let me speculate on 3 "either or's."

1. Either Ferry valued Brand over Dalembert. (Suprisingly enough, statistically Brand was the best post defender in the NBA in 2011). So I can see how a metric guy may value Brand over Dalembert. Especially when Brand can be had for a 1 year contract.

or

2. Ferry values the cap flexibility to target a max free agent next year. (Signing Dalembert to anything more then a 1 year deal takes that flexibility away.)

or

3. Ferry offered 2 years to Dalembert and he simply preferred Dallas.
