  1. Don’t want to hear Jalen Brunson, Tyrese Haliburton, SGA in the same breath as my point guard Trae Young ever again. Absolutely disgusting performance by Team USA. Should’ve got Trae….it is what it is.
  2. Masai saved us from trading AJ Griffin away…THANK YOU MASAI UJIRI!!! GOOD MAN!!! GOOD MAN!
  3. Toronto is a complete joke. Forget Siakam and let them deal with their own problem.
  4. Hmmm…could Clint be gone soon? What do the bettors know?
  5. You know who could run a half-court offense??? These coaches need to get their heads out their butts and stop being so mad that their buddy Nate got fired for being trash. Trae would’ve made this USA team so much better. Instead, the USA team is being beat consistently because their guards can’t do anything. What a joke. Maybe they don’t want the players to play with Trae because that means they would want to come on the Hawks??? Who knows? All I know is that the Team USA coaches clearly don’t want to win.
  6. We can absolutely agree to that. I think that is the way for Dre to the best way for him to be best player he can be. He will have the most spacing he will ever have in his career. I believe he can do this
  7. For me, I just need Hunter to be a 3 and D guy. That is all I need. At least 400 threes by the end of the year, 7-8 three-pointers a game. Dre needs to improve his C&S rate a lot. I expect to see that a lot more in this offense. I have come to accept the fact that he is never going to be the aggressive guy that attacks the rim/ mini Kawhi people thought he was gonna be 2-3 years ago. He is gonna be passive, he is gonna turn the ball over, and he is gonna probably take those dumb middies. Hunter is who he is at this point. Despite that, I believe Dre can be an above-average 3pt shooter who could help this team. The defense should be better with the new schemes Quin is cooking up and hopefully, Dre will improve. And if Hunter is trash....well we can bench him for AJ or Jalen and then trade him to Detroit for Bojan so either way we are fine This year is 100% his last chance if he is still on the roster.
  8. It doesn't matter if we are getting a top-40 player if the fit doesn't work. When people talk about getting Siakam, they talk about how great Trae and Siakam will be together, but they don't mention how Dejounte (a below-average 3pt shooter) will fit in all this. DJ's role could be greatly minimized and that could ruin his value to the team a lot. That could hurt us considering we just signed DJ to an extension literally a few weeks ago. And we are dealing with a GM in Masai who wants to try to win every trade he can, so he would almost certainly want one of our younger players. A lot of younger players are arguably not "team fanbase overrated good" but actually good so it may be bad to trade them. AND we still dealing with Siakam who has made it clear for weeks that he doesn't want to be here, so its possible we could be fleeced and he may not sign an extension here. I get people automatically assume that if the trade happens that an extension would occur, but Siakam may test the open market to see if he could get more money. He may not like Atlanta like DJ does. Right now until Siakam relents, he is a one year rental. So there are a bunch of reasons against the trade.
  9. I get why Jalen would be in a trade like this because him and Siakam play the same position, but Jalen Johnson could potentially be the best player on the raptors if he gets a 3pt shot (That’s an extreme hot take but I believe it since I don’t believe the Scottie hype at all). It doesn’t make sense to give up this many assets for a guy that says he won’t sign an extension here and is for all purposes as of right now a one year rental until another source says otherwise. unless we can get Siakam for cheap, hawks shouldn’t do it
  10. There are people hyping themselves up for august 3rd, but I’m not gonna lie, I don’t think anything is gonna happen. People are setting themselves up for disappointment. We have heard basically nothing from the hawks side about trading Kobe Bufkin (and they probably shouldn’t considering how the trade market looks right now). At some point they just need to just give up on the Siakam trade pursuit and just move on. Trade Capela, get a backup center, and let the young guys play.
  11. I just don’t think it makes sense for the Hawks to get Siakam. There are just so many questionable things about it. First, what we have to give up. You can’t give up Onyeka because he’s obviously going to be the starting center of a Siakam deal happens. Capela and Siakam spacing would be terrible. And it would be pretty awful to trade a guy who was top 10 in blocks despite coming off the bench. He could be amazing in a starting role. You can’t give up Jalen. His skill set mirrors Siakam which makes him a very likely candidate in a trade, but he’s also the best perimeter defender we have on the team. There is a possibility he could be huge somewhere and be an already better player than he currently is right now, especially if he improves his 3pt shot. You can’t give up AJ, who is being ridiculously treated like an add-on by a lot of people in the hawks community. He had 2 game winners, almost had a 50/40/90 season, and saved the beginning of last season when we basically had no spacing. He has shown he can be a three level scorer at NINETEEN years old and could improve even more. AJ could be our best wing player in the future. You can’t even give up on Bufkin. He improved every summer league game running the offense as a point guard (a role he usually isn’t suited for). He showed great defense throughout the summer league and could be the key that could make the Trae-Dejounte stagger work. The only young player that probably makes sense to give up is Saddiq Bey and even so, his contribution was important to the team as it helped provided the shooting and spacing this team desperately needed for the whole season. Even if we get Siakam, most people have not been able to explain on here how Dejounte and Siakam (two below average three point shooters) would be able to work together. Someone will say “Great players will always make it work!”, but that’s not a real answer. The spacing and shooting is going to be real concern. And how are we going to pay Siakam the max? Should we even pay Siakam the max at 30 years old? That could be one of the worst contracts in the league in a few years. And what if Siakam decides to walk in free agency? Someone may say that we have a bunch of cap space now, but I see that as we just wasted picks and a young player for absolutely nothing. I get there are a lot of older impatient hawks fans who want to win now, but those fans haven’t been able to answer any of those questions above. I rather us just go into the season with an extra POA defender and see what happens. Let the young guys play and let them grow into great players this year.
