  1. It's funny how some guy who's never even paid any attention to the Atlanta Hawks organization can say our players did not get along off the court. Shyt, Dog and JT were "Dogs for Life". I think if a guy can befriend someone like JR Rider (like JT did), he can get along with anyone. Truth is, this was a purely basketball decision. It's just funny how people outside of ATL are all of a sudden experts on our basketball team and players. Hilarious... J

    Would you...

Amen. Trading Reef for Odom would be eerily similar to the Smitty/Rider trade. Even if Odom was a church boy who had no strikes, I wouldnt do this deal. Reef is a much more valuable player, who you can build a team around. Odom is more complimentary. Besides, if we were to trade Reef for this guy, who would we go to at the end of the game? JT is a nice option, but I'd rather have Reef on any day... J
  3. DJ, Kenny Anderson, and either DG/SJ...it's a toss up J
  4. If you seriously think Dieb will be our GM, then you are hittin some strong stuff guy. On the real, like Lascar said, you cannot speculate these things just from a few newspaper reads. My hope is that McD will retain Knight as GM, and hire us a quality coach. I hope he'll look seriously into Carlisle and Fratello. Karl does not impress me at all. I think he has burned out like [censored] Vermiel did in the early 80's. Plus I do not like how he constantly criticizes his players. It's good to be on them and push them to do well, but Karl's ways will not be a good for for guys like Reef and JT... J
  5. Yeah man had to pull out some humor. Somebody was gunna get shot around here. Maybe Diesel's angry about sharing the ball with AI. Who knows... J
  6. "Man, that is what we should do. Set up a place so we can see who the heck it is we are talking to." Play, If we do that, We'll probably find out that Diesel is indeed Glenn "Big Dog" Robinson... J
  7. PG is the hardest position to learn in the L. It even took Gary Payton a year or two to get everything down. I do believe that BD will become our main ball-handler, but to say that he'll be a PG, starting in fact, is a bit much. I like the idea of playing him at SF in a Pippen-like role. We can match him up defensively against the 2 guards in the East and yield great results. On the offensive end, he allows JT (hopefully) and Reef to do their thing. I think playing him "out of position" at the 3 is the best thing to do for this season, and his career... J
  8. I feel ya on that Playmaker, I was just jokin around. [censored] we need somethin to talk about. McD, AOL, and the NBA are sitting on their hands. As long as nobody pulls out a piece in this "argument" I'm cool... J
  9. Well no I haven't had the pleasure, but an athlete, entertainer, or whatever has to have some restraint. I can understand that we can be unfaithful, we're all human, but that doesn't merit gettin with every woman that throws herself at you. And some pro athletes have proven that they can control their tempations. AC Green is a prime example. I don't believe that all NBA, NFL, and baseball..whatever players should be selibate, but control your [censored] man. We all have responsibility to ourselves, fans, and most importantly family... K
  10. This has to be the longest thread in Hawksquawk history (or at least since i've been here). And to be honest, I have no idea what the subject matter is anymore. LOL. Just call it a truce fellas... J
  11. Kinda off topic, but I saw ESPN's OTL Nightly the other night. They were talking about Kobe's troubles and the things NBA wives go thru. They had Kenny's ex-wife on there. [censored] she's fine as [censored]! Don't know what went wrong in the marriage, but I know if I were married to a beautiful woman like that I'd treat her well. OK back to basketball... J
  12. "I don't think it is humanly possibly to make as bad of a decision as Babcock did with Crawford." I'm telling you, they put too much stock into one playoff game. Just because he went off in a blowout against the Knicks doesn't merit a 7 year contract. I would've given him a 2 or 3 year deal MAX... J
  13. "If we're going to have DD on our roster for the next two years min., and we are, then we might as well try and play him, not hinder him, and see what he can do." If anything we need to showcase DD. If he's not in Knight's (or whoever is the GM's) future plans, then we need to at least get him more clock and showcase his talents like Phoenix did with Nash back in '98. Personally, I'd like to keep DD long term, but i don't see how he and a re-signed JT would work as a starting backcourt. Teams would eat us up, especially on the defensive end. If he has a solid start to the season, I would entertain trading him for some frontcourt help. Like I said, I'd love to keep Dickau, but I just cannot see him and JT as our backcourt; assuming DD develops into starter material... J
  14. That lineup is fine. I believe we need a shooter tho. Why not JB, Jon Barry... J
  15. Jackson's a streaky talent, but worth a "risk" at the right price. We have to have a coach that will control him when his game gets outta hand. Someone like a Fratello or Carlisle will be good in developing SJ. They'll let him do his thing, but also will sit his ass down when he starts to think he's MJ out there... J
  16. It was reported on Sportscenter that those pics that everybody has seen on the internet are of another young lady; no Kobe's accuser. They also stated that she was seen around town and was at the movies Friday nite. This thing is getting uglier and uglier... J
  17. You need to lighten up guy. If this pick turns into an early first rounder and a great ballplayer, will you complain then? Getting the cap space and improving team chemistry was great, but to get a future first rounder to build upon is even greater... J
  18. Yeah i agree.. I don't see anyone being traded from SA. No picks, anything. There has to be more... J

