  1. Coaches votes should have to match their gameplans. If you send doubles, box and-1’s, traps on PNR, etc…, against a player you cannot vote for a another guy who you defend straight up and cite winning as the excuse. Clearly, Trae Young would bust that ass if you left a defender on him 1v1 all game long and it would probably result in more of those coveted wins. So pat yourself on the back, coaches, your gameplan was successful. Don’t double down and punish him for the team loss.
  2. My thought is why would WE trade OO and DJ if it weren’t for a big fish? Woj says CJ is off the table. Who else does Nola have that would make our FO want to move off of DJ and OO? There is no collection of role players that is worth that haul.
  3. Oh wow, yal are funny old farts lol AJ McClean is the same AJ from Backstreet Boys CJ Stroud is the likely NFL ROY, starting QB for Houston. Lily Singh is a beautiful and hilarious actress/comedian/late night personality. Parsons, NFL star. Kai Cenat was just shouted out courtside at a Hawks game last week, social media influencer. Tristan Jass is another influencer. We know JHuD, Ron Artest. The rest I definitely had to google but were loosely familiar.
  4. Agreed! Not one player can make us a good defensive team. It’s a culture that has to be bought in to. Effort, communication, toughness, resilience, and CONFIDENCE
  5. Jalen would have looked nice in the dunk contest. I don’t know if Jaquez has any real ups.
  6. Congrats to Trae. Proud of him for putting the fans first. He would be a 5 time All Star if he took the injury replacement invite before. But it’s all good man. Happy for him and Hawks nation.
  7. Seriously doubt that is what is happening. It’s more likely that his fire and brimstone posts are a symptom of a mental and emotional crisis due to the traumatic life events that have occurred recently and he has not been 100% locked in to his career as a ball player. Not that posting bible references is bad, it’s not. Nor is being a believer. It’s just a lack of discernment as a public figure that stands out as a potential red flag which matches up with the timeline of his lack of playing time.
  8. I don’t know if anyone has noticed but, we aren’t getting anything out of the kid right now anyway. We have enough history of holding on to a player too long to where he has no value that I am willing to make that move on from him. Holding and waiting hasn’t worked out well for us. It isn’t a salary dump when we are getting a player that can actually help us on the court right now. It’s the offseason where we can decide if Okoro is worth resigning or letting him walk based on his play in the 2nd half of the season.
  9. Both would be FA’s https://www.spotrac.com/nba/washington-wizards/delon-wright-17848/ Wright is an UFA, Okoro is a RFA. If anything it helps clear some of the books if we don’t want to keep them around.
  10. Say what you want but if we could add a Delon Wright and Okoro to our rotation that would be a HUGE boost to our defensive upside. I love Delon as a combo guard that fits next to any of our current guard rotation. Okoro is an okay piece that I would rather see on the court instead of the Matthews. You would essentially be swapping playing time from Mills/Forrest/Mathews/Matthews to Wright and Okoro. Not sure the assets going out but I like the influx of PLAYABLE defenders that aren’t a complete joke on offense.
  11. The only reason anyone on this board ever got behind trading DJ was because we were told he had “real value and interest” from other teams and we thought that meant we were going to get a really good player in return. The moment we started getting lowball offers is when I stopped caring about trading him. Fit doesn’t matter as we have no issue putting up points with him and Trae. We never have. That’s just a narrative to support another narrative. Defensively, sure. We let DJ guard Steph, a smaller PG than him, and he still got cooked. So it’s not about the defensive mismatches. That another lazy take. The truth is, when you lose as much as we were losing, everyone is quick to want to try something different. But the moment teams started driving down DJ’s trade value, that narrative shifted and our FO seemingly has wisened up to look elsewhere for roster moves. The character stuff is nothing but noise. We are better off keeping DJ. I don’t see many ways to improve this roster via trade at the deadline. It is what it is.