  12. I’ll just say this about the Siakam stuff in here. This team needs secondary playmaking, better defense, and more shooting. So people want to trade AJ Griffin, Onyeka Okongwu, and Jalen Johnson, 3 players who could do all these things because they’re young? The first three players I mentioned all shown more potential than any of the past rookies we’ve ever drafted in the Trae Young era. Who cares if they’re young? Jalen Johnson was a completely different player after Quin Snyder took over. Onyeka Okongwu is Ready to be a starter and was top 10 in blocks despite coming off the bench. AJ Griffin was so good as a Rookie that he made NATE MCMILLAN play him! AJ almost had a 50/40/90 season! People want to win now? I’m sorry but this team isn’t ready to win now. It’s not gonna be ready to win now for at least a year, maybe even two. Too many problems with this team exist right now that are gonna take a while to solve. It makes perfect sense to try and develop now when we have the chance. The only question is whether DJ and Trae want to wait for that to happen. also, I’m hoping that Dejounte does sign that extension tomorrow. It’s clear if you look at his Instagram he really loves being a hawk. DJ signing that deal will give us significant flexibility. But we will see tomorrow
  13. My issue with a Siakam trade is that it doesn’t solve any of the main issues that our team has. Our point of attack defense will still be bad. We would still have to have to develop whatever young players we have on the roster for at least a year in Quin. We would still have to find a way to extend Siakam after the offseason. We already have to deal with that stuff with Murray, so why would we make another trade for an older player so we can deal with the same problems? Adding Siakam on this roster isn’t going to make us instantly a contender. So what’s the point of even taking the risk? There may be even more problems that could pop up. If Murray is in a Siakam deal, we would have to find a starting SG because there’s no chance Bogi who has injury concerns will be able to start and AJ is literally in his second year. The best time to trade for Siakam was before the draft. It’s too late to do it now. Hawks shouldn’t give in to the Raptors dumb trade demands. Just keep the roster as is and just let Quin train the team.
  14. I feel like I’m taking crazy pills. Trae young just averaged 30 points and 10 assists in the playoffs this season. He had the worst spacing this season by far since his rookie year (which contributed to his lower efficiency) and still averaged 26 points and 10 assists. He led the league in total assists for 3 years in a row now. He was all-nba last year and carried the team to the playoffs last year. And we have people STILL debating whether or not Trae Young is a star and is worth the contract? What are we doing here?
  15. I don’t think Schlenk was an awful GM. A lot of the blame for his tenure is gonna be on Tony Ressler for meddling in so many deals and roster changes. Ressler basically rushed the development process after the ECF run, and that set the team back for basically two years. So many moves can be blamed on Ressler mandating to go under the Luxury tax (Huerter trade) or just really liking a player (not trading Collins). Ressler has got to stop messing with the team’s operations, and I am pretty sure that before Quin became the coach, he made sure that wasn’t gonna happen. For the 2019 draft, moving up for Hunter wasn’t a great move. HOWEVER, the 2019 draft class has shown to be kind of dud for players and the best wing of that entire class is literally Cam Johnson which I didn’t think anyone expected. Schlenk tried to get two defensive 3nD wings around Trae (the ideal way to build around him) and sadly it didn’t work out. One big criticism against him is that he is not much of a negotiator and you can tell with the lack of moves with the trade deadlines and the Collins contract. That is one I agree with you one. We were the only team who wanted to give JC close to the money he wanted and instead of negotiating it to a lower price, it stuck to $125M. It bit us in the butt years later. the draft picks were awesome and I love how he was always willing to take risks. I think that is gonna pan out in the next few years as we are entering this mini-rebuild. the Luka-Trae trade has been talked about so much already…there isn’t much to say but I will say we are in a better place than the Mavs. my overall thoughts are Schlenk’s legacy is mixed because there were a lot of great things that happened, but he lacked negotiating skills and didn’t want to make big changes (which could be blamed on Tony Ressler). It’s just a weird legacy to look back on.
