To be honest it would be hard for me to be a fan if we were no longer the under dogs. The Spurs in all their greatness and having possibly one of the games best power forwards are still considered the under dogs in most cases. It would not only feel like cheating to me but it would brush every true Hawks fan to the side or water us down because everybody("most people") would be Hawks fans by default. You couldn't say I was a Hawks fan since.... With pride because the bandwagoners will just state how they sucked than or what ever what ever and take away from our pride of winning it with dignity from the ground up. AND DON'T LET THEM LOSE OR FAIL TO GET CHAMPIONSHIPS... It would probably be the last time a great name chose us as a destination. It would really make us look like Clippers of old.... We couldn't even win with Lebron and Melo type of laughing stocks

After looking at that list I would rather try to develop Lucas. Nobody of need who is worth something are leaving there respective teams.

It's a difference between having a talented team an a competitive team. Most of our recent years in the playoffs have come from our talent. If we were more competitive we could've beat the the hungry Pacers. We could've beat the Bulls when we had Jamal Crawford and a 2-0 lead. We could have really took these more "competitive" teams to the limit because we had the talent. We competed that first year against the Celtics when they won it all but there after we've just been riding our talent and doing just good enough. BUT THAT IS NOT COMPETING WHEN YOU CAN DO MORE!!! Josh and Teague were murdering the Bulls when Joe and Jamal couldn't get it done but they decided to sway from doing what was needed. I can go so on and so on but on is you can have the most talented team and not win it(like the Heat their 1st big 3 year) or you can compete and exceed expectations. When people expect a squad like ours to stay in 3rd without Horford it's laughable but our expectations rised because our team was competing and full of competitors. Contenders are just that those that are considered to have a good chance but from my standpoint our team looks to have better talent than the current Bulls but they are always contenders because they always compete!!

Naw I think y'all got it confused on what competitive means. At the start of this season you could look at our squad even with Horford and realize we had no real stars and definitely no superstar. We excelled reguardless. Paul Millsap wasn't even the biggest star inU tah which was barely a playoff team if that. When you have people like Kyle Korver and Demarre (I still can't spell his name off top) Carroll being not only our starters but our stars you know you got a real group of guys competing every night. Not a super talented squad that is not living up to their talents like the current Pacers or the Josh Smith/Marvin Williams type talent and squad we've had. Jeff Teague is coming into his own and Paul Millsap has definitely proved his worth as well as Korver and even Demarre but by their selves on another squad I could bet they wouldn't be the biggest star on the squad. They have raised their level of play used their strengths and competed. If Josh played to his full potential he'd be rivaling Lebron. If Marvin played to his full potential he might be rivaling Durant or Carmelo. It sounds crazy hearing it in hindsight because they don't play with all their heart or use their strengths to their advantage. That's what this Hawks team has been doing all year. Competing!!!!

Look at how talented the Pacers are and than how they look on the court when they don't play to their highest potential. That would depress me as a fan.

What's wrong with having a competitive team??? The Spurs are competitive... Kobe, Durant, Lebron and comp are competitive. Only one team wins but you think OKC is complaining that they have Durant and Westbrook and haven't won a finals. Should they trade them because their too competitive to tank but haven't won it all. Should we go thru years of being the Magic, Hornets/Pelicans, 76ers, Kings. If we were in the Wolves position where we were competitive but just can't cut it I would understand. Other than that it just sounds ridiculous. Maybe y'all weren't Hawks fans when we had that 13 win season or 26 the next season and just prayin for highlights and a good play or two but I'm happy that we've been putting ourselves in position to play longer these past couple of years. Honestly with the talent we've had and lost (like Joe, Josh Smith, Josh Childress, Marvin, Jamal Crawford) if we played a lot more competitive like this team plays we could have gone alot further!!

We need a good small forward!1 Pacers...Not so much.2 It might not take that high of a price as long as the Pacers continue to succeed without Danny Granger. I'd easily give up a Carroll, Antić/Ayón, and maybe even Shelvin Mack for Granger. (Note: Didn't check salaries just naming who I'd make expendable for Granger.)

I wish Josh the best!! I would have been just as happy if not more if he came . They say you don't appreciate it til it's gone....I think we're/we've constructed a decent team but Josh will forever be in our history books. Youngest player to reach mile stones in blocks and other categories. He made up for team mistakes on plenty occasions and though he's plenty of his own his benefits outweighed his defaults. Hopefully collectively the team we have now can make up for all the game changing stats we loss with Josh but honestly he's like the 2nd to 3rd best athlete offensively & defensively in the league behind Lebron and Wade. Defense wins championships and Detroit though young if they click right could be the next Pacers very soon. I'm really looking forward to these Hawks/Pistons games. I'm so tired of the hate I want some of our fans to see what practice,confidence and support can do for a jumper. It's the NBA anybody can learn how to shoot...

A sign and trade for maybe Jeff/Horford, +filler and Dwight could work as well !! Point is Ferry got options!!

