  1. I would guess they would Draft stein before Anderson, when he is still on board on position 15 like in this Mock draft. For me the C position is the bigger need, and harder to fix through FA then the SF position. Cauley won't fix the C problem right away, but he can evolve in this position while Sap is still on board and Horford partly play C and PF. I didn't see anything from anderson yet, but what i read from him looks good and like a dude who have lots of potential, but needs time on court to use it. Not a bad pick, but maybe to longterm. But i think it is still pretty early for mock draft, we are not close to knowing when we gonna draft. Will we play the PO, or draft around position 12 or even win the lottery Are there players who stay longer at the college ... I think Mocks make more fun when you know more, and when you have a realistic chanche to project them
  2. usually thats a sign that someone is better then you, you look bad compared to him. But Teague isn't constant in general, on a good night he is great on a bad night he isnt ;) Imho he had also plenty of good games against good PG, and also a lot of bad games against average/below average starters.
  3. is it such a big deal in the US? In the german media, Anthonys 62 game was the bigger story of these too .. if i remember correctly, but it is enough to get noticed but i think this is deserved. Most record come against bad defense, and matchup nightmare i am quite sure that the defenders had a bad night too when nique set his own record ... But right now we have really really bad defence in the league, Westbrook quickest triple double since 60 years in the NBA shouldn't count, since it was against phily for example
  4. I also think there is to much criticsm on teague right now, he is one of the player who keeps the offense running he isn't good enough to do this against anybody but if he finds a way to hurt the opponent he would do it ... And right now we have few healthy players who can do it.He isn't an excellent Jump Shooter, but his game isn't that Jumpshot heavy for a guard and yes usually guards are good shooters but i think he isn't doing that bad. An example for a player like this doing well, might be Ellis at the Mavs he usually attacks the rim, is surrounded by bigs who can stretch the floor, is able to make a good pass and isn't a good defender ... But overall i think Ellis and Teague are pretty important for the succes of there franchise, Ellis a bit more then Teague when the rest is healthy.Teague is a bit to expensive, but there are worse contracts out there and this isn't his fault.
  5. Muscala makes more sense for me, Ivan isn't great he is solid something i hope Muscala can offer too. Muscala have still room to progress, and in the current situation it isn't bad to develope talent for the future so the time on court is spent well even when we miss the PO(maybe Ivan is a little bit stronger right now, but both ain't difference maker) Playing in china/korea isn't really a test for player with NBA ambition and in a such situation it is hard to work hard on training etc.(not sure about the training conditions over there to make it worse) Ivan advantage over Muscala for me is that he is cheaper(no buyout).
  6. the NBA games have 20% more playing time then FIBA games, also the offense is much more controled and therefore slower. I believe we are noting more rebounds as team effort, instead of putting it to a concrete player.Double figures in Rebounding are quite rare over here, and betwen 8-9 rebounds for the top performer are quite normal.
  7. As a german, we see a lot through the Dirk perspective and also the Dallas one ... Cuban stated in some interviews, that when he took over the franchise his Coach(i believe it was Nelson) ask him, if they should go for the top pick since the mavs was a "bad" team ... And Cuban replied, that they should go for as many wins as possible since winning mentality have to be build ... And as i see it, he always acted like that, and yes you can say that they drafted Nowe had Nash(i understood that they traded him, even when he came back even stronger after his injury) etc. But the championship was quite surprising, and many people though they already should be in rebuilding mode.
  8. Nice move, i believe he is at least as good as Pittman, an have lot more upside The stats he produced in spain, and easy to achieve the ACB is a quit strong league.(the NBA is way more talented and have soe different rules - but i think the ACB is the second best league in the world judging by talent if you don't count the euroleague as a league) And i believe playing an Talent, is the best you can do with all those injurys.
  9. I think the Body isn't everything, there are also skills who matters ;) I think it is unfair to say that he haven't got a shot in the NBA, he had three season to prove his coach to get more playing time but doesn't get - so i would say it wasn't enough for a big role. But he stayed in the league for 3 years, so he wasn't a total disappointment and properly a good option for the end of the bench and not a locker room cancer. But i am a bit surprised, he wasn't really a force in D-League so without watching many games i am surprised that he didn't take Justin Hamilton. On the german perspective, i could have named also Tim Ohlbrecht who have a solid cshot and i believe thats something coach Bud likes.
  10. So 10 years ago, going for Josh Childress was the move for beeing a contender? And a 6th pick isn't really bad, and when i look at the top 10 pick there all those team was bad to medicore the following years. But beeing a Clippers or Bobcats fan, was for sure more entertaining, or not? And also the Magic wasn't that much stronger then the Hawks, and they clearly got the best player there. I am not convinced that the 76ers get a powerhouse the next years, even when they tanked for two seasons.
