The Hawks defeated the Detroit Pistons 13-124 in a home contest on Monday night. The starters for the Hawks were Trae Young, Dejounte Murray, De’Andre Hunter, Saddiq Bey, and Clint Capela. Bogdan Bogdanovic, Jalen Johnson, Kobe Bufkin, Mouhamed Gueye, and AJ Griffin remained unavailable. Starting for the Pistons were Cade Cunningham, Jaden Ivey, Ausar Thompson, Bojan Bogdanovic, and Marvin Bagley III.

The Hawks made their first six attempts from beyond the arc. They finished the first quarter 9-for-12 from three while leading the Pistons 38-25. Notably, Seth Lundy saw his first real-game minutes of the season, playing nearly five minutes in the quarter.

The Pistons outscored the Hawks 27-23 in the second quarter to make it a 61-52 Hawks’ lead entering halftime. The team had zero makes on eight attempts from beyond the arc in the quarter. Dejounte Murray poured in an impressive 17 points in route to the nine point advantage. He was the only Hawk who scored in double digits in the half.

After scoring 12 points in the first half, Cade Cunningham carried his impressive play into the second half. At the end of three quarters, Trae Young brought his total to 21 points and the Hawks led by 12. The Hawks now had five players in double figures. Cunningham and Bogdanovic had amassed 23 points each for the Pistons.

The Pistons were able to cut their deficit to just six points with slightly over six minutes remaining in the contest. Trae Young continued to put on a clinic, bringing his assist total to 15 with three minutes left.

However, the Pistons brought the game within five points with just over a minute to go. The Hawks narrowly closed this game out at the free-throw line, but had a hard time stopping Cunningham, who put in a career-high 43 points. The Pistons’ loss streak extends to 24 games.
