Official Game Thread: NBA Team at Warriors

35 year old Patty Mills is playing better than Dejounte right now and people are wondering why I want this man gone and that we won’t be able to get what we think we will get for Dejounte lmao- 56 replies
-
We are gonna get grimes and two picks in the end of this, and we are all gonna be happy. Just watch yall.
-
Shocking reality that people don’t want to hear: we way overpaid for Dejounte because of his one all-star season and he hasn’t been able to come close to those since in Atlanta. This is what the market values Dejounte at right now. He’s not a massively impactful player, so at this point the return being this low is just not surprising to me. It is what it is.
-
So if this right…I am praying they send D’Lo to the Knicks so we can get Grimes because it sounds like as of right now Dejounte is about to be a laker once they figure out where D’Lo is going.

Quin should be a 1 and Done.... I know we spent a lot of money...

When Trae and DJ is on the court, it’s a net negative. When Trae is off the court, and DJ is on the court we are worse on offense and NOW defensively too. We are better offensively and defensively with Trae on the court. Why do we need to have a third coach to confirm what we already know about this pairing? It’s the same stuff over and over again. Just break it up already! -
Multiple reports have indicated for months now that the Lakers want to keep Reaves. The hawks may just budge and just D’Lo because they want to Dejounte trade situation to be over with and I can’t blame them. There doesn’t seem like any real other suitors right now that REALLY want Dejounte like that. The Knicks seem fine now since they got OG. The Heat are a top 6 seeded team and seem fine and don’t seem like they’re in a rush. if you want value in that deal, it’s really just getting off of DJ, getting an expiring contract for cap space in the summer, and that lakers pick which could be really good in a trade for somebody else (as long as it has no protections).
-
I agree that Reaves is a much more valuable asset than D’Lo but the problem is that 1. Reaves is one of the worst defenders in the nba, 2. Lakers would need a guard to pair with Murray, and 3. Reaves isn’t eligible to be traded till the 15th (if the hawks want to do a trade as soon as possible, they have to wait until later). i think it makes more sense just to get D’Lo just to have an expiring contract you can get off soon rather than later. Besides, that lakers 2029 pick could be incredibly valuable
-
At this point, I am fine with a deal with the lakers that is basically let’s say D’lo, max Christie, their 2029 first, and a few seconds. It’s not the best offer but D’lo contract is expiring and can be used to clear the books. Christie can block shots and is young and has potential. I don’t think the hawks are ideally gonna get the best offer they can, but that’s okay. We are in this situation because we held onto guys for so long waiting for some perfect deal that never came into play. It’s just to clear the books at this point and start fresh with Trae and Jalen. I’m ready for this team to get out of this funk this whole Dejounte trade situation has caused. It’s so tiring. We can’t let this turn into another JC thing where we just let this simmer. Get it done now.
-
Yeah we are losing this game. No defense being played again.. turning it off. Good run
-
I can not wait for Dejounte, WHO TJ MCCONNELL IS COOKING BY THE WAY, to be off this team. His defense is garbage man.
-
Nobody is gonna be happy no matter what the front office does. Just the terrible trio of Hunter, Capela, and Dejounte off my team. Time to start fresh.. TIME TO RIP THE BAND AID OFF
-
As much as much as I’d really wanted Siakam…I’m glad the front office decided to take an actual direction and move to a younger and more athletic core and save up for next season. It just makes more sense than trying to save a currently lost season right now. Develop the young guys and get as many assets as you can to make a big trade for next season.

We got people who to trade Trae when it’s so obvious that our “second option” Dejounte Murray doesn’t want to be here, hates his role in Quin’s system, and wants to play his own way. Trade DJ, get some role players THAT PLAY DEFENSE and consolidate Hunter and Capela later. There is no reason to trade one of the best hawks of all time right now UNTIL HE ASKS OUT. It’s stupid, ownership doesn’t want to trade Trae, no reason to even make these trades.
-
I want Siakam and or Lauri on this team, but I’m realizing that there isn’t really a good chance to make either deal. Utah would want Jalen and that would instantly kill any deal we want with them. Masai is one of the hard head GM that like to play hard ball for no reason and history has shown that Raptors are trying to constantly compete. There is zero reason to trade both Bogi (6MOTY candidate) AND AJ (despite how bad he’s playing and he’s clearly dealing with personal stuff) just to tank the shooting for Siakam. It just doesn’t make any sense. We know Masai will ask for the world and we have to ask..is it worth it?
-
In the last three years, can you name the best free agent signing for the Hawks? AARON HOLIDAY In the last three years, can you name the most significant moves made during the trade deadline? Saddiq Bey, Bruno, and Garry Bird last year which helps shooting but doesn’t move the needle that much. For the past three years, the hawks, instead of consolidating players and assets they wanted to move on into a star player for Trae, have decided to basically to give up players for basically nothing. JC got traded for scraps because we tanked his value, Huerter trade was terrible in return with the exception of the SAC pick we will get, Gallo was salary filler for Dejounte Murray (which is looking to be a terrible trade everyday). Stop defending the Resslers and ask yourself: Why have we made no impactful free agent signings? Why is ownership content with being one of the smallest teams in the NBA with a 6’1 point guard being the star AND continuing to be smaller? WHY is the team constantly refusing to consolidate their assets to get an actual star player for Trae?

