  1. Drew is actually a good coach who is only going to get better!! Some of you all forgot we just had a shortened season where real coaching wasn't able to be as big as a factor as it would during a normal season. Most of the teams that were successful last year were teams that had their main core and system in place. Clippers addition(s) and the Knicks being the main exceptions. I still believe Drew is capable of being one of the better coaches in the league and only had 1 1/2 seasons to prove so.We kept our core and added all vets to pick up Drew's/Hawk's system quickly. Drew, still being young to the head coaching game tried to over think it. He did a great job with Ivan Johnson and most of our core but he could of played a couple other players we had a bit more( atleast in the playoffs or 10 or so games before). Who knows maybe their were injuries known and unknown that caused him to hold them back but I still believe in using all your weapons (if needed) during the post games. Drew likes to keep secret weapons for the playoffs (kind of like what he did with Teague last year against the Bulls). I knew in the first round that Teague was going to be his secret weapon against Rose with Hinrich and Kirk's accident was coincidental. Drew wasn't going to use Tracy until the 3rd round this year against the Heat (although there was no guarantee that we'd get past the 76ers even if we won the Boston series).I don't think the regular season is too hard for Drew as long as he has players that buy into his system. He may need to think as the players should when the post season starts and realize sometimes you got to put it all on the line. All and all though he's had one full season which was a learning experience and another season where alot of things he wanted to do were hindered. There are not too many coaches out there that are currently better than Drew. Let's give him a real chance before asking for vet coaches that haven't quite won anything or newbies that are going to have to go through learning curves themselves. You got Tom,Popp,Scott(Up and coming), Doc, Spoeltra (see Scott). Phil (needs a superstar) and Sloan (never one a ring) are retired. I might have missed one but I don't think so and in my opinion every other coach is questionable. If we have a good to great year next year with our current roster we need to give Drew some credit!! They will definitely have to believe in Drew's system (coming from many different other systems) for it to work. Besides Smoove, Al ,Teague, Zaza and Ivan we have a completely new team. Chemistry takes time to build and is important in going far( take Miami and New York for ei...). Many teams look great on paper but you got teams like Chicago (take away Rose) that may look horrible but have good chemistry, coaching and team philosophy. If this team exceeds expectations of most, more than likely Drew should get some credit !!
  2. And who said Stevenson can't spread the floor? lol
  3. Were the Hawks west. I think we're going in different directions now!!
  4. Honestly there are not that many athletic quick point guards with the talent of Teague. To name a few off the top of my head Derrick Rose,Russell Westbrook and John Wall?? Some have one or the other but not both. Teague might be the best defensive point guard in a couple of years competing with maybe Westbrook, Rose and Rondo. His offense is doing nothing but getting better!! Last year was technically his rookie year as far as playing time is concerned. Teague will have a chip on his shoulder to step it up with Joe being gone and Devin Harris/Louis Williams coming in to fight for his position. He should have a chip on his shoulder to outshine his little brother who plays with an in conference rival, the Chicago Bulls. He should have a chip on his shoulder to prove that he is or will become the best point guard thus far that came out of Wake Forrest. Will he make Chris Paul coming here next year an option instead of a must??Can he convince Dwight that him Smoove and Horford can be a big four?? Teague has alot of pressure on his shoulders but honestly I've said it before and I'll say it again "I'll take (Marvin),Horford and Teague any day over the injury riddle Paul. Deron Williams is not even elite to me and it showed last year. So many Atlanta fans have been disappointed in our drafting of point guards since we passed up on Paul that they have become natural skeptics.
  5. He's also gotten pretty good with the three point shot as well !!
  6. Imagine a lot more games like the OKC one last year where he took over playing within himself and using his versatility. He can kill a team from all over the floor on both ends!! I just pray that the opposition is the team that he's killing. It's going to be a different team with Josh and Al running the show!!
  7. Exactly!! This was against Durant and the Thunder!! No Joe Johnson, no Al Horford and Marvin really didn't show up when needed that game.
  8. We have proven talent in or close to their prime with Harris, Williams and Morrow. Teague is still young but showed talent and potential. Everyone is pretty much young with Harris being one of the oldest if not the oldest at 29. Everyone is young and still developing in a sense so his true task is to show he can get the team as a whole to play to and above their potential meaning a winning record as well.
  9. He is a 6'7 Energy guy that plays good defense and has a pretty good but raw offensive game. 6'7 and could possibly play PG-SF at times in his career!! Although raw, still a nice young athletic talent that can be effective now with his motor and hustle. He could end up being a diamond in the ruff for our team as currently constructed!!
  10. I'm definitely rooting for Pape Sy!!
  11. I wonder did Joe wish not to play wish Josh.
  12. Because we like Teague and Devin Harris!! Some of us think Teague is going to be something special. The others think Devin Harris can play well with our starters (particularly Horford with the PnR game). Some of us think both but the main point is they are paid alot less and could be a better fit for less risk!!
  13. Josh is getting better every year and he is just starting to reach his prime. He has unmatched gifts and ability and can do it all on the court at both ends. How can you not be able to build around him? He's very versatile. Josh and Al are a dangerous combo but so is Dwight and Josh. They would be the best defensive front court in the league with Dwight and Josh frequently making it to the top three already. People underestimate the defense and energy that Josh brings to our overall team!!

