  2. I DON'T CARE ABOUT ARGUMENTS OF US (HAWKS) NOT NEEDING SHAQ OR NOT WANTING TO PAY HIM MUCH. IT IS FLAT OUT PATHETIC THAT OUR OWNERS: 1. dump almost all of our cap on Joe when it more than likely wouldn't have took more than $90-100M (or less since Lebron was still undecided) to keep him from other teams, 2. basically half-azzed efforts to entertain signing Shaq when he first expressed interest in ATL, 3. have made it extremely tough to resign Horf now, yet along Horford and Crawford --- URGHH!!!! 4. turned down an offer to sign & trade for Shaq because involved Marvin, then stating they refuse to move any of their starters! WAKE UP! Marvin (who I like and support) has given us bench production for at least 4 of 5 years, with the only exception being his contract year (big surprise, huh?), we could have moved him, gained Shaq for 2 years to compete for a ring, and then Horford's new contract would start that following year with Marvin's $7-8M off the books!!!! 5. they also are not understanding the positive financial impact Shaq would have on the city, including the casual NBA fan that doesn't really care for Hawks but wants a to see Shaq, not to mention that Shaq is a HOF center instantly makes a team tough and also commands double teams on the offensive end. Imagine teams doubling Shaq while Horford awaits open mid-range jumpers at the elbows, Smoove slashing in for dunk and Joe, Bibby, and the Crawfords bomb away from outside --- URGHH!!!! 6. now we sit back watch another EAST contender (looks like BOS) better their squad and become a tougher team to beat, and THEY WILL MORE THAN LIKELY BE THERE COME ROUND 2, will WE???? ANd if it is BOS, my goodness! They've been in the finals 2 out of the last 3 season!!! No matter how you look at it, this was a fail that may scar us for a long time. Not to get Shaq, a big name that was totally obtainable when he even has/had interest is not good for us now and in the future. This just further distinguishes our management as cheap, unfocused on winning, pleasing the fans and building their product, which in turn makes money. Future free agents WILL stray from signing here for a while and Joe's SUPER CONTRACT, Marvin drafting over elite PGs (and then the reluctance to trade him) will probably limit our team for the next decade. SAD and very disappointing!!!
  3. Thank you ASG for NOT signing Shaq? You are kidding right? What are we supposed to do inside the paint defensively in the playoffs? Oh I forgot, Collins will carry us past Dwight and other intimidating interiors that we will face, right? Son, you are simply patronizing our cheap, cluelesss owners who honestly think we can "contend without having to spend" while almost every 2009-10 Playoff team in the East improved, except the Cavs (of course). We should improve minimally from the coaching change and increased usage of the bench. But even a few of the teams that didn't make the postseason last year made solid improvements such as the Net, Knicks, and Wizards. I don't see it. Shaq can still command double teams which will spread the floor and open up wideopen shots for Joe, Bibby, Marvin, and the Crawfords. And if for no other reason, we would not allow another contender to get Shaq, especiall in the East.
  4. It is listed on Channel Surfing @ 8:30pm....Only thing is ESPN3.com has nearly flawless connection with little to no lag/buffer AND shows great quality....Channel Surfing was not the best but last time I watched on it but it's servicable...SO there you guys have it...Hopefully it doesn't get blacked out or something stupid... You're welcome... :go ahead:
  5. This SUCKS! Just let Marvin go, DAMN! WHY? 1. We picked him over CP3 and Deron & we are paying dearly for that and will until (hopefully) Teague turns our PG flaws into a thing of the past. 2. Then we force Marvin to start in a lineup where he does NOT fit or find his game... 3. We also are paying between 6-8 MIL based on what he did in his contract year??? LOL!!! Every player goes hard in their contract year!!! Marvin's a real cool, laid back guys, who I met in person twice and I know he has a great relationship with teammates and he can ball...But a frontcourt of a healthy Shaq / Al / Smoove could put us into the Finals and give a shot to get rings... 4. Smoove needs to be our Gerald Wallace/Prince SF to guard Lebrons and Melos while Joe defends the Kobes and Wades....That allows Horford to be his natural PF next to a big Shaq inside....But moving Marvin to the bench would having us with about $17MIL (Marvin and Crawford) on our bench...Ugh! 5. Last but not least, we'd get SHAQ!!! Not dominating Shaq of the 90s and early 00s...But huge strong as #ell, drawing fans to Phillips, good footwork, league-wide respected, still commanding double teams from weak teams, and bang with any other big in the league SHAQ!!!! I'd let Marving go to CLE for more cap space. But to get Shaq and save some or all of our Mid-Level sounds great to me.