I hope the Siakam deal fails to go through.

Update: one I want Siakam badly now. Like I want him like I need water. We got no size, I don’t care how bad his shooting is. Just bring him here. Two, no reason to trade Bogi when he is literally the 3rd best player on the team and plays perfect in Quin’s system. If you want to trade for Siakam, TRADE DEJOUNTE MURRAY! Looking back, I feel so dumb for even thinking we shouldn’t trade for Siakam lol. We need to make a move now. -

How is the worst shooting 3pt team in the nba shooting 50%+ plus? And they’re 8-8 from three right now. What in the world- 338 replies

As of right now the defense is going to be bad with this team especially with Jalen out. The only numbers on defense we should be worrying about right now is if our score is higher than the opponent’s. If I hear ANYBODY tell me that Trae is the problem with the hawks when this guy has ONCE AGAIN carried this team to success, I’m gonna scream. He’s a generational player. This team needs to be serious about building around him. it was a good win, i don’t care about how close it was. A WIN IS A WIN

givemesome1ce1 replied to lethalweapon3's topic in Homecourt
Like it’s always been for the past six years, we were competitive in the Trae young minutes BUT the second Trae steps out, the entire house falls down. And you still have people who STILL want to trade this man despite him being the only reason why this game is even a 16 point deficit and not a 30 point one. Rebounding across the board has to be better. There is zero reason why Trae who is 6’1 should have more rebounds than Dre and OO. It’s insane. After Jalen’s injury, people gotta step up defensively if this team is gonna actually do anything. Just so frustrating. Onyeka has to be better, and I’m hoping he can get out of this slow start he’s in.- 177 replies

4 game win streak…we didn’t get a 4 game win streak until JANUARY last season. 3rd best offense in the league. #6 net rating in the league right now. Great team win. Only thing I’m wondering is why AJ Griffin is not playing, I want to see him play more….but WE MOVE TO OKC- 411 replies

Official Game Thread: Knicks at Hawks -- The Home Opener!
givemesome1ce1 replied to lethalweapon3's topic in Homecourt
This was a rough game. Trae has another terrible shooting night despite having 11 assists. I wish he would start the season faster, but I trust he can figure it out. Clint…I don’t know what else you can say man. Inexcusable stuff from him tonight. Also, you have to start Jalen Johnson at this point. He provides the passing and defense the starting lineup needs. In theory, Saddiq provides shooting to the lineup, but he’s not shooting threes so he’s just doing cardio out there. I just rather have Jalen out there and have Trae and Hunter be the main shooters. I know people are disappointed by the slow start but you have to LET THE TEAM COOK. This is a new offensive and defensive scheme that the entire team is learning. The Knicks had the advantage of several players being under 1-2 years of continuity under Thibs’s system. Everything with the Knicks just looked sharper because it’s stuff they done before. The Hawks players are just starting to learn this new system a few months ago. despite learning this new system, the hawks still managed to score 120 points! If I told you on Thursday that the Knicks would shoot 45.6% from three, you would think that the hawks would’ve got blown out. The hawks were able to compete multiple times with a team with strong continuity while learning a new offense and defense. There will be growing pains, but there is still good signs here that this team can be very good. I believe that this team by the end of the season will be great.- 465 replies

2023-24 Hawks Media Day OCT 2ND/Training Camp/Pre-Season
givemesome1ce1 replied to JayBirdHawk's topic in Homecourt
This is what we need to hear. The hawks don’t need to be play-in champions anymore. We are good enough to be a top 4 seed. This team is hungry and ready. I love it. -
