hawks1
Billy Knight needs to pull the trigger on a Walker trade sooner than later, as he will get more value farther away from the trading deadline. Propose 4-Way Deal: Atlanta Trades: Atlanta Receives: Antoine Walker Carlos Arroyo Boris Diaw Nets 10mil Trade Exemption New Jersey Trades: New Jersey Receives: 10mil Trade Exemption Antoine Walker 5mil Trade Exemption Jim Jackson 1st Round Pick from LA Clippers (2005 top 14 protected, 2006 unprotected) Brian Scalabrine New Orleans Trades: New Orleans Receives: Jim Jackson Boris Diaw Brian Scalabrine Utah Trades: Utah Receives: Carlos Arroyo 5 mil Nets trade exemption 1st Round Pick from NJ via LAC Why the trade goes down? Atlanta will not want to resign AW as he will eat up all their capspace this year and years in the future; this trade gets them a quality, cheap PG with some height (6' 2), as well as keeps their capspace this summer. NJ goes after the trade as they will not have capspace for a free agent signing for a while; this trade allows them to go over cap limit and resign Walker this summer, and shows Kidd they are serious about winning. Next years starting lineup could be potent with Kidd, Carter, Jefferson, Walker, and Collins, and will be competitive with Jackson instead of Jefferson this year. Hornets do the trade b/c they are getting nothing from Jackson now, and they would be getting two young, cheap players. Utah does the trade b/c Arroyo is their 4th string PG being paid 4 mil for 4 years; this trade prevents them from taking up capspace and they pick up a 1st round draft pick, as well as a useful trade exemption that could possibly be used with Harpring to bring them a All-Star via trade. Everyone wins. Atlanta will then be set at PG for the next 4 years at 4 mil per, as it is very difficult to get a PG with some height in the draft (most recent good PG drafted? - PG needs multiple years to develop). This summer, Billy should aggressively go after Michael Redd and offer a max contract if necessary (11-13 mil per year) and draft a big man. Nbadraft.net suggests the Hawks will draft 7' 3 M. Andriuskevicius at #2 (but could also draft other big men). Imagine this 2005-2006 Lineup PG Carlos Arroyo (6'2) - pushes the ball up the court SG Michael Redd (6'4) - opens paint for Smith and Harrington w/ great outside shot SF Josh Smith (6'10) - aggressive attacking the basket PF Al Harrington (6'9) - great in the paint C Draft Pick/Rest of Capspace for Dalembert/Swift This team could be like the Phoenix Suns of the East - up tempo with great outside shooter and players attacking the basket. Plus, will have an exciting bench with Lue at PG, Childress at SG, Donta Smith at SF, a free agent veteran signing at PF, and Radmonavich at C. Wow! Thoughts? TheDude
not too shabby...although that's alot that has to happen...it'd be difficult to get this many gm's to work together.. although NJ would have a heck of a lineup next year and could run and gun...