  11. @kg01: Do you think we will drop down a lot in the ranking without changing the rotation? I mean if we miss the PO, while competing there are max 2-3 selecting betwen us and the last east team in the east ... If we ain't had a lot of luck in the lottery.
  12. yes but it isn't etablishing a loosing culture, too. And this comes if you don't try to win as hard as possible, and this might even come with the coach rating developing over winning when he distributes the minutes. I think you always need a healthy mix with it, but missing the PO here means getting as high as possible in the lottery right? So if this get the plan, and the minutes get shifted the player get the feeling that they don't have to win, and that loosing games isn't bad. The good players, get also frustrated since they want to play more and don't see the reason why they are sitting on the bench etc. Which means loosing assets, or overpaying players. Even when you can take Cleveland as a positiv example when they drafted LBJ, they couldn't build a team around him and he left as soon as possible ... And when you look at the next years from cleveland, you see that even with good picks you rarely get player who can win Championships alone. There are as many 8 seed team, who got slowly better with the right moves then teams who suck and get a contender. If it comes with injuries, like the spurs i think the succes rate is better, but i don't hope that anybody get injured.
  13. awful result in this poll, i can not understand that you don't want to have succes for your team and prefer cheering for loosing.
  14. My answer is no, if you look at quality player after ferry selection i only see Hardaway who he overlooked. But when you look at the roster, the hawks had: - Korver(might be also an option as 3 but i like him as guard a bit more) - Lou Williams(who was injured, but expected to be back early in the season) - Jenkins(who was healthy) - Cunningham Hardaway eveloped pretty well in NY, but i am sure he need playing time for it ... Something i also think, wouldn't be bad for Jenkins who also have talent and is a quite comparable type of player. Lou season isn't good, but if he was the old Lou i believe he would be before those two talents in the rotation. So the roster lacked players at: - C(was there even a C?) - SF(which only get partly solved by a SG, with Korver playing more 3) - PG(if they didn't expected Macks improvements) Also we should say, that players who are good enough for a PO team(even in the east) right away, was very rare(just Hardaway?). So Ferry selected players who have good chanches, to get quality player when quality wasn't avaible ;) With an C which was really needed, and who i think didn't blocked the spot for Jefferson or any other FA Center. But centers are rare and would be an good asset even in the future. And a PG who avoids that Lou had to play on SG, which is imho better then letting Lou playing lot of minutes as PG so that the other 3 SG get there playing time(and also should have give Korver more minutes at the 3, like a new SG). You could argue that he should look for Bullock, who looks promising for me ... But lets see, how dennis and Bullock plays, in one year to judge the decision cause Bullocks quality isn't so high that you couldn't replace him with an (cheaper) FA. So it comes down to the developed of the players, if it is a good or bad pick. Also it depend of the developed of the player behind Dennis and Nogueira, to see if there was better one avaibles when Ferry drafted ... Especially on a position, with needs. 15. serious, he plays so bad because Kyrie gets to the ASG instead of him? He had slumps before, one reason why Irving have better stats overall ... But yes you can discuss about Irving as a participant of the ASG, but i think he get the bonus because he is a STAR since HS ... Teague need to work for the status and not only 10 games a season, this works over consistency. How you explain his abd games before? I like teague, but he isn't a top 10 PG in the league but i also think he still can develop.
  16. I didn't like tanking, very few team find there succes this way ... I prefer slightly improvement at a roster to work up, the succes is quite comparable but you don't suck during the time you try it. For this season it is also to late, you need a top 5 pick that it makes sense even with this strong class.
  17. I doubt we could land Melo, but if we somehow get the chanche for it Ferry should take it. I am also not totally convinced in him beeing the top 5 player, he is consider from much of the expert but a max contract on him isn't wasted. If he plays is hero ball, the hawks perspective wouldn't change they would be still a sure PO pick in the east but not a contender ... But Atlanta is missing a bit sex appeal in FA aquisiation, i believe Melo would change it which makes it easier to keep Horf or get other good players through FA. If he can be pressed in a system, as a number 1 option you get a rolling offense with the arguably second best scorer in the league, the best 3pt shooter(don't Trade Korver) with dangerous teammate. And i think the Hawks won't be the worst D with him too, i think with him ATL could be the number 3 team in the east if Lebron leaves Miami even number 2 behind the Pacers ... Staying at the pacers, Lance Stephenson would be my favorite FA on the list. he is young and is developing really really good. I could imagine the pacers, have trouble to pay him the salary he deserves so he might be something like the Harden signing from Houston. And even when he doesn't work out, in the ATL system i believe the Pacers get weaker and we have a solid trade chip.
