  1. Well if you going to add this to Billy's list you might want to consider the following. The big greek wasn't a rookie. He was older and probably has hit his peak. This being said that means someone had him before us. That would be Detriot. So if he pans out in Seattle, add him to Joe Dumars list too. He was sent packing our of Detriot when they could have just kept him in the NBDL and let him get better then possible sign him or trade him for a piece they need. Did they? Nope they cut him. So now your worrying about a 3pt avg in preseason stiff that was cut by a 2 time GM of the year. Clearly, in your mind Billy cant do anything right. You are worried about a NBDL journey man that most likely will never see the floor in Seattle if it wasnt for Swift's injury and Sene (yes walter that guy) being so horrible so far. How bout we look at him finding Zaza for a hill of beans who is 22 and is a hustling off. reboudning machine. Nope cant look at that signing, but we will focus on this Greek guy. Makes sense to me.
  2. Just 3 games ???? Are you new or something. So I guess teh 3 game winning shots he had last year dont count, uh. I guess beside being the only guy with 20 pts, 5 rebs, and 4 asst per game last year beside Lebron, Wade, and Kobe last year doesnt put him up there. Yep, I guess we should only look at these 3 games to decide if he is an elite player. Oh, and lets not factor in he made the 15 man roster for the USA Basketball team. I'm sorry if you are still in the camp that thinks we got hosed on the JJ trade. But to ? Joe as an elite player is absurd. Is he the greatest no. But even all the season previews that take every chance to hate on the Hawks had him in the top 15 players in the NBA.
  3. Here is the link, an email was sent to anyone who has bought tx before. you cant select what section but it is the lower level along the sides for $25. http://hta2.atlantaspirit.com/cts/click?q=...hDDcGgxcQ%3D%3D
  4. Love the video, btu my god how did they find all of that video and not the Yao dunk. I was at that game 2 years ago when Yao came to town. Chill came baseline and absolutly posterized him. I felt bad it was Asian-American appreciation night. It was right there with all of the Smoove dunks.
  5. Why isnt Priest "I should have been a Rabbi" Lauderdale not getting any love here. But my all time lest favorite is John "I lost my" Koncack. Why? Drafted 5th over all in 1985 she never really came to be and look at who was passed over: Chris Mullin Detlef Schrempf Charles Oakley Karl Malone Blair Rasmussen (who still ended up here, and should be on this list) Joe Dumars A.C. Green Terry Porter This draft did net us Sabyonis. Wait how did that work out for us, Damn't again. Jon Koncak compiled 11 comical season in the NBA, averaging 4.5 points and 4.9 rebounds for his career and topping 6 points per game just one of those seasons -- his ROOKIE season. Adding insult, Atlanta inked Koncak to an absurd 6-year/$13 million dollar contract after the 1989 season to keep him from signing with rival Detroit.

  7. Quote: Its not that we passed on Chris Paul. Its that we passed on a player who could really help us at a position we were absolutely desparate to fill (PG ). Instead we choose a player who would play a position that we already had filled with quality players (Chill, Smith and Al). That is why we are always getting crap. If we took Deron or Felton we wouldn't be hearing anything either. I think it will work out in the end and Marvin will become a very good sf, its just that our pick really didn't make sense. Until we start winning games and Marvin begins to show his worth we will always be that team who didn't pick Paul. So we will be none as the team that passed on him ?? What about Utah and taking Deron ahead of him. Portland trading down so not to take him. Yep BK was the only GM the missed the Chris Paul boat. (sarcasm) We all knew going into the season he was prob going to be ROY because he was the most experienced player taken. You dont draft for that one year. lets wait 4 years and then come back to the conversation.
  8. All along they knew something that no one else in the league seemed to understand -- no one was going to come close to giving the Hawks or Harrington a better deal. So for all those dreams of Bynum or any other trade. Even Chad Ford who wrote this in his last article, and loathes the Hawks, we got what we could for an UFA. I dont see the malfunction here. GSUTEKE this isn't NBA Live where you can fleece the comp. into trading Shaq and Dwade for Salim and 8 futrue picks. you have to have trade partners. Don't you think if given the chance Ford would love to rag BK for passing on this guy or that guy. Notice he didnt. He jumps at any chance to nail BK. He didnt even mention we took a worse deal. So clearly this was the most realistic deal. What if the Sekeo article and Breakfast with Bernie was tatics to try and push Indiana to sweeten the pot. There may have been no other deals at all.
