  1. It's obvious that Al is the difference. Guys like Al and Reef destroy your defense. They never step over and thug someone in the first qtr. Late in the game, same thing. Sometimes just giving the effort to foul someone will stop a run. Al is a soft player. Who wants one of those? I think Larry Legend has lost his mind. As for the 3's, I think other teams are disrespecting his J. I wouldn't. What is he gonna do, finish at the rack?
  2. Does anyone remember when they missed a basket? We actually benefited from referee incompetence!
  3. That would be a nightmare! Oden is very impressive. Actually, Memphis is the worst team in the league at 4-12. Don't count out the Knicks, Celtics, Blazers, Bucks, or Raptors. Or us. My hope is that we win games though.
  4. Are you guys smoking crack? What were you gonna do? Put a gun to his head? I'm glad we've got him now. I don't even know what context your opinions are in, but it really doesn't matter. Talking about wasting years. What is wrong with you guys? In the real world, the opportunity is not always there, unlike NBA Live. WTF?!?!?
  5. Geez! No one said thanks for the pictures. So, thanks! Definitely the best thing I've ever seen on the Squawk!
  6. This team is smarter than the last 6. Your comment on team D was kind of my point. Teams that play smart offense, usually play solid D, and vice-versa. It's all about smart basketball. I don't think we'll ever be as smart as we need to be with Woody.
  7. Turnovers are something I hate more than almost anything. They directly lead to a possession differential that you cannot overcome. In addition to displaying poor offensive execution with TO's, they show a lack of understanding and respect for the importance of each possession, that reflects poorly on the defense as well. So much energy is wasted "playing hard", when "playing smart" will always give you a chance to win. The link between turnovers and losing should be obvious. Here are the cold numbers for our Hawks. YR Record TO's(rank in fewest) 93' 43-39 18th 94' 57-25 9th 95' 42-40 4th 96' 46-36 9th 97' 56-26 7th 98' 50-32 9th 99' 31-19 9th 00' 28-54 16th 01' 28-57 27th 02' 33-49 26th 03' 35-47 25th 04' 28-54 26th 05' 13-69 28th 06' 26-56 28th You can say we need to do x,y,z, but limiting turnovers is the quickest way to win. I know we're playing better, but it's still too many.
  8. Smitty is turning into The Stinger. I think it was a combination of him trying to be nice, and reminiscing about the past. A guy gets two steal and he's Mookie? C'mon!
  9. I meant to say this a month ago. Nice post!
  10. they should get a shot at O.S.U. They play in the S.E.C.! Michigan already had their chance. That's the way it is. How can, without a playoff, one think that a team deserves to be the National Champion when they are not even a conference champion?
  11. Quote: Quote: After the Denver game you were talking playoffs and in fact predicted the Hawks would win 10 straight after they got blown out by Miami in their next game Quote: I believe that we can run off the next 10. pmned So what happened? The Hawks proceeded to lose 14 of 19 even though they were going through the easy part of the schedule. In other words you were COMPLETELY WRONG. See, this is just another reason why I don't really consider you a Hawks fan. You want me to apologize for being an optimistic fan. Sure, I was wrong... But my sentiments were that of a fan. I wanted my team to win. I guess that makes you right... You were right... The Hawks sucked. Thanks again for showing your true colors.. even now, you would rather see the Hawks LOSE to prove you right than to see the Hawks win? Fan? I think not! You're doing exactly what Exodus said you do in this situation. Wow! I bet you don't even realize it. You're the one that doesn't get it. It's not about you. It's about the Hawks sucking. Some of us have an educated idea of how to fix that. You obviously don't. You're not a bad fan just because you're not stupid. Do you think we would have blown three or four games with Jerry Sloan as our coach? Wait. Why am I asking? You probably do. I have challenged you many times on many things, and not once have you came back with anything close to topic. By the way, where did you play basketball? What sports did you play in high school? How about just growing up? My guess is you played and still play nothing. I know we're all Hawks fans, but you seem to think you're an internet star. Get over yourself for the sake of us all. I would like to enjoy reading some of your retarded retrospective thinking or ridiculous trade ideas, but I can't when you don't seem honest to the situations presented to you. Look in the mirror.
  12. Quote: When Diesel gets owned, which is a frequent thing, he looks to muddy the water and then he goes in circles. Its called chasing his tail. But he wants everyone to believe he is making sense. Hard to refute the truth. You can have your own opinion, but you can't have your own facts. Patrick Leahy
  13. What a joke. Like we aren't sucking just as much when it's a 5, 6, 7, 8, or 9 point deficit? Does anyone need a more basic example of how this guy is out of his league. He doesn't even understand when to stop a run. I think he doesn't call timeouts because he doesn't know what to say when he does. It's their fault, not his. He is a loser. Someone argue with me on that. Please. As a player and a head coach, he knows a lot about losing. Why are so many of you apologists for him? I love the Hawks. I want us to win, I'm just not stupid. This team could win 50 games with a Paul Silas or Van Gundy type. We're headed for 34-38. Mark it down.
