  1. 0-14 now. TNT flashed a stat earlier that was telling. Horford finished with 11 points, 5 rebs and a mind boggling -34 in 27 minutes. Only Avery Bradley was worse.
  2. Truth be told, Atlanta missed out on a golden opportunity to be considered titletown. Think about what our teams went through from '95-'00. The Braves had clinched a title and was up 2-0 on the Yankees in '96. Our Falcons went to the Super Bowl in '98. We should have had two more titles AT LEAST if Wohlers didn't hang that slider and Eugene hadn't got caught smh. Here's another thing: the Yankees always made it known they would only hang championship banners instead of division titles. Management was always afraid to make changes because of Bobby's regular season success. It's akin to GA fans who didn't want to see Coach Richt fired because of what happened at TN. Both UGA and Falcon fans kept saying, "we were one play away from the BCS/Super Bowl" after 2012. We're taught to accept being mediocre instead of demanding championships. The point is, we will never make the bold moves necessary. The last franchise to actually do something bold was the Julio trade. Unfortunately, people still complain about that trade.
  3. Believe it out not, the Braves and Pirates HAD agreed to a trade for Barry Bonds. Both sides were getting ready to make the trade official until Jim Leyland found out about the trade and pitched a fit to the GM.
  4. It'll never happen. They've always hated our guts for years, and we're a proverbial joke no matter if it's the Hawks, Falcons or Braves. They didn't start the Cleveland tel-a-thon until around Game 6.
  5. According to Mike Conti, Teague and co. were expecting Boston to foul since they had one to give. When it became clear they weren't going to foul, it was far too late for anything to develop. If that's true, Coach Bud should have called to and come up with an actual play. I still can't fathom holding on to the ball for 15 seconds.
  6. Between the Braves/Red Sox and Hawks/Celtics, we will play Boston six times over the next four days. The Bravevs suck and have lost their last five games, and the Hawks just lost two straight to the Celtics. I would be done with both teams if we go 0-for-Boston this week.

  8. With Toronto's loss, we are now 10 games up on Chicago who jumped Toronto for 2nd in the East. Toronto has now lost 5 in a row though Washington did win. Here's something funny that happened at MSG earlier tonight. https://vine.co/v/O20YutbwJt6/
  9. Heard on the radio last night that the Cavs would have to go 22-1 just to catch us if we go .500. We should clinch a playoff berth by Wednesday (magic number down to 4). Our magic number to clinch the Southeast is like 10, and the magic number to clinch the #1 seed in the East is 15. Washington is in a free fall, and Toronto has lost 4 in a row since beating us. They're only a half game up on Chicago for the #2 seed, and Cleveland is a full game behind Toronto.
  10. Thunder bench only scored 22 combined points while our bench scored a combined 32 points. Outside of Durant, Westbrook, and Ibaka, the next leading scorer was Adams with 9 points. That's why I was amused by the critics saying we need a superstar. We saw how OKC were becoming unglued in the second half once their shots stopped falling. I mean, their bench gave them little support to where Durant, Westbrook and Ibaka played over 35 minutes apiece. In the meantime, not a single Hawks player played more than 33 minutes. Our leading scorer had 13 off the bench. What I really enjoyed the most about this win was how we imposed our will from the 2nd quarter on. We were living in the paint all night long. They tried everything they could to stop Korver, and we still scored over 100 against them.
  11. I'm really glad they got embarrassed today because all of their trash talking was pretty weak. Midway through the 3rd quarter, they only scored 40 something points while allowing 80 something. They played their entire season on the premise they would face Miami in 7, but it turns out, they got eliminated by Miami for the third straight year. On the other hand, congrats to the Heat for reaching the Finals 4 years in a row. It would be nice for us to experience going to the Finals once in our lifetimes.
  12. Just got my tickets this morning! I'I'll be in Section 317. LET'S GO HAWKS!
  13. They're also going to show the 1993 Eastern Conference game 3 between the Hawks and Bulls on NBATV at 4 p.m. today if anyone is interested.
  14. My only gripe is, if he intended on signing with Houston all this time, why did he feel the need to prolong the inevitable?
  15. Mark Heisler @MarkHeisler OMG this could happen: #Laker source told me they'd consider Barnes or Klay or Curry+Bogut+No. 1 for #D!2. GS hasn't yet offered HB/KT or SCabout 3 hours ago
  16. But what time tomorrow? Will it be 1 p.m. CT? EST? or PST? Or would it be in the evening? He should do it like signing day. Have five different hats sitting in front of him and spends the next 30 minutes staring at each one before finally picking.
  17. Game 6's ending reminds me of a similar situation. Game 4 of the 2002 WCF when Horry got the perfect bounce to hit that game winning shot.
  18. At this point, Lebron has pretty much redeemed himself for "The Decision". And his stat-line for tonight was amazing: 37 pts, 12 rbs, 4 assts and only 2 tos. Looking at the box score is interesting. Wade scored 23, Battier scored 18, and Chalmers scored 14. The only other person who scored was Anderson. Bosh, Miller and Allen all had goose eggs.
  19. Heat are 2-1 since their Big 3 came together. Already more successful than Boston's Big 3. Do you think they will make it to the Finals for a 4th time? Who would be their biggest challenger next year?
  20. And so was Ginobili. He was either on the Heat's payroll, or he had compromising pictures of Pop. He always seemed to make ill-timed passes over the last two games. I really feel bad for Duncan. He had the game of his life on Tuesday, and it was all for nothing. Then tonight, he had a couple of chances at tying the game but failed. I have to say though, Leonard did everything he could to keep the Spurs close. I'm not mad the Heat won. We were treated to two classic games in Miami. Such a shame for Duncan though.
  21. Mark it down: Miami wins by double digits and 'Bron gets his Finals MVP, so the media can continue to make comparisons to him and Jordan.
  22. Miami has not lost two in a row in months. Miami simply cannot win if Lebron plays passively. He rarely drives to the basket anymore, and he has only gone to the foul line a handful of times. It's almost like watching Joe Johnson in a sense. Lebron will halfheartedly drive to the basket and either dish it to a shooter or back it out. Mike Miller did everything he could last night (5-5 for 15 points). Birdman has been ineffective; Wade's jumpshot is useless (did anyone see that horrendous travel where he tried to get Duncan to bite on his pumpfake?), Bosh has gone missing. So who else can they really count on? Up until the third quarter, Lebron didn't even break double digits in points. Look at these +/- numbers: James -32, Bosh -21, Wade -29. Also Lebron took 21 shots whereas Wade and Bosh both combined to take 25 shots. Also, the entire team had 10 FTAs. What San Antonio did last night was a clinic. They clogged the lane and forced Lebron to shoot. He had no confidence in his jumpshot. Even their fans got in on the act lol.
