  1. I probably need to quit my job so I want miss any more games. Seriously I miss the Rockets game and the Pacers game and we get blown out in both? Hurt injured and all, it's time to show we're men!!
  2. DO NOT Cheat and DON'T Give Out Hints!!!! Write the name of the player to each question. You may include some reasoning for your answers, but DO NOT include stats, figures or links or other info that would easily give it away. General statements and opinions are acceptable though. The answer can be anyone on our team not named Kirk Hinrich, IVAN, Jerry Stackhouse, Jason Collins, and Donald Sloan (due to lack of PT). Each question has exactly one answer. Players may be used more than once. I will post the answers in a few days once enough people have responded. Here we go! Answers are based on findings as of 4 pm 1/10/2012. 1. I am the only opening day starter that has a higher playoffs Player Efficiency Rating (PER) average than regular season PER. Jeff Teague 2. For this season, I have the lowest PER among the opening day starters. Joe Johnson 3. Like a Fine Wine: As a reserve that has started many games in the past, my True Shooting % has increased rapidly over the last four years, and if I keep this up, I will post my highest PER ever...even better than the years when I used to be a starter! Vladmir Radmanovic 4. Despite my rise in FG% this year, my True Shooting % has decreased over last year, and yet I am on track to post the highest PER of my career as a starter. Josh Smith 5. I have the distinction of having the lowest PER on the team (remember the exceptions I listed at the top). Jannero Pargo 6. As an opening day reserve, my PER this year surpasses two of our opening day starters' current season PER. Plus, it would be the highest I've posted in seven years. Tracy McGrady 7. I am the only starter that posted a 20+ PER last year that hasn't eclipsed that mark this year. Al Horford 8. As a big, I am counted on to provide a lot of things our guards just can't/won't do. While posting the lowest True Shooting % of my career this year since my rookie year, my PER has been the highest it's been in 3 years despite playing the fewest minutes of my career in all but my rookie year and one other. Zaza Pachulia 9. Despite an abberation in my 4th year, my PER has steadily declined each year. However, if I keep up my current pace, I will post the highest PER of my career...surpassing my previous high by 25%! Willie Green 10. I am an opening day starter that has started for multiple years, yet I have never posted a [partial or full] season PER over 20. Marvin Williams 11. In my long career, I have never averaged fewer minutes in a season. However, I have only posted a PER higher than this season's PER twice. Tracy McGrady 12. Wins Shares are an estimate of the number of wins a player has added to his team. Of course, the higher the better. So far this year, I have the highest win share figure on the team. Who am I? Josh Smith Good luck! Had to rethink these two.
  3. Pretty good questions. I was expecting things much simpler!!
  4. We have also improved dramatically on our defense in the absence of Crawford and company. It's a lot easier to play man to man, zone and switch when you have good defense capable players.
  5. What do you think? Seriously he has done everything to breaking records in the block shots department to regularly filling up the stats in all departments. High school kids just take awhile to develop sometimes. Jermaine Oneal spent about 4 years in Portland on the bench until he blossomed in the Pacers trade. Some, like Darius Miles,Jonathan Bender and Gerald Green (if he doesn't step up to the plate this year) have all of the talent but just don't pan out for different reasons. It took Kobe, Tracy and Garnett just a couple years to put it all together. It took Al Harrington coming to our team to look like a star and be a solid contributor from then on out. These last two or three years we saw Josh being a borderline all star. He should have been an all star honestly. This year he is more focused than ever and you can see it and hear it with his demeanor. “It’s not over with,” Josh said. “We have got to keep playing together. We’ve got to keep doing whatever it takes to win. We’ve got to stay focused and stay together.” This is his comments after the game versus the Bulls. This sounds like a leader to me that has his heart with the team and in the game. Kudos to BK for all four of our core. As the season progresses and if we stay healthy physically and mentally we might just understand what makes our team so deadly with our length, speed and athleticism.

    Donald Sloan

It would be nice to see Donald Sloan tonight. If we do it should give us another reason to be excited about these Hawks!! He like Teague, is good at penetrating to the rim and has a quick first step. He can finish hard at the rim as well.