  14. Schuerholz is dead to me. He's been a day late and a dollar short for the better part of a decade. Just to name a few. Albie Lopez, Quilvio Veras,John Thompson, Kenny Lofton, Reggie Sanders, Russ Ortiz, Ken Caminiti, Paul Bako, Juan Cruz, Kyle Farnsworth, Todd Holandsworth, Jose Hernandez, Brian Jordan(2nd time), Darren Bragg, Rico Brogna, Ken Ray, Edgar Renteria(anyone else think we missed Furcal's range and arm?) Dan Kolb, Walt Weiss, Tim Hudson, Shane Reynolds, Chris Rietsma, Raul Mondesi, Pete Orr(the guy makes Lockhart look like George Brett), Kurt Abbot, Andy Ashby, Rey Sanchez, B.j.Surhoff, Robert Fick, Steve Karsay, Todd Pratt, Jaret Wright, Matt Diaz, Willy Aybar, Ryan Langerhans, Danys Baez, Tyler Yates, Chad Poronto, Blaine Boyer, and Wilson Betemit sucked for like 10 years, when he finally delivers, we trade him for nothing the day Chipper gets hurt. I know there are others, but these are a few. Here are some guys he let leave-Jermaine Dye, Dave Justice, Jason Schmidt, Rafael Furcal, Kevin Millwood, Leo Mazzonne, Pat Corralles, Javy Lopez, Greg Maddux, Tom Glavine, and next year you can bet he'll trade Andruw. I guarantee it was a matter of a few million dollars. We needed that money for Joey Devine and Tyler Yates. Quality pitchers like that. The guy has lost it. Or, maybe we all gave him waaaaaaay too big a pass these last 7 or 8 years. What other GM could stay with all of those moves blowing up in his face? P.S. Roger McDowell is the worst pitching coach I have ever seen, but he stays? He made about 5 mound visits last year. This is disgusting.
  15. Why would he bet that the Hawks will lose? He wants them to win, just like we all do, but we are blowing games we shouldn't. Almost did again last night. This team could win 45-50 games with a very good coach. we probably will be in the 34-38 win total though. It's discouraging to watch the lack of in-game ability that Woodson dispays.
  16. I really don't even know how to respond to that. He will bring a coaching mentality that Smoltz apparently doesn't possess. The main reason our pitching has been inconsistent is the deviation from the philosophy of pitching down and away with fastballs and change-ups. You force ground balls that way. That usually generates outs. Is anyone better at generating a double play than Glavine? Having said that, his game has evolved. He throws a curve now that was non-existent in his days as a Brave. He also pitches inside more. I want a smart pitcher. He is one of the smartest pitchers to ever play the game! He's never had any serious injury problems. His mechanics are flawless. He would solidify us as a real contender. Give me a break. You don't think Tommy can "get us over the hump"? The Cards won what, 83 games? Please. Oh, by the way, he would win 300 in a Braves uniform! WTF? Do you get the importance of that?
  17. I heard Dave O'Brien talking about it on 680. I generally trust his candor. He knows the guy. He clearly made it sound loke it was virtually a done deal. Schuerholz would have to F#$%k this up big! It appears, with the children aging, and other considerations, a return home is what the Glavines want. That is what I'm banking on. J.S. would really kill me if this falls through.
  18. Great post Chillz. We are stuck with Vick. I see the same things about the open receivers. Have for his whole career. Hence, the desperation of my thinking. This clearly isn't working. Two freaks on one side. That was my thinking. Schaub sucks, though. He cost me a ton of money when he was with the Cavs. He would throw a ton of picks, if given the chance. Now, with the Vick finger thing, they look perfect together. Don't they?
  19. Quote: Quote: Name a Super Bowl champ that lost three straight. It happened way back in that fabled season of 2005 when the Steelers lost to the Ravens, Colts, and Bengals and then went on to win the Super Bowl. I totally forgot. Still, that's the only one I think, and it wasn't the Lions, Browns, Ravens, and Saints!
  20. From what they're saying, the Glavine family sat down and decided that if we were in the ballpark financially, he would return to the Braves. Apparently, we are. If they wait till Saturday, the Braves would avoid any compensation to the Mets. That is the hold up. When they sign Glavine, to a 1 or possibly 2 year deal, the Braves will have to free up money. Hudson is being shopped to American League teams primarily. Giles is also on the block. Giles is a definite. Hudson is up in the air. All I know is, Christmas is coming early!
  21. Typical. A 50-60 win team might need one of those. We need to scratch out every win. Aside from flawed gameplans, Woodson throws games away with a severe lack of strategy. He's so out of his league. Even in the press. Watch his post game conferences on youtube. He just accepts things. Wonder who he will be assisting next year? Or, will he just take a year off? He's worked so hard, he deserves a break. He makes me sick.
  22. Worst free-agent signing in Atlanta Hawks history.
  23. If it doesn't work, go to yahoo movies. Type Rocky Balboa in search. Here it is http://movies.yahoo.com/movie/1809278368/trailer.
  24. I'm watching what I think is my first C.S.I.(Roger Daltrey is guest starring), and I just saw the preview for the new Rocky movie. Sly is like 64! I had heard one was in the works, but I just didn't believe they would go through with it. Wow!