  6. A. Aminu - You guys haven't mentioned Aminu much / He was very agggressive and when you have this type of height and his agility, you can be a solid player / Let's see if he can keep it up and get a spot ./ he was very solid on both ends... Teague - look very decent / very solid decisions and sharp ballhandling even when pressured / knocked down a few shots including a sick 3PT splash when he broke some guys ankles and maed him fall... J. Crawford - looked almost like a mix of Joe/Jamal / Joe's deceptive quickness + Jamal's fearlessness / Jordan can shoot and is not afraid to / also made 3-4 nice dishes / and he hustles on DEF (gambles a little) Pape Sy - started very slow and tenative, but when he turn it up, he looked ready (some early calls against him may have played into that a bit too) / he was was very comfortable handling the ball @ PG!!! J. Augustine - didn't do anything special but he played solid and showed decent skills / he has a good basketball IQ... R. Hendrix - made BIG impact with hustle and DEF / he may not make da team / but he kept us in this game toward the end / was a real solid impact...
  7. CHILLZ + JAMAL C. for G. ARENAS *WAS definitely has interest in Chillz and Crawford would give them scoring pop (18-20 ppg) to go along with John Wall's R.O.Y campaign season...Chillz would give them great minutes along with A. Thorton... *ATL gets a star backcourt mate for Joe that does it all offensively and adds a tough dynamic threat to our lineup...Arenas + Joe would instantly be the best backcourt in the NBA!!! And the shooting threats from that backcourt would really allow Smoove to play SF, especially vs teams like the Heat and Magic...
  8. Big Story in CLE: Cavs Fans get together and make a billboard urging Lebron to stay!!! See article here Could we get together do something like this for Joe???
  9. Nobody really wants to hear this BS so early!!!! Find something else to do....At least until we play 15-20 games this season...
  10. Cleveland may end up getting him with word getting around about how good he's playing this summer...Link
  11. I think there could be an (average) of 10-12 minutes in games when he's used...He's healthy, looking strong and quite young (according to reports) and that's good enough for my vote...Nothing wrong with adding some veteran leadership to our perimeter guys and why not pick up a very good talent like Stackhouse FOR CHEAP...We're also talking about a guy that once finished 2nd in the NBA in scoring behind Iverson one year with nearly 30ppg...Granted, that was 8-9 years ago, but he knows what it takes to provide what's needed... I say YES!!! Sign him!!!
  12. I REALLY CAN'T WAIT! I got so sick of cheesers, glitches, and sticky animations in NBA 2k9...And if you have played 2K10 Draft Combine, you've seen some of the improvements already, like: + They are finally focusing on having great offensive and DEFENSIVE gameplay for 2k10... + The new fatigue/stamina system is going to really crush cheesers who run around forcing with guys like Kobe, Lebron, T-Mac, etc all game... + The new player sizes and court spacing is going to really allow you to create plays and knock down open shots against 80-85% of people who play online because of their TERRIBLE defense is so bad... It's gonna be GREAT! ALSO, if you guys play online you already know that the leagues are where all the action is...And I usually run some of the best NBA 2K leagues around...So if any of you guys wanna get down, let me know...Hit up my gamertag and let me know that you are from our Hawksquawk forum... Here are a couple of my leagues from NBA 2k9: DoDaDamDang v1-4 and 2k9 Aint Over
  13. ***NEWS FLASH*** PS3 consoles mess up too, just not as often as the older Xbox 360s...The newer 360 systems were restructured a bit to nearly eliminate overheated and GPU/CPU burn out...Newer Xbox 360s w/ HDMI have better heatsinks, different arrangement....But it's best to not to play your system no more than 2 to 3 hours or so at a time before allowing it to cool for at least 30-45 mins...
  14. #1 - I'd take either Pops Mensah Bonsu or Othello Hunter - they both are tough, energetic, bigs that hit the boards, and they both bring all out hustle to the bench... #2 - I'm hoping to see Mario West come back....For all the reasons that he made the team the last couple of years, plus he'd be cheap and I heard he's imprvoed a bit....
  15. Is it me is DEN just giving away players AND PICKS? (Read below) Nuggets swap Hunter, 2010 pick to Memphis Posted Aug 7 2009 8:33PM MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) -- The Denver Nuggets swapped Steven Hunter, a protected 2010 first-round pick and cash to the Memphis Grizzlies in exchange for a future conditional second rounder, Grizzlies general manager Chris Wallace said Friday. Huh?
