Keeping Joe Johnson would have been a disaster and resigning Josh once you struck out on luring Dwight with him would have been a train wreck. Averting both of these = no wreck. Therefore, Ferry has been wreckless.

Wreckless is how you get rid of players... not that you get rid of players.

As much as you may hate Smoove's boneheaded shots, he is still a game changer with his defense and passing. I mean can you see San Antonio's GM having Duncan in his contract year and allowing him to go into free agency to let the market decide? How about Paul George? How about Durant? The way you run the GM position speaks to the players very loudly.

This is all colored by a ridiculous premise that Ferry is some kind of ivory tower asshole. Somehow despite his 'wrecklessness' he managed to sign korver, milsap, and brand, three guys that are at the stage of their career where they are chasing titles. Yet they signed on to a rebuilding project. Smoove hasn't said anything bad about Ferry other than confirming the Hawks never made him an offer. Are we supposed to offer a contract to a guy that we don't want to sign? Ferry has never said one bad thing about Smoove and in fact praised him more than our previous GMs.