  12. He was/is so young. People take time to develop in to themselves. Im not surprised by his maturing but very pleased nonetheless. He isn’t chirping on the court as much either. I think he is actually locked in and I love it. Just hoop. And if it was me personally I would not be fake friendly to any of the coaches/players that sold him out. No words needed.
  13. People been talking about DJ’s character since he was drafted. He has always had BS concerns about his upbringing. The same way they wanted give red flags to Ant Man. It just comes with territory when you are a confident young player who isn’t afraid to speak up for yourself.
  14. If Quin truly said no to trading DJ, I am good with knowing that. Reaves aint it at all.
  15. At full strength I think we are the same .500-ish squad we have been since 21-22 season. I think we are lacking something to make us consistent winners. I don't know how much time Quin needs to get things right, but I'm not encouraged considering the lack of lineup creativity in lieu of trades. I will say, if the lightbulb ever goes off, we have everything we need outside of frontcourt dominance and team defense.
  16. Hawks are a tale of multiple teams this year. 8-7 in their first 15, then we lose JJ 4-12 in the next 16, includes 4-10 stretch w/o JJ and 5 games missed by Hunter in that span (1-4) then 8-8 in our last 16 games I hate the injury excuse because DJ and Trae should be good enough to raise our floor, but you can't deny the results. Using Brad Rowlands lingo, we are due for some positive regression coming up. This team, flawed or not, is a lot closer to a mid, .500 type of squad than they are a lottery team. With no changes, it may take all season to climb out of the cellar, but it's good to see that we have at least stayed competitive since JJ returned, and having Hunter back, hopefully we pick up more momentum going forward
  17. Yall are funny and I deserve it lol Nah, it’s a weeknight, adults have busy schedules. Sometimes you just have to stay home and catch up over the phone when you can’t get together in person lol My chat game is legit, laying the groundwork for in person over the weekend. If you must know!
  18. Great win, I had a hot phone date but kept the game on in the background. We have a lot of areas of improvement, even in a win. Lakers are just as dysfunctional as is but a win is a win, and beating Lebron is never easy. Happy to see Kobe and AJ out there. One would believe that they would get more minutes with how much we struggle this season. But hopefully they are promoted next season to the rotation. Go Hawks!
  19. I like him off the bench, but yes, to be a vital starter he is too unreliable.
  20. Missed the game due to football. Glad we won.
  21. Cool, so, see you in March, Dre?
  22. No coach would ever let Trae kill them all game long like we allow ANY superstar perimeter player to off against us. That is a coaching, scheme, philosophy, etc…. Quin is not trying to win games, he’s trying to prove he is smarter than everyone else. I hate coaches like that. Quin was brought in because he convinced the front office he could take this group and get more out of them than Nate was able to. He was supposed to be the perfect mix of X’s and O’s and talent development. He is coaching as if he knows he can lose and his job is still safe. He has zero urgency to his gameplans. We can mix up the rotations and try out different players and combinations but we keep rolling out the same guys AS IF it is working, when it is not. He has no answers and now the entire roster is the scapegoat. The same players he said he could take to the next level are now hopeless. We look worse than were last season with the majority of the same guys. We were hovering around .500 when Nate lost the locker room. We are knocking on 10 games below .500 before the All Star break. That is unacceptable no matter who you are. This was not a roster that was going through a rebuild. Blame execution, sure, but the coach is responsible for playing the guys who are best able to execute. He is responsible for getting players ready to perform. He is no scapegoat for all of our problems but he is a part of the problem nonetheless.
  23. Our defense is really atrocious. Stop me if you heard that before. But seriously, Bob is calling it out, we are not picking up ball carriers until they are touching paint. There is little to no resistance outside the 3pt line. Klay Thompson walked in to a wide open three while Bogi was playing him to drive. Do our players not understand scouting reports? Would you rather Klay Thompson take a wide open three or be forced drive and make a play with the ball? It’s the easiest answer on the test. We are so lost at the game of basketball.
