NBA: Atlanta Hawks at New Orleans Pelicans
Stephen Lew-USA TODAY Sports

The Atlanta Hawks (26-24) will take on the New Orleans Pelicans (22-27) Tuesday evening seeking their fourth straight win. After a hard-fought win over Steph Curry and the Golden State Warriors on Sunday, the Hawks moved into a tie for the No. 4 seed in the Eastern Conference playoff race.

Atlanta is 12-9 at home this season, while the Pelicans are 8-14 on the road. Both teams are playing decent of late, with the Hawks winning six of their last ten games compared to a 5-5 record for New Orleans over their last ten.

The Pelicans and Hawks have both battled injuries of late, with De’Andre Hunter, John Collins, Zion Williamson, Lonzo Ball and Brandon Ingram all missing action recently for their respective teams.

Atlanta ranks 10th in the NBA with a +1.7 net rating, a fairly impressive number considering all the injuries the Hawks have faced this season. The Pelicans rank 16th in the league with a 0.0 net rating.

Both the Hawks and Pelicans, when at full strength, are better on the offensive end of the floor than they are defensively. New Orleans ranks eight in offensive rating, while Atlanta ranks 10th.

Injuries

Both teams come into this one with significant injuries listed. For Atlanta, Clint Capela (right hand soreness) is probable. De’Andre Hunter (right knee soreness), John Collins (left ankle sprain), Kris Dunn (right ankle surgery), and Cam Reddish (right Achilles soreness) remain out.

New Orleans lists both Zion Williamson and Brandon Ingram as questionable for Tuesday evening’s game. Additionally, Josh Hart and Nickeil Alexander-Walker are out, while Kira Lewis Jr. is doubtful.

The Line

The Hawks opened as a three-point favorite over the Pelicans on Monday evening. This can obviously change quite a bit once the status of Williamson, Capela and Ingram are known for sure. As of now, Vegas gives Atlanta a slight edge heading into the contest.
