  1. We need to replace Hunter with someone better if we dump him. Easier said then done. This team's biggest need is still defense.
  2. There's also no guarantee he would get offered a max deal so there is that. But yea, this is for sure a team friendly deal, no doubt about it.
  3. Kuzma got 4 years 102 million. This is a great f***ing deal for the Hawks. I myself would not have wanted to pay DJM a cent more than 30 per year, and that's exactly where we landed. Nice.
  4. Yup, that's not ideal. Counterpoint he did average almost 6 assists last year, not a lot of open looks for him last season. Just like DJM getting a bunch of better looks from deep and seeing his 3pt shooting improve this year we can hopefully see somethign like that with Siakam, more open looks less double teams. I don't know.... I don't LOVE Siakam, but he would still be the best player we've ever had playing next to Trae Young, and I think with Quinn he could have his best seasons with us. Like I said if we had the luxury of flipping DJM and spare parts of Siakam and more expensive spare parts to match salaries I would much rather pay Siakam on our team than I would Murray.
  5. I think Bam is more off base than Harrell. Outside of size and defense not sure how they are similar. Offensively they couldn't be more different. OO gets around 70% of his production at the rim, Bam has always been much more of a mid range shooter / short range floater scorer, even very early on in his career. AT this stage the difference in shooting splits by distance is staggeringly different with OO shooting 61% of his shots at the rim vs Bam at 29%. On top of this Bam always was a much, much better passer and by his third season he was also an infinitely better ball handler than OO will ever likely be. Honestly not sure who I'd compare OO too, he is a unique player (so is Bam). I think he will always be primary a rim runner and put-back type of guy offensively, though if he can continue to work on his mid-range jumper and occasional 3pt set shot it'll add a couple of PPG to his game. I think the most intriguing thing about OO is the defensive potential, and that is higher than Bam's. The one drawback is his size, and it's something that Bam occassionally struggles with as well. So in that regard they are simialr. The key with OO is which lineups we can use that mitigate his lack of size.
  6. I know this has already been discussed but I would take anything Siakam and his camp say atm with a grain of salt. They have only one goal in mind and that is to make sure he isn't traded so he can get more money. Once he's traded that "more money" ceases to exist, and then the "most money" becomes staying a Hawk or whatever other team he ends up getting traded too. Odds are you get the fastest 180 in attitude you'll ever see the instant (if) he gets traded.
  7. I have mixed feelings about Siakam, I think he's a DJM type of guy as far as value. If we could come up with a package to swap them I would do it. I'd rather be stuck with Siakam at the max than both Trae and DJM who play the same position.
  8. Yup.. assuming we add Grant and don't make other major moves you can slot him either at SF in OO lineups (backing up Hunter) or at PF in Cap lineups. He's a guy that fills a need for sure as our SF/PF is our biggest issue atm. We need shooters for sure, especially now that we don't have Collins who was actually making quite a bit of threes at a good clip to end the season when the offense really took off.
  9. You can have lineups of JJ-Grant-OO. Grant is versatile and you can put him in the wing.
  10. That would be a good addition for the MLE. I know his stock is low after falling out of the rotation and getting clowned by Butler, but he is a 40% 3pt shooter the last two years and plays very solid perimeter defense. It's just the type of guy we should be adding.
  11. Eh. Gobert is Marcus Camby getting paid Shaq money. No thank you.
  12. Bruno is on the team? The first player in history that I've seen a team come out and publically say they had no intention of resigning no matter what.
  13. On the one hand, bro still scores and shoots well... on the other he's 6'3 and plays no defense. Probably wouldn't be able to get a better player than him with our oh so juicy MLE though. The TPE will rot before we use it.
  14. Eh, that's what Kuzma is going to get and I'd rather pay that to Collins every gd day of the week and twice on sunday. Not defending the contract but just your specific analogy I don't think is accurate in the current free agency climate.
  15. Head case Kyrie balled out of his mind averaging 27-6 on 64% TS and they couldn't win a game. Worth noting Luka has been a driving force behind the Mavs moves, especially the Porzingis trade and the head coaching change. Very easy to build around! LP will not SNIFF a head coaching gig ever again in his life.
  16. If it's easier to build around Luka how come they have not done so?
  17. Never seen a guy look simultaneously younger and older than his age at the same time.
  18. Feel like CP3 is not mentioned any more, took like 18 years for that to happen though.
  19. The one thing it tells me is we need to get shooters around Trae. Period. Not news to me, it's obvious from our ECF what the recipe to success is with the team.
  20. Cam Johnson, PJ Washington, Brandon Clarke, Terrance Mann, Keldon Johnson, Keving Porter JR, Jordan Poole, Talen Horton-Tucker, Herro, Thybulle, Claxton, Gafford, all were potential picks if we didn't trade for Hunter and give away our second round picks. We could have picked anywhere from 2 or 4 of these guys, instead we came out with just Hunter. It's not just the Hunter trade which in itself is maybe a "push" but in combination with the Reddish pick and then giving away our second round picks and turning three of them into = Bruno. It was a bad draft. No doubt about it.
  21. We can't afford to pay our 5th,6th option guys I don't think. Bey will need to be replaced by one of our players on a rookie contract.
  22. Doncic for Trae: What has Doncic done in this league that Trae has not? Doncic: 28-8 on 47-34 1 WCF appearance 28 playoff games played Trae: 26-9 on 44-35 splits, 1 ECF apperance 27 playoff games played Doncic is really becoming a massively overrated player. He has ran every decent player and coach out of the organization. Trae had a "bad" season last year. I fully expect him to rebound and be a hands down All Star starter like he was the year before last. The Murray trade is on the new front office. The fallout from that trade notoriously led to him leaving the team, as he was completely opposed to it and ownership overruled him. It was the beginning of the end of Schlenk as a member of the organization. Reddish: Yes, a big miss. We could have had Cam Johnson or even PJ Washington, both of which would have been upgrades. Huerter overpaid? It's one of the best contracts in the NBA. He is making less money than Eric Gordon and Tim Hardaway JR. Player at his range (16-13 mil) include, Luke Kennard, Malik Beasley, Luguentz Dort, and Gary Harris. All of which he is waaay better than. Collins: Yes, yes, this one didn't work out at all obviously. It wasn't a bad contract considering his production and age at the time though. Huerter Trade. Was not on Schlenk, this move was forced by the front office to stay under the luxury tax. Awful move, but again, not Schlenk's fault. Hung on to Collins: Allegedly it was also the front office that rejected several trades Schlenk had proposed for Collins. Drafted Spellmen: It was the 30th pick, 95% of those don't turn out to anything,. Bizarre to bring this up. To me personally. The biggest mistake for Schlenk was the 2019 draft. The Reddish pick turned out to a total dud. And then turning the 8th and 17th pick into Hunter was also poor value. 2019 ended up being a very deep draft even into the second round so to go in with a whopping 6 picks and end up with just Hunter is awful value. There's been around 30 solid NBA players that came into the league in 2019 and we picked just 1 of them heading in with 6 chances.
  23. I agree with you. For all of KATs issues and softness, he is still an absolutely ideal fit next to Trae Young offensively and by a country mile the best player we have ever paired him with, weeeeelll above DJM.
  24. I feel Bey is a stopgap type of player for us. I don't think we are gonna break the bank to keep him unless you know he really balls out next year, which I don't think will be the case.
