    The Play-In

Oh no. Me reacting to the news of a team being without a guy due to HASP ....
  2. Gotta steal the haters' line again, "Bwah, that's just 'cause he's got the ball in his hands all tha time."
  3. Just need somebody to carry the scoring load early since Trae will get special attention (most likely) from the start. Make the right play/read and no hot-potato'ing. Let it fly, KevinBoGallo.
  4. Bro, how many times do you have to see the "fan" with a jersey worn over his dress shirt, tucked into his pants, and wearing a crisp hat he obviously bought on the way to his seat going corporate-crazy looking into the camera after the Hawks make a play ... to know he probably got them seats 'cause he's some exec at AT&T or wherever? That's almost as bad as his kid. The 20-something sitting next to him wearing skinni jeans, designer sweatshirt, sunglasses, bling, the newest retro-J's on his smartphone all game, who's only there 'cause Kyrie's his fav player. Aiight, just make sure you keep that same energy when you look at MIA's early crowd.
  5. I spoke with the judges and we agreed to dock you cool points for failing to go 'fan-bivalence' here. But you're wrong about traffic here not being unique. tcampst mentioned it a bit in his post but the manner in which the city was built greatly exacerbates the problem. Even in cities like Chicago which are essentially built in a grid-like format (for lack of a better descr.), traffic can be bad but manageable. Atlanta is built like a bowl of spaghetti. Doesn't take much to completely throw things out of whack. Even under normal circumstances traffic is not manageable for that reason. Now, if you told us the arena was half-empty for most of the game, I'd be in lock-step with you. That was the case pre-Trae, for reasons we can discuss another (series of) day(s). Fan support has been markedly better these days, traffic-related issues notwithstanding.
  6. This is actually a brilliant rundown. Even though it comes from a carpetbagguh. I kid, I kid. I kid? @shakes it may seem improbable that traffic would cause the problem(s) you illustrated in your post but, for reasons thecampst listed and more, that is the reality in this city. And I will never forget the Yankees failing.... FAILING... to sell out playoff games not that long ago. So folks can miss me with the concept that they're super fans or w/e up norf. Agreed. Now you have to do a rundown on all of us. I'll write mine for you, "Yeah kg's a good poster. I model my life based on his musings."
  7. Finally, at long last, you have made the list.......
  8. Love scares me for the 1st qtr. Hope he blows his wad early. What? It's a metaphor. Whaaat? And I've witnessed Rondo literally lose balance on his own and fall out of bounds. I'm a little scared but .... I mean he literally just lost balance and fell outta bounds.
  9. Need moar DeAngry Hunter.
  10. Media tryna make 'fetch' a thing so bad with him. Gotta give him something... Fax.
  11. A rare installment of 'I've Heard Enough' ... If you listen to Antonio Davis speak about the PeliCan'ts (the org that pays his bills), you might think they went 83-0 this year. My goodness, they started the show talking about how great their win was and how great they played this year and how great this and that was ... I'm thinking, "waita minute ... these teams were 10+ games under .500, why're they even here?" This game was an example of why the play-in doesn't work. Neither these teams belong in the postseason in any way shape or form. But this dude act like they finna 'shock the world'. He out here talking about Herb Jones need to be on all-nba defense lists and whatnot. But, when asked about the Hawks, he out here talking about Alex Caruso is as good as Heurter, Hunter, etc. Like, huh?
  12. I carry an appropriate amount of 'worry' because anything can happen, plus it's a road game. Knowing the Cavs are probably gonna go with their primo defensive stoppah(sic), Okoro, on Trae eases that worry some. Speaking of stoppah's, do the Martin twins have another brother? I wouldn't mind having one of them on our team. They aren't the best or highest IQ players but they play hard and have a decent general skillset.
  13. Haha, dude blocked an aging Lebron a year or so ago and figured he was 'that dude'. Guess he took his ball and went waaay home. Him saying he's done with the NBA is like me saying I'm done with (insert p*rn star's name).
  14. I agree, in general. We'll have to beat them and they won't quit, which is to be expected. Also, if you're looking for them to not lie down like CHA did, that's a pretty low bar. CHA was more than in it at halftime, but already had the look of a team waiting for a soft place to lie down. Whatever plan they had wasn't working so the frustration was mounting. We'll have to approach Friday with an all-business mindset.
  15. My earrs are riiingiiiing .... Why so serious, supesy?
  16. My only gripe with what you said is the bolded. That game was over, that was just BKN taking their foot off the gas. We definitely need to play a better game than last night. Hornets got exposed mightily. And the idea that Ball > Trae was shown to be a fallacy. Trae's command of the game far exceeds Balls.

    The Play-In

Should we get off your lawn now, grandpa? I'm not a fan either, but I don't have the energy to lobby a complaint about it. There are far worse things.
  18. Sorry but there seems to be an obvious, intangible issue with him in the playoffs. You can cite stats and numbers if you like, but that's not what I'm talking about. I think you're reaching though. You know I'm right, and that you agree with me, but you don't wanna give me the win. It's ok, AH. Just take a breath, close your eyes and say it with me ... "I agree with you, kg".
  19. You basically agree with me .. full stop. I'm saying you can't make any concrete conclusions just yet but, so far, there's nothing good about his playoff performances. When you factor in the fact that he's supposed to be their best player, it looks even worse .... full stop (no, you used that one already) ... no cap. (good save)
  20. I kept getting told by people that wings can't play with Trae? Turns out things turn out pretty good for wings when they're not dribblin' the ball off their own foot and whatnot.
  21. Towns has played too many playoff games spectacularly bad for folks to be giving him the benefit of the doubt. There's something wrong with him, full stop. He's not just having off nights. He's melting down out there.
  22. He comes across so smug after the fact. Considering they had no plan for Trae simply passing the ball and the fact that they explosively melted down in the 3rd, that was a 'yikes' coaching performance.
