  1. Trae has literally come back with an improved aspect of his game every year of his career, it was only a matter of time until defense was added to the list. Some, like myself, have been saying for years that most young players will naturally progress on that side of the ball with improved bball IQ. Trae is constantly figuring out new ways to impact the game.
  2. I believe I heard a version of this as well at some point.
  3. It’s easy to ignore Trae if he’s not on TV, but when you open up the ballot to vote, he is perched firmly at the top of all guards due to his stats. You can’t ignore that. Edwards to me is a great example. He is easily a starter for the West but is buried on the ballot because of counting stats and his place in the voting reflects that. People are lazy, Trae is the most productive guard on the ballot. If you knew nothing else about basketball you would just roll with that.
  4. No schedule favors coming our way. Building momentum is going to be hard. We needed this win to stay afloat. We are solidly in the 9-12 seed tier in the East. Going to take some major improvements to get back to .500, and still need even more good fortune to climb out of the Play-In range. #4-8 in the East (Mia, Ind, Orl, Cle, NYK) are all 4 to 6 games above .500. There is a huge gap between them and the teams we are next to at the moment. My only hope is that, by God’s grace, we can be at or slightly above .500 by the All Star break. We have 22 games before then, 14 home, 8 away. 14 of those games are against winning teams. 3 more games are against the Lakers and Warriors who are both only 1 game under .500 and will get the benefit of the superstar treatment. So at least 17 games where we would be the underdogs. We have the benefit of a 5 game and 6 game home stands during that time, except we suck at home this year. We have our work cut out for us just to get back to being average. Go Hawks.
  5. Did we even run a zone once tonight? I mean dang, they have one player killing you by getting in the lane. He should be met by two big bodies every single time.
  6. That was terrible coaching strategy. Our players are idiots. True. But how you don’t even attempt to put a speed bump in front of SGA is beyond me.
  7. We actually let this game get to a final shot……. Guess what Quinn. NOW you let SGA drive in for a layup. Do not let anyone defend a 2 point shot
  8. Why are we letting SGA get a head of steam to drive in the paint? Why are we not forcing anyone else in a blue jersey to dribble the damn basketball? Thats on coaching dude, I’m sorry. They have one offensive engine that can carry them back and we are letting him play without any resistance.
  9. Chet tall for no reason. Yall be overhyping these unathletic tree limb looking dudes. Getting taken to the hole by a 6-4 guard.
  10. Exactly. Force the issue, pressure the ball, zone the outlet. Lapses? We are letting them hang a 40 burger in the 3rd
  11. Nobody should be asked to play 1 on 1 for a full possession against a guard that they won’t let you touch. Quinn is coaching to lose if he thinks he can go 1 on 1 like this the rest of the game.
  12. 31 points given up in less than 8 minimum this quarter. Do we even have a trap or blitz in our playbook? Do we teach getting the hot man off the damn ball? You can let SGA just get everything he wants without resistance.
  13. Jalen with these dimes is next level stuff. OO with not only the nuts, but the ability to block these dudes going for the open highlight dunks. He did the same thing vs Ja. That’s rare ability.
  14. 1) Jalen just told everyone “I’m Him!” 2) We are giving the Thunder so many open shots allowing them to stay within striking distance despite our good play. This is a bad trend that has to stop. Just because we score is not an excuse to take off on defense.
  15. We have a lot of ground to make up before I will judge another team’s misfortunes. We got to take care of ourselves first.
  16. Nets still better than us…. Imagine how bad we have to be that we are still 2 games behind a squad that went 2-8 in their last 10 games.
  17. The only thing that was wrong with Kev and JC was us dodging tax. You can’t tell me we couldn’t still use JC’s size and rebounding, or Kev’s skillset in place of the minutes given to the Matthews. I don’t lose sleep at night wishing they were still Hawks, but we have literally been a worse team without them.
  18. I agree that a light bulb has seemed to turn on for Jalen. I think for the majority of his bball career he has always been bigger and stronger than the other guys on the court. It looks like at this level it is starting to click that his explosiveness makes him FASTER than the other guys too. When he is in attack mode, he can get in to the paint and explode vertically to the rim before his defender can even make up his mind on where he wants to go. He is playing with a violence and confidence to his game where he is not afraid to attack. It’s as if he woke up and realized that he is physically superior to the competition. He will for sure blossom in to a special player at this rate
  19. I guess my point is that we have no track record of pulling off a home run trade for a star. Especially in this current Hawks era. You would have to go back to Joe Johnson to find a trade for a “superstar” and even then it was so controversial that it broke up an entire ownership group. That’s the level of pressure that you’re dealing with when trying to make these moves happen. This entire thread is about trades for name guys, and they will likely never happen. What will happen is what ALWAYS happens, and that’s a trade for cap relief or a back of rotation player who won’t disrupt the minutes of our main guys. We are not going to make a big time trade mid season. Whether we genuinely try or not.
  20. Because, WE are the delusional ones as Hawks fans. Our best trade in recent memory is Luka for Trae + a pick. Maybe the Capela trade as a close second. Maybe Rondo for LouWill. That’s the level of trades we make. When it’s big, it favors the other team. So we end up just dealing small or not at all.
  21. I’m starting to think that maybe us Hawks fans are the delusional ones.
  22. Doesn’t matter how weak the draft looks some of yall will still be loosing your minds come draft night that we didn’t trade up in to the top 5 to select your fave prospect.
  23. He is giving Vic Beasley vibes right now.
  24. I’ll take your word as I don’t do TPE arithmetic. But agreed, it’s time to start playing chess and get off some of these contracts for the long term play.
  25. A Siakam trade accomplishes both. A third “star” rental who costs a couple of meaty contracts to acquire and leaves in the offseason which frees up enough cap that we can perform a soft rebuild in FA lol
