After all the debate and data-driven analysis presented to him, D'Allesandro came to a simple conclusion: you can always find serviceable role players on the free agent market. The draft is your chance to swing for the fences. For that reason, I'm hoping for a Lavine or another high-upside talent vs. the Hoods' and Harris'.

If there weren't a salary cap, that may be a valid approach. But you can't be spending free agent dollars for your starters to cover up for your draft misses.

If you have advise from the Spurs GM, ill gladly listen to that.

It's a basic truth whether he has made good decisions or not. A big difference with the Spurs is once you have the core talent you can draft guys and let them develop rather than expecting them to contribute right away