  18. Maybe the Hawks could need some help at SF, Bullock isn't bad but also there i don't see talent which helps now. So getting talent who might develop in future, was still the right move for me. If the draft was stronger, you might complain about bad picks but right now i don't see big mistake, in 1-2 years you might say it wasn't a good draft or that they take the best players avaible ;)
  19. If this was an F draft, how you would call drafting: - Shabazz Muhammed at 14 - Otto Porter @ 3 - Bennet @ 1 Are those H to X drafts To the other thesis, that a team that isn't in rebuild mode should rate quality above potential ... Thats a thesis i agree with, but for the Hawks in special and in general with this draft i think it is wrong. Yes the Hawks was a Preseason PO team, there moves didn't target tanking BUT there wasn't a small gap in quality for the top spot in the east: - Miami: I think we all know they was, are and will be strong ... - Pacers: Also the pacers showed lot more talent and otential above the Hawks roster, last season and it isn't a surrise that they are a title contender right now. - Nets: They collected lot of star power and lot of exerience, with huge paychecks and a rookie coach. They don't perform well, but i believe a lot of people expected then to be really strong. - Knicks: They have the talent, but usually trouble to translate there talent to sucess ... This season isn't an exception, but i think they are the only team from the rest who could compete with the other 3 teams talent wise. So the hawks was in a position to reach the PO, and with luck the second round ... if you look at the succes this season, i believe they are on a good way to even get the hca in the first round. But this have a lot to do, with an weak east. To reach the talent of the Pacers and Miami and beeing a contender i believe they had to pick Michael Jordan Also i don't see the NBA ready draft picks this year, who are drafted behind Schro and Nogueira with the excetion of Hardaway ... But is Hardaway an big upgrade above a healthy JJ? Did the hawks exect the developement of Mack, so that there was no need of a second PG so that you can go for a third or fourth SG(behind Korver, Lou and maybe JJ with cunningham waiting)? I think during the draft there was a need for a PG and a C, alternatives as the PG spot was Larkin and maybe Wolters. as a C you got alternatives in Withey and Gobert. Larkin: I think Larkin would have been a better player from the start then Schröder but also one with less Potential. Would be the slight boost at the Backup spot worth the loss of the potential? I think this is a close one. Wolters: i think less potential equal quality, a solid to good pick in the second round but no real alternative. Gobert: I think also like Nogueira he has a lot of potential, but wouldn't help the hawks right now. Personally i like the big fellow a bit more, but both are players for the future and even when i like the old school c the trend goes clearly to smaller more skilled one like Nogueira Whithey: He can play a bit, but isn't a big help either. Depending what players are avaible, are that really bad choiches? Sure you can say, that they didn't drafted dudes like Parker in the past draft but i don't think they was avaible too.
  20. i always thought he got better in shot selection, since he took a step back and took a 3pt instead of a long 2pt shot
  21. the hawks ain't in the commercial, the knicks won't be in the highlights
  22. I didn't heard complains about him doing it, or see something who make suspicious that he did it in germany. The BBL have cameras, but isn't close to the nba in that regards. But the most important thing is, when i see this scene he don't look at cousins he turns around to avoid the moving screen and try to get back to his men all the time. He doesn't even looks at Cousins, hard to aim on a moving target then ... And his motion don't look like a "punch", even when he hits him. For me a suspension is pretty hard, especially comparing to cousins push who is probadly less painfull* but with full intent(and he tried to beat horf while running before that, with an unnatural arm movement) * yu nearly react all the time like cousins when something comes close to your groin(which makes it unlikely that the 100 times he did it here in germany didn't get observed @guessinng expert DJ), like demonstrated here: But also small contact hurts.
  23. i believe cousins problem is that the kings have him as first option and team leader, i could imagine him much better as second option(or third if you can manage it anyhow with the salarys). He is not a dude for a max contract, but if the hawks can etablich an frontcourt with him and horford i am pretty sure he would be a good addition to the team.
  24. The last minutes on the court from teague maybe was to much also Wouldn't put his decline only on his break he got, i believe sac founds some things to adjust against him or he lost facus a bit. If you play him to much, he will decline even worse over a game. Talking about schröder, german news mag says he "punches" cousins in the ball, while running in a pick of him and that this scene might lead to consequences after the game. But i didn't found a video source from it, our other sources in general. Any infos about this?
