1. Bench match ups: Zaza vs Gortat JoeS/Hunter vs Bass/Anderson Evans vs Barnes Crawford vs Redick Teague vs Williams. On paper only Crawford is better but I have high hopes about Jet-T, Evans is quite underrated, Joe still can do his thing and Zaza's hustler. Biggest issue with our second unit is defense. Who's going to protect the paint?
2. It'll be really hard to improve over last season but when everybody stays healthy even ECFs are possible. Very exciting season with the highest expectations since over a decade.
3. My vote goes to Josh. No one expects any improvement from him this year. But I hope he'll grow up and show significant improvement not only over his last season.
4. Iverson is seriously undersized SG. He needs to score a lot to overcome his deficiencies. He still can do a lot but everyone is focused on his problems.
5. Garcia, Villanueva and Horford? That's pretty nice lineup. They will level up in international basketball.
6. Interesting stats from Crawford's last season: FG% 3P% wins 44% 41% losses 39% 33%
JJ's numbers for comparison:
FG% 3P% wins 45% 38% losses 42% 34% Crawford is very streaky shooter, will frustrate us many times during upcoming season. Both shoot much better when they're rested, esp. JJ 3 Pt shooting differs dramatically: 31% when playing day after day vs 44% with 3+ days rest! So there's hoping they can help each other in that regard (you hear me Woody!).
7. His shot looks so nice but he shoots with such low FG% (he's often critisized for bad shot selection). I bet we'll see a lot JC-iso when JJ is on the bench. Teague - Crawford - Evans - Hunter(?) - Pachulia will be entertaining second face of the Atlanta with no D up tempo game. And JJ >>> JC because of defense, consistency and leadership.
8. I agree with you both. Remember also that Nelson was having All-Star season before injury. Boston's vulnerability is health. With healthy Garnett they're contenders. Without him Hawks have a shot in playoffs thanks to good matchups but in RS we're still behind. Cleveland's problem might be team chemistry after PO exit. But they won 66 games last season and they got better in off season. Repeating last season success will be really hard.
9. 46 wins, 5th spot, 1st round exit. Already better teams got even stronger which means they're out of reach and Bulls, Raptors, or Heat will take away 4th place in the East. I'm afraid Crawford as a 6th man won't work. Teague is an upgrade though, hopefully he'll see some minutes..
10. I'd take Smith. Warrick can't do anything else than dunking. Smith can do everything else plus he could teach some things Al and Josh. Wallace is not even a shadow of himself.
11. Drugs made Reingman to try to shoot 3 ball instead of inside game he was created for. What does JSmoove take?
12. Edit: when young he was just flying: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-L__KlQ_GDI
13. One of the best in game dunkers was Shawn Kemp http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vRkGFdSOFeU
14. Again from Schumann (Day 2): "I don't know what to make of Westbrook. He's playing with confidence and has had plenty of highlights (including a throw-down off a Josh Smith airball)" "Josh Smith is still struggling with his jumper and he lost the ball a few times on drives as well." No one will give u a spot because of couple of blocks and a dunk, mr Smoove.
15. I'm a little bit prejudiced towards him because of very negative opinions coming from Knicks fans. But yes, judging from interviews he's a good guy.
16. Flip is poor's man Crawford (aka Crawful).
17. We need true starting C period.
18. We match up well against Miami. JO is good defender but not rebounder, JSmoove will outplay Haslem, Moon does little besides dunks when he's open. Chalmer's a rookie and luckily he doesn't go to the basket too often, so is Beasley who is upredictable and plays nice offense at times, but he tends to make dumb turnovers. They have no one else on the bench and often have to go small. Wade is Wade. One of the best playoffs players in the game.
19. We need a coach with offensive plan, a guy able to adjust gameplan during the game. Orlando, Boston adjusted in second half, we were firing jumpers hoping for 3 pt streak (like against Lakers).
20. Maybe he read my comment, because he wasn't ballhogging at all vs Magic and giving ball away when doubled. Too bad he couldn't hit anything including floaters some other poster here advised he should shoot when he struggles.
21. Theo Ratliff is still one of the best shotblockers in the game. He whooped some *ss tonite.
22. Joe's not good passer when he dribbles. When he's doubled he usually runs back instead of giving the ball away.
23. The only person that can fire Woody is JJ. I don't see a reason why he would want to do this.
