  1. Dwight Howard, Rasheed Wallace, they don't count ?????????
  2. Lunar are you my long lost twin. I have been trying to say those exact same two points on here till I'm sick.
  3. yes you noted the schedule, but for your idea of 6-18 we would have to lose 11 in a row since our record currently 6-7. 6-7 to your propsed 6-18 would be 0-11 stretch. Not hard to to figure out how we got to where we did based on your statement.
  4. Since I havent a peep out of Walter in 4 weeks about his boy Sene. He has quited on Roy and Foye now too. But I laughed really hard at this one. How I thought of you while at work is beyond me. "Saying Mouhamed Sene is raw is the understatement of the century. "Raw" implies a piece of meat that is already at the restaurant and just requires cooking; Sene is more like "foraging on the range somewhere in Wyoming." Tonight he picked up three completely avoidable fouls in three minutes in the first half. " - Daily Dime on ESPN
  5. I love all this love from fans only with Smoove in there SN. Why do we expect this from Marvin??? You act as if he is an unknown rookie. I expect 17-18 a night once his hand is fine. Why? Last month of the season last year, with no plays being run for him, and still a 19 year old rookie, he avg 12/3/3 a game. That was all in 28 min. Imagine after the summer he had of working out, and fixin his post moves. Now add in he will be starting and should have some plays run for him. I see no reason he can't get 17-18 a game. Look at his stats last year ppg went up and mpg went up each month. Marvin has proven he can score, and not just summer league guys, but in NBA games. Its as if nobody remembers the last few months of last year. He had 3 20 pt games as a rookie in limited role. So yes he has somewhat passed Smith. Smith didn't have one till his second year, and only 4 in his career.
  6. Ok Woody, Shelden has 7 pts and 2 rebs in 7 min. Smith goes 2/10 no effort, 4 TO's, and 2 reb, in 20 MIN!!! Um I know Shelden haas 2 fouls but so does smith, z, lo, freiji, and they are all out there. Whats the point of saving him if by the time u bring him back your down 10.
  7. Can we go back to the thread bout smoove playing like a rookie, 1/8 0/2 from 3, and 2 TO'S. That last 3 salim who hasnt missed yet is on the wing, one kick and he is wide open (your best 3 shooter) yet our worst % josh takes it
  8. Glad our worst shooting % player has taken the most shots in the 1st. The last one a prayer over 3 defenders with nobody to rebound. Yes thats you josh 1/7.
  9. Quote: We'd need a Billups-type PG. We'll that for sure ain't Paul or Deron. Billups is a shoot and score PG. JJ had more asst then him alst year. So if this is the case let the Marvin draft go.
  10. I too wanted to thank Mr. Levenson for having us be his guest. After being in Athens all weekend I haven't had a chance to be on. The seats were amazing, Mr. Levenson is actually a really big fan at heart. He was cheering and yelling like one of us. We were brought down at the end of the 2nd quarter, and due to an interview with SI Mr. Levenson was unable to come down until only a few minutes left in the 3rd. Being such a gracious host he had us stay until the end of the game. I wish the team didn't make it so close at the end, but it was a chance to see the true fan, and enthusiasim that he brings to the ownership group. It was really nice to talk and get an owners perspective on the situation. As we both said "we are a lot closer then most people think". We talked about the depth and drafts. The most interesting thing that I heard was he kept saying we had a great deal of assets that were wanted in the league. Maybe sign of trading to fill needs??? Just a thought could be nothing. He did mention that almost to a man everyone is hoping for a speedy Chill recover. He said he talked to Chill after the Detriot game and both felt we would have won the previous 2 games if he had played. Other then that there isn't much else to say but thanks for a wonderful time.
  11. Actually we never offered Kenyon "My body is as cheap as something from KMART" Martin a max deal thats why he passed. He said if we would match Denver's offer then he would be happy to be here, but we never came close. It was rumored we went after Damp, but I dont believe we even made him an offer. I can remember driving home from work, and listening to Buck go spew about how dumb BK was for not offering him a max deal. He would go on for weeks about how Damp was the ideal guy and we shouldnt p*ssy foot around offering him far less then fair market value, because if we didnt get him how bad we would be.
  12. Well Lascar it looks like you and I are the lucky two. Hopefully we can have a chance to talk at the game. Maybe you can finally get proof for Sothy that I'm not a figment of his imagination.
  13. and it just made this the best Thanksgiving eve ever. I didn't recognize the number, but answered anyways. It was a ticket rep. from Atlanta Spirit and the operator said that my name was chosen to occompany Mr. Levenson during the game and if I would be interested. Um let me think about that one for about 15 seconds. So I gladly excepted. Can I say again how great that ticket offer was.
