  1. I know there used to be a trade specific board but didn't see it anymore on a mobile browser. Admin please move if this should be there. I saw several sites talking about Westbroom and the Hawks as a good fit and possible trade partners. Usually involved Dennis and some 1st round picks. Has anyone else seen anything more than pure speculation on this and what do other folks think about the possibility. Would he resign here and if so what would you be willing to give up for him. Also would his ball dominant style work with our coaches philosophy and approach to the game. A top 5 player (arguably) would be huge but I'm curious if we could keep him and how much it would cost us and if the price would be too high to risk. what do other folks think?
  2. I'm know I'm late to post but would love to participate
  3. No responses expected but just wanted to encourage other user to support the great folks that maintain up update this site. I was a long time lurker and recently active poster. Dolefan and the others that provide this incredible site for Hawks fan deserve some support. I just signed up as a supporter and encourage everyone else that enjoys and uses this site to do the same. Again no responses expected but just wanted to express my thanks for the people that make Hawksquawk possible it's a great site and really wonderful for Hawks fans outside the ATL like me to interact with other fans. You have my thanks and I will be a long time financial supporter of all the hard work you do for us!!!!!
  4. I agree totally he is not a long term option but just the best option early next year until a rookie or TH2 emerge. He can still defend at a good level as well. If he is starting after the all star break I agree we may have big trouble at the 3
  5. I'm in full agreement Kyle's days as a starter are in the rear view. At his age starter minute have him to worn down to be a factor in the playoffs. I think he would embrace and fully accept the 6th man role though. With limited minutes he keeps his legs fresh. A second team of Jack and Kyle or Jack Delaney Korver or Delaney Korver gives us amazing shooting for our second team. Hump and splitter can both rebound and splitter is a great passer so Kyle could get plenty of clean passes for catch and shot. If Delaney can get his own shot against 2nd team NBA defense then Kyle becomes that much harde to focus defense on if the PG can create his own shot and be a three ball threat. I could easily see Kyle being talked about for sixth man of the year with the quality of our second team and fresh legs late in the season. he will also be a great mentor to our young shooters on form and how to be a sniper in the NBA. His experience and defensive calls would also be huge to our second team on defense. His off the ball movement will also be even more apparent if teams top wing defender is off the floor when he is out there or make them exhausted in the fourth if they chase him and Baze - TH2 all game.
  6. It's probably WAY to early say with any confidence but I agree with earlier posts that in the end it will be Prince. I think Thabo starts at the beginning of the season but I hope either one of them emerges and takes the starting three spot during the season.
  7. Wish I knew more all I know now is I'm praying for him and his family. Hawk or not I hope the good Lord takes them in his care and gives them the help they need. (Sorry if the post was to religious ).
  8. I think you start the season with Dennis at 1, Baze at 2, Thabo at 3, Sap at 4, and D8 in the middle. If a rookie really emerges Thabo goes to the bench or if TH2 blows up in year two maybe roll Baze down to the three. we have so many options if things work out we will be deep flexible and hard as hell to defend with an elite defensive team.
  9. I did the same, no jersey, but got a golf polo with the volt green and black. I will wait to see if Dwight's or Dennis's play forces my VISA out of my wallet for his jersey. Really hope they both earn my cash though!!!
  10. Horford got a lot of open shots at the top of the key because he rarely rolled hard to the hoop but waited for the ball and was often given that shot so the dribble penetration could get help. I'm Pssshhhrr87 we won't know till we see them together but it's way to early to say they won't work based on how they played in different system with different roles.
  11. I read and didn't agree at all I think Dennis will thrive with his dribble penetration if Dwight rolls hard to the basket and forces the defense to defend both sides of the lane. Dennis can throw it up to Dwight, attack the rim, or kick to a shooter. Sap will stretch the defense out with his range and Baze moves without the ball and can attack the rim as well. I think we will be a nightmare to defend next year.
  12. I completely agree with what you said. Dennis's role with the second team and as a sub with the 1st team was to bring offense and aggressiveness. He was the number one option for a scorer with the second team. I think his play style as the starter will be very different and we will see more initiating the offense and less "instant offense" type play. I think his dribble penetration ability will make the pick and role with a player like Dwight that can go hard to the rim will be deadly. Horford hung out at the top of the key looking for a kick and pop jumper (which he had the skill to do) but Dwight will aggressively move to the basket so the defense can't collapse on dribble penetration with out leaving his lane access open. i think we will see several monster high light dunks and kick out three's next year with this combo. Baze's athletism and ability to attack the rim and Saps ability to stretch the D will only make this even harder to defend. Lets all wait and see what Bud asks asked Dennis to do next year and see how his play changes. Korver and Delaney could also be a nightmare from deep next year if the defense packs the lane to stop dribble penetration and Dwight rolling hard to the basket. Jack has experience playing this role so he will be a good mentor and coach from the bench for Dennis as well. i never played anywhere close to NBA level ball but I know when I didn't worry about the starter coming right back in made me play under more control and more confident so I hope Dennis does the same. we have a lot of questions but I'm super excited to start the season and see what Bud does with this new skill set our team has now. Pop's system always thrived with a traditional center and pg that can drive so I think Bud will know how to use his players strengths.
