  1. It wouldn't be just giving up the Nets pick, but also losing a potential top 3 pick for a potential late lottery pick due to having a better record. If Drummond opts out to enter a weak 2020 free agent class then we push the rebuild back another season. I'd rather stay with what we have, get the high pick, and check in on Drummond in the offseason or trade the Nets pick on draft day for a position of need after we see what we get with our top pick.
  2. The NBA would probably undercut Ball before he could get a league started. Either lower the draft age to 18 or possibly allow them to play in the NBADL. These guys that would be playing in Ball's league would be risking losing too much from potential injury.
  3. I like him as a sf or small ball pf. I feel like he could be coached into a Boris Diaw type of high energy stat stuffer off the bench that isn't great at any one thing, with better scoring ability... not the Atlanta Hawks Boris Diaw.
  4. My prediction... NO and Phoenix are the other 2 teams and NO takes on Gordon because they need shooters. Phoenix takes on Anderson because that have cap space, could use a PF, and have young talent or picks to send to NY. With Gordon and Anderson gone Houston can take on Carmelo and his trade kicker.
  5. I liked him coming out of UCLA, but I thought he was raw and needed someone to reign him in and give him structure. Bud and his staff might be the people to do that.
  6. Minimum 5 years... after the 2019/2020 season we will only have Schröder, Bembry, Prince, and Collins under contract. I bet we don't sign any free agents that will be on the roster after that season. We have 6 1st round draft picks over the next 3 years that we will either use or package to move up plus 2nd round picks. The Hawks will hope that they have at least 3 starters and some bench players from those picks and our current young guys, then sign a couple good free agents to round the team out. It will take a season to play together and figure out if we need another piece or 2. 5 years to field a playoff team. Plus that allows the current stud teams to get past their prime. I'd also be surprised if Dennis is still on the team. If we won't compete for another 5 years we might as well trade him.
  7. I was thinking about this earlier today when I was trying to figure out what the Hawks are going to do with their cap space. I don't think Houston has enough picks and young talent to make this happen. The Knicks will want a couple picks or a pick and young player for Carmelo, and we'll want a pick or young player for taking on salary. We already have Houston's 2018 1st, so their 2020 pick is the next up for grabs. We might not mind getting the 2020 pick since we are on the 8 year plan, but that leaves nothing for the Knicks. Houston gave up too much in the Chris Paul trade.
  8. There have been a few people that think we could help facilitate a Carmelo trade. Maybe we send Hardaway and picks to NY, they send Carmelo to Cleveland, and we're clearing room for Love. Not saying I think this should or will happen. I'm not even sure you can SnT a restricted Free Agent. Just trying to figure out what the Hawks are up to.
  9. If I'm Millsap's agent, I'm telling him to wait on Hayward to decide where he's going. If Hayward goes back to Utah then it could open up Boston and Miami to go after Millsap.
  10. I don't like that this has leaked while he's still on waivers. Someone below us in the standings will pick him up to block us from getting him.
  11. I think it gets us a trade exception for his tiny contract that might cover a vet salary* *I don't claim to be a cap expert, but I like to think I know what I'm saying is legit.
  12. I think this was just a move to open up a roster spot to sign Neal. Cenk isn't signed to a contract, so he isn't on the roster.
  13. Hahahaha, I saw this and laughed my ass off. Everyone will realize how overrated he is. He's an average player with slightly above average leadership skills. He's not taking the Celtics to the finals.
  14. It's going to take until the 1st of the year for our new starting lineup and rotation to hit their stride. Luckily we have an easy early winnable schedule while they figure things out. Schröder wasn't good tonight (2 assists, 4 to's), so I put it on him that Howard didn't get enough touches. It will work itself out in time. I also doubt that Howard imagines averaging 20/15 for the season. If he gets 15/12 he's an all star and performing better than Horford did for us. Plus 7 offensive rebounds! He could get himself enough touches.
  15. 52-30 3 seed EC Finals 950 mins #1 defense
  16. I think Edy will spend a lot of time with us. He'll learn more going up against Dwight in practice and watching him play from the bench than what he will learn playing against scrubs in the D-league.
  17. Every Atlanta team feels the same and has for a while. There's no fire, no passion, very little emotion. We'll see if Dennis has the head on his shoulders to be a really good point guard, but we know he will bring the fire. I'm looking forward to Howard taking ownership of the paint. Someone who will hopefully be swatting shots into the stands. The Hawks should have a ceremony where Mutombo passes on the finger wag to Howard.
  18. Obviously playing "what if"... With Houston losing losing Howard and Indiana losing Ian Mahinmi, both teams could use a healthy Splitter in their center rotation. The question is how healthy is he? Then I would send out either Muscala or Scott. That leaves us $20 for backups at C, PG, PF. I'd like to see Humphries back.
  19. So... what if we can sign and trade then have $20M in cap to spend. Who do we sign? What good small forwards are left?
  20. I like Horford as a person, but not as a player. He phoned it in after the injuries to make sure he got his payday. I'm happy with the change no matter how it turns out. I don't think his leaving had to do with not getting along with Dwight, but that his ego was going to take a hit. Al has been the team leader for a while and would have signed a huge contract. He would have to watch fans start showing up for home games because we brought home Dwight not because we resigned him. He would also have to see a guy getting paid less than him put up better stats. Then have everyone compare everything Dwight did during the season to what Al couldn't do as a center over the past few seasons. If we were successful in the playoffs the media and fans would give the credit to bringing in Dwight. Instead he put himself on a team where he can be the hero.
  21. Thanks @sturt! I have always been a Hawks fan, i'm 42. I've been lurking on the board for about 11 years. I moved to Seattle a few years ago and now this is the only way I get to talk Hawks basketball.
  22. Nice video, but he's going to need to work on his dribble. It's too high. He'll get his pocket picked a lot in the NBA.
  23. Looking at this as a "what if Horford leaves" scenario... We have enough space to sign a max big like Howard or Whiteside and since they will get the majority of minutes at center, flip Splitter for cap space plus what we gain from Horford's cap hold going away. We can sign a max or a bit lower 2G or SF and still have a solid team.
  24. I like that rumored 3 way trade with Hou and Mia if we can get Winslow. 2 things we are lacking is a rebounder and a SF. Howard will bring more rebounding than Horford and would be great on the pick and roll with Dennis. I would love to see Winslow with our coaching staff. I've liked what I've seen so far . He's a 5'7" 225lbs 19yo rookie and Kawhi Leonard is 5'7" 230lbs. Let's teach him to shoot and play defense in our system and who knows a couple years from now. Next season... Pg- Dennis, fa vet. Sg- bazemore, korver Sf- Winslow, Sefolosha Pf- Sap, Scott C- Howard, Splitter