  9. I meant Wallace I was just busy here at work adn trying to calm down after reading some of this.
  10. Everyone going off on this trade. The haters coming out of the wood work. I seem to remember this same thing happening 3 years ago. We had a vetern player that everyone wanted to trade for this guy and that guy. All we did was trade him for a 1st rd draft pick and an expiring contract. Everyone jumped all over Billy Knight. But next years draft is loaded and we needed to get back in it. For everyone that wanted to draft Marcus Williams this draft or anyone else in the 14-25 pick area. Wait until next April when all the hype is out about this years draft and everyone will be clamoring about potential, and happy we have a pick. Most people whinned about Al taking up playing time for the young guys. So why get back an older less effective version in Joe Smith. Lets let our young guns go out and get time and play. For all those that will say well we could have got Smith and a pick, do you know that? or is that more creativity? Oh side note how did that vetern in Walker for a pick turn out.................. oh yeh we got the face of our franchis for the next 8-10 years in Josh Smith.
  11. so you dont want any young players ever? we should just be set with this team and ride them till they retire and then rebuild from scratch. Clearly, you know a true team evolves you need the replacements there and learning. I have no problem drafting a star PG in 2008. that gives him 2 years to learn under speedy's new contract and can give him a breather when he needs it because lue will be long gone by then. whats wrong with accumulating talent. And to the above poster I am at work so by the time I got to finsih my post two more responses were entered.
  12. I really just laugh at everyone. I read all these post all the time and most everyone on here jumps to one conclusion or another. Then either praises BK or bashes him. To each their own opinion, but for a long time I assumed that nobody ever bothered to read what others wrote they just spewed their opinion. This takes the cake, to all the other replies go back and read the first 5 words of the original post. It was refering to the fact we get the 2008 pick from Indiana. Therefore they arent looking at us being bad and lottery bound, but Indiana. It could be much like the Chicago situation where they make the playoffs last year and still get the Knicks number 2 pick. Please read before posting next time.

    Al vs Shareef

Your sooo right they are almost the same AL is all of 25 and shoots over 45% from 3. Reef is on the other side of 30 and doesnt have range at all. How did we miss the comparison. I repeat what i wrote on another post. That was my point, its not the players is the franchise that Knight took over. When you have an orginazation drafting John Konkack over Karl Malone. Now nobody has a cyrstal ball, but we havent drafted an All-Star since Pistol Pete. (Nique came from Utah). So how do you expect to turn a franchise around over night. You can't blame AL for not getting a PG in the draft to get the ball to everyone that can finish. Smoove and Chill can finish they just cant create their own shot. So lets just trade the best player on the team, and not to mention a guy who has come out time and time again saying he wants to be here and build something for a rental like Artest or Francis. You know neither will stay when their contracts are up up. Yes AL will ask a lot this off season and he deserves it, but dont go offering him to any team for reasons out of his control. Everyone knocks his turnovers, well how many of those come when he gets the ball with 3 seconds left on the shot clock because we cant get in our offensive set. So he is forced to go into the double team and try and create or it will be a shot clock violation. How many turnovers because Chill and Smoove are young and stand there and dont cut, causing the defense to collapse and giving Al no outlet. Everyone points at the negative, but nobody points out he is one of the best SF in the game, is only 25, and wants to be here. Give him a PG and watch how he and JJ will take off.

  15. Blackhawk please try and base your post in some fact. Zaza is leading the league in rebounds and is in the top 20 for RPG. He was averging a double double for god sake for the first 3 months of the season. Oh wait and he is only 22. So he is still young. Your so right. As far as Joe Johnson, he has more PPG then any other free agent signed this off season. He and Al are both under 25. So we have a young team, that is starting to produce. We won 13 games last year, wtf did u expect this year a Central division championship. We are stumbling while learning to walk. What's even more amazing is if we can start winning some of these close games we are 6 games out of the playoff spot at abotu the half way point. Not saying I am thinking we will make it, but it could be entertaining down the stretch.
  16. Priest Lauderdale or Ed grey anyone, cmon we never gave them a chance to develop. Can anyone notice the irony that is currently going on with Al being just like JT. When he was here nobody wanted him. He was bashed on here like a red headed step child. We get rid of him and he plays well and then everyone wants him back. It will be the same way with Al everyone points the finger at the spokesman for the team, and finds an escape goat.
  17. For all those that love to talk about basketball, but don't pay attention. No Ivey and Gibson didnt play at the same time since Gibson is a soph. but Ivey never played the point. Ever hear of a guy named T.J. Ford. Ivery played the SG in college, and we drafted him trying to make him a PG.
  18. So we all heard it and jumped on here, and started threads.
  19. Just one 790 the judge didnt rule, so we can vote Belkin out. I assume he can appeal, but it might be after we get Joe.