Hawks find a way to get Phil Jackson here. Followed by convincing Chris Paul to sign. Convince Josh to stay for a little under the max and convince Dwight Howard to top it off. With Horford, L.Williams, Teague, Korver and the rookies still on the squad and some draft picks and free agents to add. Maybe/Hopefully even keeping Ivan Johnson. A team that features atleast 8 Great to Good Players with 5 starting and 3 coming off the bench. That's before the draft and so far Danny Ferry is proving to have a good draft track record with his current 1st and second round picks. He has also created a masterful salary cap move that gives us multiple options!! Aspiring Great Players want to play for Great Coaches like Phil. Great Centers want to play with Great Point Guards and other complimentary pieces. Best Friends love winning together!!(Don't forget Lou Williams and his Atlanta ties to Dwight he and Smith playing together.) Unfortunately so does Anthony Morrow. Picture an Atlanta Market that features Chris Paul jersey's and Dwight Howard jersey's. A team that can boast they had Great Coaches like Lenny Wilken's and now Phil Jackson (just to mention two). What will Mike Woodson, Larry Drew (and jokingly but seriously Terry Scotts) legacy become after all said and done? This is Ferry's big chance to be a relevant person in Atlanta Sports History for his five remaining years and he would be highly commended for such a short turn around with not ever missing a playoff beat!!

I would like to see a Woodson vs Drew matchup as well as a Joe Johnson and Brooklyn vs. Hawks. We've matched up pretty good with the Pacers as well !!

The Magic are a perfect example!! Look at what they got for Howard and now JJ. There only hope is to draft excellent and hope their worthy draft picks stay.

Actually some of y'all are sleeping on Wilson Chandler. He is a beast that can play both forward positions and a good defender!! Getting him will mean we've given up on Horford or Dwight which means Josh is a little more expendable. Josh knows how valuable he is especially as long as Dwight is on the market. Nobody in the league does so much defensively across the board consistently as Josh has though so he has to be a keeper!!

Poor Dr. Reality still mad at BK who is responsible for 2 of our stars that are still on our team. Don't mean to give you a reality check but I think you mean Mike Woodson and I honestly think LD has him on the X's and O's as well. Remember LD got to understudy him so he knows most of what Woodson knows plus some of his own personal tricks !!

I'm not appalled at all at getting Tyreke and/or Rudy Gay especially if we aren't able to get Dwight.

I saw some of the plays ran at the open scrimmage and you can see alot of those plays and more in the real games !! Our defense is very aggressive and we are dangerous running and in the half court.

Larry Drew put a little pep in is step after seeing Woodson excel so well early. I'm sure he doesn't believe Wooson can out coach him and he's making sure he attempts to prove it!! If we continue to set our bar as high as New York's we will be very enticing to big free agents next season!!

What is so hard to believe that we live in Atlanta where plenty atheletes and entertainers live and visit and that some of us are fortunate enough to run into them and talk to them. Quit the hate!! Popeye as a Hawks fan was just sharing information he received with a semi insiders tip. It should be appreciated. I run into people all the time some I get t talk to some I'm just in there presence. They don't live on mars they reside and go to some of the same places some of us are fortunate to be at!!

Teague played great and was unstoppable in the 1st quarter. Coach Drew just made a simple coaching decision to give him a little rest at the end of the first. Maybe he was also playing match ups since Teague seemed to play alot more timid when fairing with Brooks compared to going against the smaller Isaiah Thomas. The reserves came in and played well particularly Lou Williams. Teague got rested a little longer than expected and didn't come back in aggressive when he did come back in. He didn't do the things he started the game with and he was alot more passive. Josh started off sloppy (takig and missing shots shawty) but was affective all over the court especially after the first quarter. I'm surprise he only had 6 assist because he was our best facilitator on the court!! Whether it was a fast break or just a solid pass in the half court Josh Smith made a huge difference. Lou Williams balled !! Ball hog of course almost reminded me of Allen Iverson. Like Allen Iverson he also did a pretty good job on defense in the passing lanes and made some good passes here and there. Horford was all around solid and did what we should expect of him 20 & 10 or at least a double double every game... The reserves did there thing Zaza (although a starter ), Ivan Johnson, Morrow keeps showing he deserves more playing time. How could I forget Korver with his game high 22 points 5-5 3pt and just knowing when to take the shot and when to pass it up. Korver still struggled on defense and not because of lack of effort but if he can play like he did last night he will be a key exfactor in helping our team get further along and a better record than most predicted for us and for this season!!

Alot of people hating on his shot selection but nobody would force you to drive and be that active after almost any injury. He still ran the floor hard, got some dunks and took the challenge to guard Harden (a little too late) at the end.

I can't remember the time or type of play that happened but I saw how Josh landed and I knew he got hurt. He toughed it out and played through it two to three more quarters so I thought he was okay...

Just saying if you got to make a trade you got to trade the right person!! Josh makes an impact good or bad on all sides of the court. If Horfords going to barely be there than maybe he shouldn't be here.

As horrible as Smoove played he still managed to get almost 20 & 10 and still was a force on defense. Once he started guarding Harden at the end Harden didn't score!! First game all eyes on me jitters is what I'd account it as... If he allows this to be a trend than we have a problem. Or is Horford stepping into Marvin's old role of a disappearing act (especially on defense) a problem? Is he scared he might injure his shoulder again?

Is Rudy Gay and Tyreke Evans still available?! If we were able to keep our core 3 plus Williams we would have Teague PG, Evans SG, Gay SF, Smith PF, Horford C and Williams as the sixth man!! The starting lineup would have capable defenders at every position and a quick and explosive starting lineup with people like Williams and our rookies coming off the bench !!