  14. So Walt let me get this straight, you are saying the Roland rating is the truth. So if Shell plays against the Heat for two minutes in OT, DWade pulls up for a 3, J Williams pulls up for 3, and Payton hits a long jumper. (All maybe outside shots because of his presence) Thus allwoing 8 pts in two minutes. Then on offense Lue fires up a quick 3, Smith takes a 3, then JJ takes a jumper all misses. He is -8 scoring without touching the ball once, but still impacting the game making the other team take jumpers. Yet, Tyrus Thomas comes off the bench when the Laker scrubs are in and commits two TO's, goes 1-4 shooting (on a put back form us own miss), and the Laker scrubs cant hit a bucket. He is +2. Please define to me how this logic is sound. For a scorer yes I can see that, for someone who has the ball in his hands, yes, but for a guy brought into be a defensive force in the middle. He can't help the perimerter D broke down, but he is keeping the opponent out there. Lot better the last year when it was a layup drill. This is the stat that is most telling. Keep in mind that most of the time the opponent had more minutes then Shell, but the constant leaning does take a toll. Match up PTS against Season Avg Weber - 8 10 Fyre/Lee - 13 20 Howard - 11 17 Gooden - 21 13 (OT) Bosh - 19 23 Wilcox - 12 11 (OT) Vill/Gadz- 18 21 Haslim - 21 13 (OT) Note Shell only played in 19 minutes compared to Haslim's 49. All of this would led one to conclusively show (note not all is factored for Williams, but he and LO are the only new big men) that we are giving up far less pts in the paint. Which is his job.
  15. Ahhhh, Walter with the scewed stats again. So we give up more and score less with him on the floor. Yes, because the entire offense is run through him is why we aren't scoring. Can you put an asterik by that stat saying *Shelden is a rookie that starts. Therefore his minutes on the floor are against starters ie Wade, Bosh, Howard, Redd, Allen, Lewis, and Iverson so far. Gee wonder why we give up more when he is on the floor, could that be level of the opponent. As for scoring more and giving up less when he is not. Have you not seen our stat that our bench with lue and Chill etc is avg 35 pts a game. Because of that guy you hate in Bk we have depth which is the key factor for our start. Our bench has 3 starters from NBA teams last year (lue, Chill, Wright) I would put our bench in the top 5 in the NBA. So now look at that stat and tell me if it has any merit. This isn't hockey with +/-. If you want a real impact look at the players Shell is guarding and the game they had compared to other games. How did Bosh and Howard do against us? You cant blame Shell and us his +/- for Wade going off for 37.
  16. Quote: Quote: So you do agree with us. Our whole statement was people have to stop defending him. He still plays like a rookie and isnt our star. Some people on here, mostly with Smoove in their SN tend to think he is akin to Garnett. Welllll, yes and no. While I don't see Smoove as the next coming of Nique, I do see him as a decent player with the ability to be a solid starter in this league. He has great athleticism and somewhat of a nasty sreak but his focus is not always there. His dribbling, shooting, and court awareness need work but that's a part of the player development you should expect when drafting someone so young. Smoove wasn't exactly considered a baketball "prodigy" like a Garnett, Kobe, or Lebron. Some players just take longer to grasp the nuances of the game. Thank you for proving our point, please read again if this was written about any NBA player and you didnt know who you would assume a rookie, talent, but not quite there yet. problem he is in his 3rd year and still making rookie mistakes. The real question is it his fault or the coaching staff.
  17. How did Detriot do with that traditional PG, Billiups is just like JJ. At the time BK was trying to get JJ to be the point. Which honestly wasn't to horrible. The last 3 months of the season JJ was 4th in the league in ast/to ratio. I wrote on another post about BK is adopting to be like the Pistions. Tall defensive minded and long. Why he got Woody a Brown deciple. But look at Detriot when they were contending. The team was built around a lot of Forwards, in Prince, Sheed, Big Ben, Williamson, Mcdyess, and RIP, lets face it he is not a traditional SG he shoots maybe 15 3's a year(I see him as a SG/SF). Then a shoot first PG that was big and can defend. Call me crazy but it worked out for Detriotto the tune of a ring and Dumars for GM of the year. Now think predraft of Marvin/Paul PG: JJ/Billiups SG: Chill/Rip SF: Marvin/Prince PF: Smoove/Rasheed C: Zaza/Ben Now before you go killing me on the center part. Yes that is a glaring difference but if you are trying to get a tough reboudning defensive minded center that may be a bit undersized. UMMMMMMMMMM, who does that sound like. Just trying to present the otherside of the coin on this one. Oh does it help that nobody can see hindsight and every single person on the planet thought it was a two pick draft. BK would have been tarred and feathered if he took Paul or deron on draft night.
  18. HA! He is making $6million this year and it decends to $3.6 in 2010. please tell me how this is the worst deal, when we gave Hendu a max contract. Glenn Robinson near 10 mill. Cmon now its 4 games that are like his preseason since he missed the reg preseason and you are ready to call this the worst FA signing ever. HA! I hate to use this joke, but it applies. We are the Hawks, and you say this is the worst deal.
  19. So you do agree with us. Our whole statement was people have to stop defending him. He still plays like a rookie and isnt our star. Some people on here, mostly with Smoove in their SN tend to think he is akin to Garnett.