    Josh & Al

I hope you didn't think I was calling it that as currently constructed did you? I'm just noticing the building blocks. Like toughness in the big and small department with Ivan/Zaza and Stevenson. Shooters which are lethal weapons when used correctly. Quick guards along with gunners and two of the quickest big tandems in the league yes I can see the building blocks of a championship team!! I think Mike Scott will be able to give us what Marvin was giving us 2 years ago with an automatic mid range jumper and probably time at small forward. Championship teams need of course stars but also the right surrounding pieces that play that just right fit to put a team over the top!!

    Josh & Al

Expect to see career years for our bigs!! If a trade for Howard does not happen Josh and Al will be the stars running the show. It wouldn't be too hard to make it to the playoffs with Josh making a strong all star/superstar point. Horford will also have something to prove with getting a bigger role and competing for Franchise Player. Teague is going to play with more of a chip on his shoulder with the added comp and his brother joining the league as well as proving something to himself. Devin will get to launch alley's like Bibby and get to the free throw line. A little bit of everything inside and out. I do question his heart but he does have talent. We also got a couple of good shooters and toughness to boot!! This isn't the final roster of course(on a side note: I'm hoping Pape Sy remakes the team) but it's summing up to form a well rounded(championship caliber) team with additions of people like Deshawn, keeping Ivan for toughness. Having gunners like Morrow and Jenkins are necessary pieces to keep the defense honest especially for our bigs (who are good passers). Josh and Al should feel very comfortable knowing they have quick point guards offense/defense and gunners that can open a defense and create space. They both have pretty good jumpers as well (despite what the latter may say about Josh he's been practicing) so they can alternate the hole and collect more offensive rebounds. There should still be no excuse for not making the playoffs with these two playing at allstar levels and having a nice supporting cast. They should definitely have a chip on their shoulder as well trying to prove That Joe wasn't even the second best player on our squad!! Not hating on Joe but just saying it's our bigs time!!
  16. That was a good one and I'm not even a Paul fan!! I think Teague will become in his own right a defensive version of Paul. We haven't really had a great defensive guard since Mookie. Defense wins championships!! Pair Teague with a Smoove/D12 and maybe Iggy and you've got one of the best defensive team of starters in the league!!
  17. Hilarious!! It looked pretty good especially defensively but we'd have to keep them in the gym practicing free throws.
  18. Jamal wants to be back on the Hawks because we are the only team that allowed him to experience the playoffs so far. His game is suited to be a #1 option guy when he's on the court because of his style of play. He's great being the number one guy off the bench or for the bench because their is not that much talent coming out there after the starters on many occasions. As a starter on a team that mainly promotes Josh and Al his style may be dominant and conflicting with theirs while making them work harder on defense. He will play and be portrayed as our best player but as history has told and shown if Jamal is your best player your more than likely lottery instead of playoff bound. He dominates the ball in his own way but unlike Joe it's harder for him to hold his own on defense.
  19. If Smitty isn't up there then why should Joe be? Joe is just a Smitty type player in a different era contract aside. Good.. Well very good at times but not great!!
  20. True basketball is about match ups. Watched all those games and match ups had nothing to do with the losses. I could tell from our teams body language that we didn't come to play. The effort just clearly wasn't there. At the level our team is now and with the talent and coaching we have (even without Horford) we can beat anybody in the league. If we consistently play with effort and unselfishly!! Didn't come to play for a full 48 minutes.
  21. I don't know about the worst player but he may hold a record for being 6'11 and missing the most point blank range lay ups.
