  1. I think that the fact he never steals the spotlight, and is rarely the player of the game speaks negatively, BUT very positively about Johnson. After all, he is the 10th leading scorer in the NBA, he gets his numbers no matter what.
  2. My predictions in advance, and hopefully, even if all goes awry, we'll still come away with a W.
  3. Yes, wouldhave HC advantage in the 1st round, I want it in the second as well. Why should we rest JJ and Josh, you don't see the Magic resting Dwight, you don't see the Celtics resting Rondo/Ray, you don't see Cleveland resting Lebron until he gets injured. You don't rest your players when you're still fighting for playoff position, that is why the Lakers, and now Cavs can get away with it, they pretty much have the top spots locked up. YOU GET PAID TO PLAY 82 GAMES, you can rest when you have your playoff position locked up.
  4. Are you serious? 6 losses is easily going to be the difference between 2nd and 4th. IT MATTERS COMPLETELY to the playoff race.
  5. To add more evidence to the list of their lack of basketball knowledge, their last list had Nick Collison as runner-up Defensive Player of The Year.
  6. Yahoo Sports Sixth Man of the Year 1. Carl Landry(notes) I'm not sure how I feel about this. Because Landry has clearly come off the bench for the last time. How I feel about his candidacy thus far is clear, as he's still at the top of the list. The guy came off the pine for 51 games as a Rocket, and averaged 16 points, 5.5 rebounds and 55 percent shooting in only 27 minutes per game, sparkling numbers. His work as a Rocket means he should head this list, for now. By the end of April? When it's time to vote? When he'll have started nearly 30 games? Harder to tell. For now, I'd like to celebrate this guy's 2009-10 accomplishments as a sixth man, because he clearly brought it in Houston. 2. Anderson Varejao(notes) He's started just seven games out of 62, and though his box score stats aren't much (about nine points and eight rebounds with a block in 29 minutes), just about every advanced-statistical metric, combined with out-and-out viewing of this guy working all over the place defensively, tells you that A.V. belongs. 3. Manu Ginobili(notes) This is where people get upset, and they're just going to have to deal with it. Jamal Crawford(notes) seems like a good step ahead of Manu, but he also plays a few more minutes. Per-minute, Ginobili destroys Crawford in rebounds, assists, doubles him up in steals and blocks, and scores 1.8 fewer points per 36 minutes than JC. It's not by much, but when he's been on the court, Manu Ginobili plays better all-around basketball than Jamal Crawford. I don't know how any non-Hawks fan could deny that. I know that it has no bearing on the actual vote and just random people rating, but how can you not even put him in the top 3, when every announcer we've heard around the league says that Crawford is a near-lock for it, haha.
  7. Marvin wasn't in the game, was he supposed to go to the bench and punch him?
  8. There aren't enough minutes he thinks. Zaza gets his 5 minutes in the second half, Evans get his 5, and then it's just Craw and the starters. Josh usually plays 22-24 in the 2nd half.
  9. What are you talking about...? Zaza played really well tonight, a good putback, hit all his shots/free throws, had a nice tie-up with Smoove, and had a really nice steal. He had a moving screen but that is about the only negative besides that loose ball foul.
  10. I can't, for the life of me, understand how Ginobili is so high up. he is having the worst shooting year of his career, and is the oldest on the list...
  11. You do realize that the difference between a 98 IQ and 109 IQ isn't as large as it seems. People with those IQs would be quite similar in intelligence and problem solving. 90-109 are all in the average intelligence scale. So you're saying every single one of our players/coach is average? While I see this as perhaps being possible (though doubtful), what is the point of the thread, as you basically just said that everyone is normal, and nobody is stupid, or smart.
  12. I see us going 9-2 in this stretch, with losses to the Bulls and the Knicks.
  13. Haha, obviously. Anybody who thought we had a chance at him was delusional.
  14. I voted Zaza, though I still believe that his injury may have something to do with it, but i'm not going to blame it on that alone. He is trying to do too much when he gets the ball because he knows he won't get many minutes because he is sloppy because he tried to do too much. It is just a circle : (
  15. Landry will still be eligible and could steal it somehow. Plus, people still love to overhype Manu and JR Smith. I think it will be: 1- Crawford 2- Landry 3- Manu

    Wow

Us going to Josh so often hurt us, we should have done everything to get Joe and Horford the ball more, or at least move it some more! Also, I will finally admit it. For the first time in my life, I can't stand to watch Zaza, and he is my favorite player. He just doesn't do anything to help the team, all his hustle his nice, but he isn't rebounding, hitting free throws or playing passable defense anymore. Give Joe Smith minutes unless you need Zaza for size. It hurts me to say that : (
  17. Haha, not if they get Ilgauskas back! But I am right there with all of you. I was rooting for Cleveland as well for the first time in my life, and they choke!
  18. After watching the Cavs struggle with Shaq in foul trouble, and losing their third straight game without Big Z, including ineffective offense and and size off the bench, I think that Cleveland has to realize how important he was to that team and will offer what it takes to get him back. Ilgauskas on the Hawks is not something they can let happen.
  19. I think that the re-signings were very important for a continuity and chemistry point of view, and it was the right move, regardless of how we're doing now. Bibby improved this team, and is good at handling the offense and calming the team down. Not to mention, he understand when he needs to defer to Joe or somebody else. Marvin did what we needed, and we thought he would continue to grow, rather than sit stagnant. Zaza is a crowd favorite and showed signs of finally playing within himself. That being said, I don't think anyone on that list is an improvement over what we have. Watson/Jack could do what Bibby is doing for a bit cheaper, statwise, but Bibby knows this offense and knows the players strengths/weaknesses. Wilcox would have been nice I suppose as a cheaper backup big option, but look at his stats, not as productive as Zaza, plus not as intimidating to some of our opponents. Though, much less awkward. None of those SFs are an improvement besides perhaps Villanueva, and i'm not a big fan of his either, and looking at his stats, he is doing nothing that Marvin isn't. Gooden is nice, but Gooden/Smoove at the 3/4 is not what I want out on the floor, though I definitely wanted Gooden as a big off the bench, but it just didn't work out that way. In my opinion, the Hawks made the best of the situation with these signings, though the contract lengths are easily up for debate. No combination of pickups at those three positions would make us better than we are now, and I really believe that. You have to realize that our team is at least comfortable playing with each other now, integrating new players isn't just an automatic process, and I like the fact that our team has grown up together.
  20. This post lost all credibility when you called Matt Bonner a B+ p[layer.
  21. Pietrus is shooting an abysmal 38% in 2010. Anderson is shooting an even worse 35% in 2010. Redick's 3pt% is down 10% in Jan/Feb compared to Nov/Dec Gortat averages 4 points. Rashard has dropped 20+ points once in the last 24 games.
  22. In case you haven't noticed, the Magic have the same problem, 2 starters that are trash. Vince Carter having the worst season of his career, and Matt Barnes still chucking too many threes and refusing to play defense. Orlando got 6 points from their bench tonight on 3-19 shooting, and outside of Dwight, their whole team is inconsistent... We are 2 games out of the #2 seed, stop overreacting again.
  23. Last night, Beasley was 3-11 just like Marvin, and was so bad when he was on the court that he barely got any PT. I hope Miami hates Beasley as much as some of you hate Marvin
  24. Wait, what? The Magic have been owning the Celtics... Cavs > Magic > Hawks > Celtics... Just be the 2 and hope the Magic fall to the 4th seed. We'll get probably a first round matchup against Chicago, get a 2nd round against the Celtics, WITH homecourt, and then face the best team in the east in the next round.... The 4? No thanks. No home court and 2nd round against Cleveland.
