    RUMOR LAND

Diesel, Most of your requirements for trading involve Marvin and I would have to say that I don't see that as a possibility. No matter what the views of him are, I think he is a foundation in Atlanta like it or not. (I happen to like Marvin in our future) I don't see the man love for Shelden that most people do and if you tell me you want to resign Harrington and draft Williams, that seems counter productive to me. The smoke screens are enormous at this time! AI, may or may not be our answer, but any trade involving him probably won't include Marvin and I believe thats who the Sixers would want. Additionally, maybe it's me, but I think that Childress's game is similar in development to Diaw's. Would we trade him and see him become even more dangerous?
  3. WOW. Did you read the draftexpress draft article on the Hawks? They don't think Shelden is worth five either. I really don't want Shelden in a Hawks uni!
  4. That's the part that is crazy to me. To me, we're building a team that is geared towards young and running. How does Williams fit with that. Williams doesn't seem to have that ability to run with the horses (that's why I asked you Diesel). Aldridge fits with the profile of this team better if you ask me. (Johnson, Smoove, Marv, Aldridge, Chill - if around....)Now if you talk athleticism, there you have it.
  5. So what are advocatiing? Taking Shelden Williams and Keeping Al Harrington? Someone tell me the logic of all that Logjam? And whether we're moving to smaller ball or not, I don't like the interchanging of these pieces. We'd have to sign Harrington for more than he's letting on.....
  6. Diesel...can you tell me...are you advocating the selection of Shelden over all players? I mean if he's at five and it's our selection time, you want Shelden hands down? Not only can I not say that, but I think Shelden shouldn't be drafted before 8. If that's the case, we trade down and select him.
  7. Well, unlike some of the thinking here, I think Marvin was the right pick at #2 last year. Doesn't mean we should have stayed there with our pressing needs, we probably could have parlayed that into something we needed (Paul, Williams, et.al), but I think long term Marvin will make us happy. Now with regards to Shelden, I've come around on him a little bit. I don't want him at five because I think if Aldridge is there, he is what we need. Length and he can get up and down the floor which is what we need. I don't think Shelden is an up and down the floor player, but someone who likes him (Diesel) can tell me more about that. I just think it's either Roy, Foye or Aldridge. If we got Shelden at 5 I would not be happy!
  8. Rahmor, I certainly hope the draft winds up your way than adding Shelden at 5 (SHUDDER!)
  9. First Belkin....Now this? I agree with KB....I don't like Shelden at all especially at 5. Maybe at we trade down or not, but I'll have to get use to him if we pick him.
  10. My retort to Shelden is that the NUMBER 5 pick is waaay to high for him. If we traded down and got him, I'd be more apt to like the pick, but I really don't even want him at 8. I may be the only one who steadfastly can't stand the guy..I'm not using my hatred of Duke either. I just don't like what I've seen (small sample size). Great college stuff... If the scouts think he'd be advantageous to us and that he can rebound, block shots, clean up the mess down low....what could I say? I still think a O'Bryant (Long term?) if not Aldridge help this team more.
  11. I'm sorry to disagree EDS, but I don't think he's what the Hawks need at all. We already have 6'8" and 6'9" players with good upside at SF and an occasional spell at PF...but the biggest bang for our buck is not Shelden, it's a PG or a big. PERIOD. I understand he does grunt work, etc..etc, but I'm just not wanting the guy in a Hawks Uniform.
  12. Just say no to Shelden Williams. He is not what this teams needs at pick 5 or 12!
  13. Sheldon Williams..by a long shot. i simply don't think he's a good fit for this team, nor do I think he's what the Hawks need. He's not a center or a pg.
  14. That's good. I don't want Shelden Williams anyway!
  15. As a Shelden Williams detractor, I can see why he's not in the top 10. I'm one of the few who don't want to see him in an Atlanta Hawks uniform....especially above pick 10.
  16. I agree. Why is it that many here want to trade Marvin after one year in which he did show good skill sets. Oh I know...he didn't win Rookie of the Year. Who cares? Marvin is going to be the real deal and I don't think his season was bad considering that Harrington was there.
  17. I may be the only one on this board who doesn't want Sheldon Williams at 5. No way would I do that. I don't like any one necessarily that much above another player in this draft, but I'm not one of the people who is down on Aldridge....as a matter of fact if we got him I would dance a little dance. Is Sheldon a Lunchpail type of guy? Maybe that's why he doesn't appeal to me (although we have enough leapers). I've read a lot about him, saw a few Duke games and he just didn't move me. If we got him, will MW develop on the bench? Picture me on the Aldridge, Roy and Foye bandwagon.
  18. Well, in regards to Sheldon Williams, I may be in the minority, but I wouldn't want him unless we have two picks to play with. I'm an ACC fan and only watched him in a handful of games...he is good. Just not top 10 good (just my opinion). I'd rather draft Roy/Foye and deal Harrington for a big or sign a big to an offer sheet.
  19. I agree Buzzard...I'm not as upset about Marvin as others and think that he along with Smoove (and possibly Chill) will be a solid young core with JJ. We just have to do something at the point and Center. If I knew what plan was best...I'd be the GM. (But I would actually tell you guys what our direction is).
  20. That's just our luck. I don't think it's that bad that we didn't get number one. The more I read the more I'm torn between players who may not be stars, but will be a part of the unit as a whole. There is no consensus, so in essence this draft shouldn't be too hard to screw up. However.... (I think I like Aldridge, Roy and Foye in that order - At least for tonight)
  21. Would the Raptors actually be considering moving down to select Marcus Williams? Someone's smoking..... "The Toronto Raptors are sending out strong signals that they'd like to get UConn's point guard Marcus Williams, according to Mitch Lawrence of the New York Daily News." Couldn't they trade down to five and pick him there? I still don't know if I want him...I like Roy or Foye the most depending on which report I hear. I don't foresee a big man that we would reach for that high, but could we maybe trade with them if we're in love with Aldridge or Bargnani?
  22. I keep wondering where Marvin Williams has failed this franchise. I personally knew we were gambling on his greatness later and that growing pains were going to be evident throughout the year. I am not as upset as most that Paul had the year he did. That being said, another Hawks message board thinks highly of MW and don't include him in every trade scenario available. Why?.
  23. Here's hoping that Diaw becomes what was envisioned of him, but I wouldn't be so quick to discount the fact that for US, he didn't want to be aggressive. Do you honestly think he'll become that player with Phoenix? He has to defer more there, and his passing skills will shine, but I'm not worried about him becoming a scoring machine all of a sudden.
  24. You sir, are what we've needed for some time in Atlanta. Fresh air, and the offer is wonderful. Thank you so much.
  25. I've only been a Hawks fan for 30 years, but I can say that Belkin is the original village idiot. He tried to single-handedly hamstring this organization. Whether or not we need a SF (which Johnson is not) is not the question. Ask yourself about the ability to draw free agents and this is a no brainer. I have watched Johnson at Arkansas run the point at times. He is going to be fine. I just think Belkin's name is synonymous with AZZZZ!