  16. There is a 99.99999999999% chance that before Quin Snyder took the head coaching job, he told Tony Ressler told to let Landry and Korver do their jobs. That’s why the decisions have been so good. And Quin probably can make decisions too.
  17. I love John Collins man. I will miss the the Trae to JC connection lobs. Best PnR duo in the league is gone. His Embiid dunk will be one of the most iconic moments in recent memory. With that being said, let’s look at why we are here. It’s clear that despite John Collins being a steal at pick #19 in the 2017 draft, the front office a few years later clearly didn’t view him as the ideal power forward for this team. So they tried to trade him. The front office had several opportunities to trade him for a worse starter and a first round pick, but they never did because the front office thought they could get big fish for John even though it wasn’t the case. Schlenk paid him that $125M because he was afraid of letting a then valuable asset though. Schlenk was the only person negotiating with JC, and Schlenk has never been known as a great negotiator. He folded and gave JC as close to the max as he could. Because of roster construction, untimely injuries, and the contract JC’s value just became worse and worse and it’s why his value has basically become a salary dump today. It’s honestly really shameful how the whole JC saga has been handled. If we don’t win a championship with Trae, We will be looking at these early years of disfunction as to why. Thank god we have the young talent we have now. We have a chance to correct the mistakes of the first regime.
  18. I don’t know why people want a guy who’s been a negative defender for a center and constantly fouls out of games. I don’t know why people want a guy who said going to the play-in was more impressive than winning a championship. I don’t know why people who want a guy who has had so many playoff failures including being single digit scoring games in multiple playoff appearances. I don’t know why people want a guy who doesn’t know how to set a screen even though he’s been in the NBA for 5+ years. NO TO KARL ANTHONY TOWNS
  19. I wasn’t able to watch the NBA trade special on ESPN…apparently there was some Hawks stuff there? Notably, Capela wasn’t mentioned in Hawks trades a friend told me. Can anyone confirm?
  20. I don’t know how people feel about Jeff Schultz and his reporting (he is a very combative reporter, too combative imo) but in his recent article that came out yesterday he said that “Capela will be moved” and “Collins is being shopped aggressively”. Hawks front office doesn’t want to put Clint in the Mavs deal because they already have something in place already? It’s weird what’s going on right now in Hawks land. Here’s the main part of the article I’m talking about if people want to know.
  21. Congrats to the nuggets. They’re an amazing to watch and I love watching Jokic play. the nuggets are interesting because they’re a perfect example of how patience pays off…it took years of belief from the organization and just making the core better and better for the team to make it this far. It begs the question…should hawks fans have more patience when it comes to this FO, Quin, and the team? Nuggets just showed how patience can be a virtue.
  22. Wow Wembenyama’s team got blown out in first game in their league finals ….such an embarrassment. No way he could be selected as the first pick. He’s gotta drop to the 15th pick, such a shame…
  23. Cason Wallace would be the dream point guard for hawks… gimme gimme gimme https://twitter.com/draftdummies/status/1665071211422920704?s=46&t=JVLcd4QJGp-FYCEkBb3y6g
  24. https://twitter.com/georgefoster72/status/1665020595761827843?s=46&t=JVLcd4QJGp-FYCEkBb3y6g Recently saw this tweet about Dominque Wilkins and had no idea he was a Clipper or a Celtic at the end of his career. I’m a newer Hawk fan since the Joe Johnson days as a kid. I want to know from the older members of this, what was the reaction when Dominque Wilkins got traded to Los Angeles Clippers from everybody? Betrayal? Happy it happened? What was the vibe?
  25. The Celtics are embarrassing but this isn’t a surprise to anyone who has seen how they’ve played the last 4 years. Jaylen brown is probably gone unless the Celtics give him the supermax on the trade for jaylen brown thing, I would lean no for 4 reasons: 1. This roster is not ready for a win-now move. I don’t think jaylen brown is a player that will move the needle significantly for this team or fix the core issues this team has. We will still have a bunch of cap issues, we will still have a bunch of almost one-way players, and the POA defense will still be bad. 2. AJ and Jalen Johnson will probably both be gone and trading two really good young players I don’t think will be worth it for a guy who does not help the problems of this roster. Jalen could be a great passer and defender on this team. AJ could be an amazing scorer which could be useful if Bogi gets traded in a year or two. Those two are super valuable. 3. It will be incredibly hard to sign both Murray and Brown to contracts, so there is a good chance that Murray may leave in free agency making the Murray trade pointless. Brown can move up to SG, but we won’t have a 3. The trade could create even more cap problems. 4. Hawks have had a terrible history with “win-now” moves that have resulted in absolute failure and honestly I just want the front office to chill out a bit after the Murray trade. Fix the core issues of the roster first before getting another star.