  20. Last year Denver gave New Jersey 3 picks NOT PROTECTED for the right to sign Kenyon Martin, and Kenyon is a good PF, but not a superstar like Garnett or Duncan. You assert that Johnson isnt a super star either. Thats fine, but we are giving a player that has been a bust while he shows some skills a bust. Then two protected picks. Stack that up to precedent set in the league, and I would say we got a bargin. On top of that one of the picks is an extra pick of our two next year. We recieved this pick for Antione Walker. So lets put this in perspective. Basically, at the deadline would you have traded Antione a 3/4 which we are back logged at, Boris and one protected pick two years from now, for Joe a 1/2 that is a rising all-star. Ummm, yeh I think so. This point is for everyone that can't understand why we gave up Rasheed, achhum he turned in Smoove. But to the here and now, When all is factored in we are paying far less then Denver paid, and getting a need postion. But this argument is pointless since the only reason Belkin is doing this is to try and keep payroll down see link. http://www.ajc.com/hawks/content/sports/ha...05/09hawks.html In conclusion, one must realize that draft picks are not all they are cracked up to be. We have a young core of players all under 24 (Smoove, Chill, maybe Joe, Marvin, and Salim) You cant be the Clippers and keep gaining young talent its like a farm team in baseball you have to add veterns at some point. With this trade we still would have our pick for next year since the pick is Boston's. So we can still add one top tier talent since this will prob be a rebuilding year. So you are giving up one 1st rd pick. The following year, assuming we make the playoffs. If we make the playoffs we can probally attract more FA and can miss one draft. For all those that covert picks think about this the past 33 1st rd. selections we have had 0 all-stars. 0 Dominuqe was drafted by the Jazz and we traded. So you are worried bout missing one of those role players if we make the playoffs. Yeh I'll take it
  21. Damn I wish, but there was a glimmer of good news today. http://www.journaltimesonline.com/nucleus/...php?itemid=1629 The ball is in the Bucks' court. After Zaza Pachulia signed a four-year, $16 million offer sheet from the Atlanta Hawks late Tuesday night (and not the four-year, $4 million deal some Milwaukee print and broadcast outlets reported), the Bucks will now have less than seven days in which to decide whether to match it. The scuttlebutt around the lNBA is the Bucks will allow Pachulia to walk. Marc Fleisher, Pachulia's agent, told me more than a week ago playing time was a major concern for his client.
  22. Signing JJ is great and really helps get some more firepower on a team that needed some outside shooting and someone to set up the offense. For everyone saying he can't play the point, I think you are missing one key factor. Knight and Woodson have said all along they just want someone that cant brign the ball up and get hte offense set. They arent looking for a Nash or Kidd to get 10 assist a game. They are looking for maybe 20 and 6 from that spot and that exactly what JJ brings. Filling up the frontcourt is the next thing to be addressed. As much as everyone knocks Curry for his D and board work he is a monster on offense in the post. I propose we do what Chi. did and hide the weaknesses by playing him with a rebounding, defenseive minded PF. The solution is Reggie Evans. Quietly he avg. more rebs per minute then anyone in the NBA and plays with a passion. Put him and Curry in togther and they complement each other nicely. Harrington for Curry sign and trade. Hopefully Mil. wont match for ZaZa at this bargin 4yr 4mill deal and we will have our depth. I say with this team realisticly 35 wins or so but much better next year after a year under Woody's system. PG- JJ/T. Lue/Royal SG- Chill/Salim SF- Smoove/Marvin/Donta PF- Reggie Evans/Arthur Johnson C- Curry/ZaZa Three more roster spots to fill out the depth.
  23. Everyone calm down. All of this talk is coming from Chad Ford. It has been said in the past by other media members, he relys on all of his information from agents. Very few GM's actually speak to him. Does everyone remember last year when he was telling everyone that every free agent was being talked to by Atlanta. The Hawks never even made an offer to Dampier. The agents use Ford like a puppet. He goes out and writes this team is intrested, and the other team has to maybe offer more. This puts more money in the agents pocket. I dont know why ESPN got rid of David Aldridge. You ever notice he never came out with wild claims, and most everything he said was right. I suppose ESPN wanted to get more viewers so they stick with Ford who everyday has 15 diffrent trades. Everyone on this site is knocking Billy Knight when he hasnt done anything yet. Any true Hawks fan should know how close to the vest Knight is and doesnt give out any information, so why would he tell Ford what he is doing. Every thing Ford says we are doing is his opinion, he has no proof from the front office. Ill wait till its offical.
  24. I know the plan is for Salim to play the point for right now, and that is fine we have to gather as much talent, and put it on the floor. What if in the next few years though we get a FA or draft a top PG and we use Salim like Boston does Ricky Davis, a pure scorer. Davis would be the sixth man and when he got in the offense jsut ran trough him I like to think Salim getting hot and putting the team on his back while the starters rest. People think only in terms of 5 man teams. You notice the best teams have depth. Thats why Marvin is the perfect pick. If we trade Harrington or he leaves FA next year we need to accure the most talent possible. How many games were we leading last year or at least with in 10 at half, but then comes the end of the third quarter and our becnh would come in and we would go into the 4th down 20. Having depth at foward and Salim will help that alot. We are not going to be a great team we have to face that, but we should be mroe competitative.