    Big Dog

There's a difference in a great shooter and a streak shooter who sometimes makes bad decisions. That's what GRob is--the ladder. Yeah he had his nights where it appeared that he was on fire, but he [censored] sure shot us out of a lot of games too. Not to mention his turnovers... J
  20. I agree that the franchise needs to rid itself of Babcocks bad decisions. He made some good trades in his tenure, but they were always followed up by [censored]-head moves. Let's take a look. Starting back in '92... 1992-Rumean Robinson for Mookie Blaylock -Good trade. Rumeal was a wasted pick, but we got 7 good seasons out of Mookie 1994-Dominique Wilkins for Danny Manning AND a 1st Rd. Pick -Cmon now. Terrible trade. Doesn't need any analyzing 1994-Kevin Willis for Steve Smith -Great trade. KWill was great here, but it was time for new blood. Smitty became our All-Star and go-to guy for 5 seasons 1994-Signing Kenny Norman -[censored], Petey boy was hittin some crazy weed back in '94 1996-Spud Webb and Andrew Lang for Christian Laettner -Some will say this was a terrible trade, but at the time it was great we went from a first round exit to a second round team that year. Adequate frontcourt help 1996-Signing Dikembe Mutombo -Great move. Allowed CL8 to move to PF and gave us a defensive presence, which saved our @$$ in the Detroit series that year 1999-Trading Mookie for #10 Draft pick -Good move. Mookie was declining and we essentially got JT, who is arguably our best player today. 1999-Trading Smitty for JR Rider and Jimmy Jackson -Terrible. Forget Rider's act, both guys were gone within a year. I think we could've traded Smitty for much better talent and quality individuals 2001-Trading Deke for Theo Ratliff, Toni Kukoc, and Nazr -Can't really comment on this one. Deke got Philly to the finals that year, but I believe they could've made it anyway. We really didn't get Theo's services until this season, which was pretty good. 2001-Trading #3 Pick, Lo Wright, Brevin Knight for Shareef -I'll say this was a good one. I think most people will disagree since that 3rd pick eventually became ROY, but at the time we needed instant help. I'm still a believer in Reef although most/some of you trash him here 2002-Trading Toni Kukoc, 2003 Pick, Leon Smith for GRob -Well that was probably one of the worst deals. It looked great at the time, but Petey did not take team chemistry into the equation. Neither did he think about GRob's contract. 2003-Petey boy leaves -Thats probably his greatest move. Now we have a competent GM (hopefully) in Knight who is already making smart decisions. J
  21. Kinda saw the handwriting on the wall there, but big ups to Ira. He's a prime example of a player who has EARNED his stay in the L. I hope he'll be a good mentor to his more heralded teammates in Cleveland who, unlike him, had instant stardom and notariety upon comin into the L. Big ups to Ira... J
  22. You cannot tell me with a straight face that playing without JT was more beneficial to team success than playing without GRob in 02-03. That's a load of crap that doesn't need anymore analyzing... J
  23. I wouldnt go as far as saying that the deal was a great one. [censored] I thought the Trade to GET Big Dawg was a great one, but I can fully understand why we made this deal. Flat out, the chemistry was not there with GRob. Look at the stats and the team record without him in the linup during the 02-03 season. I think if anything this trade will help us develop Diaw and Hansen better, along with allowing JT to re-sign, and other top FA's to sign here. I'm not gonna sit here and proclaim that next year at this time we'll be better off by making the deal, but i can understand it. I wish others here would too... J
  24. hawkster, Atlanta acquired his contract rights. It's very unlikely that TB will suit up in a Hawks uni... J