  13. I agree I don't want a prima Dona attitude but I want a guy with confidence. If he works hard and shots and plays anywhere close to the way he did in Euro league I still love this signing. We are going to be more aggressive this year without Teague and Horford being passive at times so an aggressive attitude may be a great fit. You can never have too many 3 point shooters in today's NBA and having a shooter like Kyle mentor him can only be a good thing. The guy seems to have great court vision and can get his own shot too. Defending NBA players is always a HUGE question mark but our team defense and strong back court and help defense should be an asset to him. The Jack signing is great insurance and another vet to help him adjust to NBA play and teach him some cagey vet moves.
  14. This was exactly the kind of pick up I wanted a seasoned vet pg to mentor our young PG in practice and be a coach from the bench and give us some quality minutes as he works back into shape. I think he will be great for Dennis and Delaney (who has a lot of pro experience if not NBA experience. Cheap signing for a player who could make a real impact.
  15. I have talked about this in a couple posts. TH2 showed some flashes last season and I am excited to see him this year. Bud's system is complicated and I think young players have to think about what to do in year one. I year two they understand the system and react and play inside it without thinking so they play faster and with more confidence. The wings have the most to "do" in the system and move the most without the ball so comparison to PF's may be a little apples to oranges. I think TH2 will be a weapon of the bench this year and will be a player non of the pundits are accounting for this season. I hope he breaks out and improves like Baze and DMC this year and is in the discussion for 6th man and plays the role Dennis did last year bringing energy and offense to the 2nd unit.
  16. I try to be an optimist and i really do have high hopes for this year. of course Howard could be a sulking prima Dona and locker room cancer that won't play in the system. Hardway could be a mason and lay bricks all year. Dennis could play continually out of control and be a turn over machine. Both draft picks could be busts. Baze could get hurt in week 1 with a torn ACL. Korver could be just washed up and chuck threes at 20%, Sap could sulk about being traded and just go for numbers, and Tiago could be hurt all year again too. But I have faith that won't happen!
  17. I think a potential factor that a lot of people are not discussing is Tim Hardway Jr. Both Demarre and Baze made huge improvements in their second year in Buds system. If history repeats itself he could be a big weapon of the bench this year. I know it's summer league and only one game but Bembry looked great last night and he could be our starting 3 with great length by the playoffs. Prince may be ready to contribute by then too. I think SF may be more of a strength for us next year than some people do. Thabo is also a great defender with Sap and Howard they will be tough. i think Dennis will play a bit different next year too. His role this past year was to bring energy and offense to the second unit. As the starter he may play a more traditional point guard role. His numbers were close to Teagues last year and he is 22 he will continue to improve. Howard seems motivated and buying in and I think his offensive game will improve dramatically not playing with ball hog Kobe and super ball hog Harden. You got to feed the big men to keep them motivated and active he will get touches and I see some Sportcenter highlight passes for monster jams in his future. a true veteran point is all I think we need. Delaney looks like a great fit but we need some experience at the position to mentor the young players. splitter is a great passing big and a solid reserve so I'm not keen on trading him. i am fine with dumping Mike "Rolls" Scott and retaining Hump he brings more interior toughness and rebounding. Scott hangs outside to much. Finally withoit Al and Teague as leaders this team is gonna be a lot feistier and intense and I'm looking forward to the toughness and aggression. i can't wait for opening day because I think the Hawks are gonna shock some people and shut the mouths of a bunch of press "experts"
  18. I'm sure you could find a couple more reasons lol
  19. I think we would have to over pay to even have a small chance at Wade. He is looking for big contract and we wouldn't get a championship contender discount. Not sure he puts us past Cleveland and with our luck he would blow out his crusty knees in training camp
  20. I remember him lighting up my Noles in a game. Watching highlights he can flat out shoot the 3 and you can't have enough of that in today's NBA
  21. I can see that my hatred did burn a little less intensely when he , rondo, and KG left...
  22. I wonder what tune he is signing now? i also have to say I thought this thread would have more activity. I guess my hated of the Celtics is a lot bigger than most Squawkers!
  23. I wanted to keep Sap over him so no I wouldn't want to see that happen. Plus after the D12 being a reason for leaving i think it could cause instant locker room problems.
  24. I have said several times that the "Great" Boston fans and their media are gonna be calling out Al for every 3 rebound game. If he chokes as bad for them in the playoffs he will not enjoy the reaction!
  25. I think he got his ego bruised when he didn't get a max offer on the first offer sheet. He was dying to join the "max" player club and pitched a hissy fit when the Hawks didn't concur so when the Celtics stroked his ego he left millions and an extra year of security on the table.
