I'm sorry, I know you disagree with me, but why the NBA needs more precautions, safeguards and redundancies than a surgical operating room, well beyond those of seemingly any other business in America, defies all reason and rational explanation. I'm glad players are out marching. To protest police brutality first and foremost. But I can't help but notice the absurdity of the onerous and unprecedented expectations specifically placed on sports leagues in terms of Covid-19. People are going to stores. People are going to work. People are going to protests. Huge protests of thousands of people. No one is asking them to social distance. It would be demeaning and insulting to ask protesters to social distance. Yet we are still walking on eggshells over the return of professional sports? Some say sports is not important. Well it's no less important than other non essential business. By the time July 31 rolls around Covid-19 will be so far in the public's rearview mirror. That's two months from now. If the NBA is excluding teams like the Hawks because it will be too "risky", that is so incredibly short sighted and stupid.

So NBA players are walking arm in arm with complete strangers in various protests. But, it's still too dangerous and risky to put a ball in a hoop in an empty gym.

I'll be watching. But I don't know how they measures ratings anymore with so many different providers and platforms.

They won't be restrarting at Christmas either. Might not be well into 2021. A whole freaking year of no Hawks basketball is very much of possiblity.

There are some reports saying the season will likely end in October. Off-season timelines are not high on their list of considerations it appears.

Glad that we have a voice. I think allowing only the playoff teams to come back would further cement the image of a league of have and have nots. Covid-19 considerations notwithstanding, that isn't the look Adam Silver wants.

Why not have something for lottery teams? Having Hawks basketball to look forward to would be a source of hope.

I stand by that, @Spud2nique can even have the honors of selecting the avatar. However, all signs point towards a late July return unless something crazy happens.

I said I thought NBA basketball would return but I never made any avatar claims of any kind about basketball coming back. It's not just the handful of games per se, it's the practices, a chance for the team to be together and seeing where guys are at. Schlenk is publicly lobbying for it, and it's not just because of money.

How is a 10 month layover beneficial? It's not. That's too long. You don't get better at playing basketball together by not playing basketball together.
