I’d take Green over Wiggins too but Green is not someone you tank for. Jackson isn’t tank worthy either which is why I’d be slightly underwhelmed if we ended up with him. He’d be the defensive anchor for the future but the Hawks would still lack scoring options that are conducive to a winning team.
Bagley isn’t the defender Jackson is but he’s shown more offensive consistency. That’s not to say Jackson is offensively challenged. This article does a great job in illustrating his potential on offense.

Don’t know if this was posted but here is a Schlenk quote from a recent interview.
Despite the win last night, it continues to look like Schlenk hit on both picks in the last draft. Even if Dorsey ends up being nothing but a bench player, finding a NBA player in the second round is nothing to scoff at. Hopefully this is a sign of things to come.
If the Hawks do make some trades, I’m not expecting any picks higher than second round picks. With so many teams facing the luxury tax, teams don’t have a lot of avenues to add talent. Having players on cheap contracts have become even more valuable than before.
Dallas, Orlando, ATL, and Sacramento all have 17 wins. Phoenix, Memphis, and Chicago have 18.
And with the 6th pick in the 2018 draft, the Atlanta Hawks select........
It’s pretty obvious Jackson is going to be the kind of defensive anchor you want on a championship team. It’s just hard to tell if he can be a legit scoring option like Green is for GS or even Serge Ibaka when he was in his prime on the Thunder. He can hit 3s and has shown a few flashes of being able to drive with the ball in his hands which is good.
I’m not worried about the Knicks. Just pointing out another team that can call it quits halfway through the season. I’m much more concerned about how many teams are a game or two back from the Hawks.
I expect New York to also join in on the tank race.
The Hawks need to start trading guys. They can’t afford to mess up the rebuild this early in the process.
Considering Trae can lead an offense while being a scoring threat, you’d think he’d be up for consideration by the Hawks. Nobody outside of Doncic And Trae have the potential to be major threats on the wing in this draft class. Those guys are valuable. Especially in today’s NBA with perimeter scoring being so important. I’m not taking him over Doncic or Ayton but outside of those two, he’d be the pick if it were up to me.
It’s the nature of team building. No team has a 100% hit rate. Teams are going to be wrong about some things and right about others. Some players will develop while others won’t. That’s why teams want as many assets as possible when going through a rebuild. More assets give organizations better odds.
Philly still has a ton of assets and resources while having a promising core of players. That to me is praise worthy.
Orlando is already shopping Fournier. That’s a tank move.
Several teams in general are going to throw in the towel after the trade deadline. The NBA has a bunch of teams who are either bad or borderline terrible. Given that this is the last year tanking is viable, some organizations will take advantage. You also have to keep an eye on teams like Chicago or even the Knicks who might feel they are another piece away from having a great core of players to build around.