  20. Impressive Walt so for all this whining you do about SW, and how horrible of a pick it was you got a whopping 1 vote out of 29, and it was YOUR VOTE. HAHAHA. The pole is stacked in favor of negative votes, because there are 5 neg. options to pick from, and yet most people are still happy with BK's draft. Please go back and look at my post that showed every GM's draft in the last 4 years sorted by avg. draft postion and then again judge how awful BK is. Quote: Call it a slow day at work, but just to show what we are saying by picks better GM, here are teams drafts for 2003,2004,2005 since the 2006 rookies havent played enough to judge they will not be included. The teams are ranked in avg. pick number. This only includes 1st rounders. SO logically the teams with the lower draft postion should be worse picks. Those at the top of the list have had picks of better caliber players. Avg Pick 1) 4.5 Mil- 8)TJ Ford, 1)Andrew Bogut 2) 5.5 Cle- 1)Lebron James, 10)Luke Jackson 3) 5.6 Chi- 7)Kirk Hinrich, 3)Ben Gordon, 7)Loul Deng 4) 6.6 Cha- 2)Emkea Okafor, 5)Raymond Felton,13)Sean May 5) 7.3 LAC- 6)Kaman, 4) Livingston, 12)Yaraslov Korolev 6) 8.5 NYK- 9)Frye, 8)Sweetney 7) 8.8 Tor- 4)Bosh, 8)Arajuo, 7)Villenueva, 16)J. Name 5 teams with better drafts. PLEASE. I will give you with avg picks worse then ours Dal, NO, and Utah have done better. You wanna talk about bad GM'ing. Seattle has picked exclusivly big man to fill their need beside Jesus Shuttlesworth and Lewis. Hows that working out 4 first rd picks counting this year trying to fill that void, and Ridnor who is being discussed as being benched and playing horrible. Collision, Swift, Petro, and Sene. I'd take Shell and Zaza anyday over all 4 of those.
  21. Thanx bird. I think Sothy just roled over in his grave with two congradulator responses in a day. Guess I dont know anything and am a plan flamer.
  22. Hawk, neither Peoria or I are saying he flat out by himself cost us the game. Going back to the begining of this thread the debate was Smith playing like a rookie. That's all I have tried to point out, yes this rookie type play factors into W's and L's, but like you said there are many other factors. Our contention if I may summarize for Peroria is that everyone here is acting like Smooth is untradeable, s superstar, etc etc. He is what he is a 21 year old 3rd year NBA player still making mistakes most college players don't. Is this lack of experience, Woody coaching, lack of effort, or my opinion of all 3. Highlights are nice, but I'll take a guy just getting a reb. late in a game as oppossed to a dunk contest champ. (No I'm not saying we should get rid of Smoove, I really like the kid, but would a lot of you get off your knees, spit, wipe mouth, and stop making him into our superstar)
  23. And people questioned Sothy and I getting personal, I at least stayed on topic. I agree with you Teke but the name calling gets a little old. Wait its Walt. NM
  24. My only contention with that is Speedy has proven himself prior to this season where Smith has not. Speedy is also recovering from the hand injury and the sore knees. This is his first year in the system, and due to the injuries missed almost the entire preseason. So these first 4 games he has played has been his preseason. Learning where guys like to spot up, which guys look for the pass, which guys run out, it does take awhile to get a feel for your teammates, and learn where they like the ball and in what situations. He is basically 4 games into his preseason. Give him about 15 games before passing judgement. Then if he still is playing like this by all means, he needs to be scrutinized. For the last time most of our beef (well I know mine and several others) is a lack of attention and focus from Smooth. The lack of effrot at crucial times is very rookie like. My one and only comment about his shot. If your open you shoot it, but what about maybe one dribble to get in rhytem and step up. A deep 2 is worth more then a missed 3. Thats all I want one dribble, rhytem jumper.
  25. All of this Chris Paul, Deron talk makes me want to pull my hair out. Its been 1 year, just one, we all knew Marvin might take a bit longer. Wait a few years until you completely judge the draft. Secondly, I love how everyone saw this as a two horse draft. NOBODY had Paul going top 2. Hindsight is a beautiful thing isn't it. This reminds me of the predraft Manning vs Leaf draft. Nobdody talked about anyone but those 2 guys for 1 and 2. Now everyone says gee Chargers are dumb. Funny but a lot of Indy fans wanted Leaf. You can always look back and say will this guy that guy, but at the time we were a 13 win team, and the overwhelming best athlete in all of the draft was sitting there. All this being said Marvin is no Leaf. Nobody seems to remember the last 20 games last year when is minutes went up he was playing unlike a rookie. My favortie thing about Marvin last year started 7 games. In those 7 games 4 double doubles. That I like. Lets look at just his April numbers: In 9 games: Avg 28 min: 12.3 pts, 6.1 rebs, 1blk,1 stl, 2 asst, .450% FG, 79% FT For a rookie in which he had a monster summer and preseason to improve on those is it unreal to think in a soph. campaign for him to say have 30 min, 16 pts, 8reb, 1 blk, 1 stl, 2 asst, per game. That is just 4 pts and 2 boards more. Imagine if we had that for the last 3 games. We are talking about a 2nd year 20 year old getting close to 20/10. I think I will be happy with that.
