  1. Reddish is easily the best fit right now out of the Duke players. They need a wing that can shoot/score and defend and he fits the bill.

    2019 Draft

KB is right about this team’s need of a wing that can play defense. That to me is the biggest need. I’m hoping some of the other wings like Little, Keldon Johnson, and Hunter show more of an offensive game because the Hawks probably won’t pick high enough for Reddish. He’d be perfect assuming he doesn’t have any red flags regarding his attitude.
  3. Eh, I’m not tripping over the loses this year. This is a rebuilding team and we clearly don’t have the personnel to be consistent on both sides of the ball.
  4. I’m just glad the Mavs are too good to be picking in the top 5. I predict Cleveland will be in tank mode after the deadline. They look terrible.

Lurker is right about rookie point guards usually sucking. Even the good ones did in the past. I do think Trae is showing the signs you want out of a player with his ability. In today’s NBA, playmaking point guards are incredibly valuable and rare.
  6. It’s so refreshing to have a dynamic offense player on the Hawks. Trae is a great passer too. Man I’m thrilled.
  7. I know it’s early but it really looks like the Hawks hit on Young. He’s going to have some ugly games but he’s great when he’s on.
  8. It’s obvious the SG position will be the first position this team looks at in the draft. Bazemore is not getting it done. His trade value is in the dumps right now.
  9. It really feels like the scouts jumped the gun with the complaining they were doing about this upcoming draft class. Barrett and Zion are rediculous prospects and the other players in the class haven’t fully made their mark yet. I don’t think the draft will be stacked but people were saying it was going to be historically weak. At the very worst, this draft will be looked at similarly to the Ben Simmons/Ingram draft where it was billed as a two person draft going in.
  10. Schröder has very little trade value and the Hawks still managed to get some value for him. Schlenk did good here.

“Winning culture” Winning culture really means having having high upside talent that can make a team a playoff team for the foreseeable future. Philly now has a winning culture after being horrendous going all the way back to 2013. The Warriors didn’t get a winning culture until Curry, Thompson, and Green showed they can carry a team together. If a strong winning culture was tied to ownership and coaching, the Mavericks would still have one despite not making the playoffs the past two seasons.
  12. The Dallas pick will probably convey. Don’t see the Cavs pick doing the same. That roster sucks.
  13. The protections definitely should’ve been top 3. I agree with you there.
  14. Dallas supposedly is trying be more competitive next season. They have capspace while having a draft that will stabalize their ball-handling. I can easily see that pick in the 7-14 range.
  15. Yeah, Dallas won’t be top 5 bad. That pick will probably convey to Atlanta unless things get screwy with the new lottery system.
  16. The second round is going to have some good players. Guys like Wagner, Simons, and Shamet going early might be the cause of it.
  17. Boston got a lotto pick at 27. Figures.
  18. Getting Thomas or Melton would be a look for Atlanta.
  19. This is an incredibly odd draft. The Hawks picks aren’t terrible. Objectively, no one can say that. The decision to build a bootleg version of the Warriors however probably is. The odds of a championship being won this way is slim. Maybe a pivot happens later on in the rebuild. I don’t know.
  20. Young is an elite passer and he can shoot. I understand worrying about the trade but Young was going top 6 regardless.