    David Sloan

There should be a David Sloan sighting today. Hopefully he gives a spark like Ivan did coming off the bench. He has a quick first step and should be trying to battle Pargo for minutes. Josh needs to continue playing like he did yesterday if he wants to make the all star team.
  8. If Josh Smith plays "mad" like he did last night against the Bobcats he can easily be that superstar. That might help our shooters Marvin, Joe and yes Al step up and make their shots when Smoove forces the double team in the post.
  9. Boring? Are you serious? Have you been watching most of the other teams in the league. Half of them barely even play above the rim. Too many people are conditioned by media. The grass is not always greener on the other side. This is not an attack on you it's an attack on that subject boring. Half of the Christmas games were boring and these were suppose to be 8 of the top teams coming into the season.
  10. Someone was fired, Paul Westphal. He basically made ownership have to make a choice, him or me. In other words it's still early in the season and the Hawks will be alright!!
  11. I'm not going to lie yesterday was my birthday and I probably should have been mad... but that game was hilarious. From Chuck and Reggie talking what they don't know but us proving them right. Zaza missing point blank range lay ups. Us missing free throws at the end of regulation after that Bulls game(for real?). 3 Overtimes made it pretty interesting. Ivan Johnson came in beasting when they said we needed someone tough on our team. Hilarious all around because I know those weren't the Hawks I've watched change and grow for years now. I guess that's entertainment, whether good or bad.
  12. Long as we get games like this out the way early I'm ok with it. JJ Reddick's game blower had to stick with him pass the extended season. Games like this should stick with you and prepare you for the rest of the season.
  13. His players made him look poor tonight. Joe Johnson again didn't show up when it counted.Josh not being more aggressive on defense and reverted to shooting when we needed buckets. Horford has always been out played by Bosh. Teague was who in that game? He seemed lost. Marvin is so use to sitting in big games to he wasn't a factor. Zaza was a comedian. Rad couldn't find the basket. It's only so much a coach can do. The guys tried to turn it on late and wore theirselves out in the process. Early Lessons. Heat had there share of problems early last year and you see how they turned out. Hawks know/think they can turn it on whenever they want and that's a costly way to play the game.
  14. Once again Teague was a key contributor along with Joe Johnson missing free throws at the end of regulation. You get another chance you got to correct it. If this isn't a lesson to Teague and all of our other players for another close night where we could've won it with free throws I don't know what is. Drew should have them at the practice court right now shooting free throws.
  15. Again I'm glad their having these type of games early in the season. There are some bright spots all up and down our bench. Well maybe not all up and down but there is some bright spots. Now if they play like this come seasons end then we have a problem.
  16. To the top!! We're already # defense in the league.
  17. Just like our starters our bench has plenty of capable scorers that can have a big game (contribution wise) on any night.
  18. Zaza's having a hilarious game. I know Ivan might be a secret weapon for the playoffs like Teague last year but I would really like to see him with the bench instead of Pachulia right now. Again Zaza has been hilarious!!
  19. Chuck is hilarious. He actually doesn't know us very well especially after he dogged us but boasted about Portland (which is basically a west coast version of us). We have a tendecy to have fun with games and keep em close in front of our home crowd. I noticed that against the Nets. We just cruised along until it was time to win. That makes Chuck look right on the money!!
  20. Wade's probably one of the toughest players and superstar in the game. Not a Heat Fan but a realist.
  21. D Rose constantly wills wins. What's the Bulls without Rose? If they scored 26 on us in the first half with Rose what would they have had without him? Would the Bulls even be in conversation?
  22. Horford said it best when he said "We played a good game and then Derrick Rose happened". Derrick Rose is great but a team relying on one man is not a good recipe for success. Just ask Wade, James and Bosh or really ask Cleveland and Toronto. You can even ask a young Garnett and Pierce after Antoine Walker(Ray had a little help). Denver and New Orleans made wiser moves for security. Our main task the next time around is to make sure Derrick Rose doesn't happen. Until Chicago wises up and gets some real help for him we have an edge over them with our new found defense if we can stop the Derrick Rose effect.
  23. Says Acie Laws #2 fan. No knock on you just knocking your coaching. What is so atrocious about getting good minutes from your bench when your up in the game. He still brought the starters back in when we had a lead and they/we had plenty of opportunities to win the game. LD can't play for us he can only prepare us for it. The rest of the story is on the players. It's a shortened season and everybody has to sprint in this marathon. There are going to be a lot of teams dragging in to finish this race and I'd rather our best players have the freshest legs.
  24. Josh understands that he won't have his athleticism forever. He wants to still be relevant in this league after all that is said and done. It's very understandable why he refuses to give up trying his jump shot and I'm sure he will eventually have it down pack but for now he needs to redirect it. What's the best way to practice your shot and get a feel for it? Free throws !! Josh needs to spend more time focusing on making his free throws and watching his shot go in on a regular. That way it will prepare him more for his in game jumper. Use your current strengths to perfect your weaknesses. With his ability to do damage inside it will cause trouble for those defending him and give him plenty of free throw opportunities. Why not get those shots and treat them as if they were in game shots that Josh loves to attempt. You get those free throws down pack and then start shooting his jumper again and I bet he will see a big difference. Josh is not scared of the pressure of making the big shots he just lacks the concentration to make them. He has to deal with wondering if the crowd is going to boo him for even taking them and all of the doubters on court and off court. Free throws are the ultimate concentrated shot until you get them down from repetition. Once your shot becomes automatic like McGrady said "you don't lose it, it's like riding a bike". Let's give Josh a bike with training wheels "free throws" and encourage him to take those seriously. Believe me or not Josh has a shot or at least the form for a nice shot he is just lacking concentration. He's not going to stop taking them and jeopardize furthering his career as his athleticism dwindles. Booing him is not helping and he shouldn't be booed for all the other intangibles he brings for us on the court. Let's baby him a little and get a little more excited when he takes and makes free throws. I know it sounds petty but it just might be the encouragement needed to make Josh the best player he could possibly be for us. We know he has grown and matured a lot but he still has some what of a young mentality. Let's be a little more understanding on his side and try to redirect how he chooses to go about this particular learning process.