  16. ACTUALLY.... ORLANDO - Dwight has never really owned Horford / Dwight rebounds on anybody but he has never had huge nights against Al + Josh ? The big factor is tha tCarter has always been a Hawks killer, but I think a healthy Joe will water that down this year...But the big thing about ORL is that they kept Peitrus and added Barnes and those guys are big time hustle guys that defend very well...(1-3) BOSTON - Rasheed has never done anything big against the Hawks because our guys usually play him well / Hawks have matched up well against the Celtics since 07-08 Playoffs / Hawks just never pulled out those down-to-the-wire games against / Last season alone: Losses by 1, 3, 6 and the only bad loss to BOS was by 12 (without Marvin and Joe was slumped)...The guys that were consistently the key factors in those past matchups were Powe, Posey, and Big baby Davis (all of which may no longer be Celtics come start of this season) - Look for Hawks to have some success against BOS this year...(3-1) CLEVELAND - They added Shaq which pretty much "officiates" the Hawks right out of any game against them unless the Hawks shoot 65% for the game and nail about 17 threes / Shaq + LBJ guarantees them to get a call from the refs on every offensive possession vs the Hawks and LBJ + Shaq will only combine for 1 foul - "You know I aint lying" - LMAO!!! (0-all season)
  17. That is actually an average of $16M per...But Roy's actual contract more than likely would start around $14M and end near $18M in the final year...IMHO, even though Joe is prob my favorite player, that is a little too steep for Joe at this point...He pretty much played up to the 5yr-$70M that he got when he signed here...But over the last 2 seasons, he has not shown that he deserves more than $70M... So, I think he should be resigned in the $65-70M range (which is an average of $13-14M per and could start at $11-12M) or the Hawks could tack on incentives for Joe to maybe get up to $75M (depending on his numbers)...In that situation, he'd still be the highest paid Hawk and he'd have incentives to motivate him to stay consistent and put up nice numbers going forward...I think that would be more than fair and it would give us a little more room for us to lock up Horford next year...
  18. That is another reason why Joe burns out and can't stay on the bench longer that 2-3 minutes. If we let Marvin come off the bench with the green light as the go-to-guy in the 2nd unit, we could improve a ton without even making a trade or signing. I think Al, Josh, Joe, JC, and Bibby may be our best lineup and starting them would be a great experiment.
  19. I've been saying that since the Crawford trade went down!!! That would put Marvin on the bench as the 6th man, and still be allowed to play starter's minutes with a bigger role on the offensive end. I also would have liked to have brought Flip to really give our 2nd unit a strong 1-2 attack. Marvin could come off the bench and look for his shot and have more room to flourish without having to fall back because for the other starters to get shots. Throw in Mo and ZaZa's hustle, and Teague at wheel that unit could be very dangerous. AND A SOLID BENCH IS ALWAYS ONE OF THE KEY COMPONENTS OF TOP CONTENDERS!!! Joe has proven for years that he can hold his own very well at SF on both ends. He has shown that he could guard the opponent's best offensive wing player when needed (including D-Wade, Kobe, and Lebron) better than Marvin and still put up 20-22ppg (half injured). And with Joe and Josh covering the opponents' strongest offensive players defensively, we could be able to have more speed on defense (providing more help for Bibby), spread the floor wider with JC/Joe/Bibby all being long range threats. That's rotation that I think could possibly even help us crack into the top 3 in the East. That's how I'm going to run with the Hawks on NBA 2K10 - LoL!!!
  20. I hate trying to read jumbled stats on message boards and blogs...
  21. Yes, KG! Keep in mind, KG is one of my favorite players because his heart/passion, leadership in most fassets of the game, and his deserving of that championship, but he is truly a bit overrated. I don't agree with this statement from the article..."In other words, it is well-known among the league's coaches that Garnett is a frontrunner who will inevitably choke when a critical game is up for grabs." I don't think teams really count on KG to choke in the clutch that much and most teams respect him a lot more than that. My reason to say that he's overrated comes from comparing his 07-08 Championship year to last year's 08-09 season AND watching him in a hand full of games last year. True, he's a leader on a team the has 3 possible Hall of Famers, so he doesn't have to do a lot or be the KG like he was in Minnesota. Ok, we get that. But, take a good look at his numbers last year. With the exception, of FG% and FT%, every stat in every category was down to the lowest in his career, barring his rookie year. Even prior to his injury, the 20 games before were atrociously inconsistent for a leader, that he's respected as. And for my fellow NBA 2k gamers, him staying rated 98-99 all year was ridiculous. Cover boy or not.
  22. Does he want to sign here or what? Why are we waiting and missing out on other talented bigs? The guy was in town last week and Hawks expressed plenty of interest, so why hasn't he signed yet? Did I miss something? There are still a few guys out there that are younger, more hungry, and (a couple are) equally/more talented. There still free agents out there that can come in contribute solid minutes up front like: + Pops Mensuh-Bonsu - a tough, strong, high energy, "will not fail" rebounder who defends aggresively and runs the floor + Ryan Hollins - tall, athletic young guy with very long arms that plays with energy and contest a lot of shots + Hakim Warrick - another very athletic long-arm guy, but with a decent offensive game (still improving) I mean come on, we missed out on Wilcox, Gooden, Bass, and McDyess (albeit mostly because of money) but we only need to add one these guys to compliment Zaza and then add G. Siler and (hopefully Mario West) to fill out main roster...And that would leave maybe 1-2 spots for training camp guys to make the squad...
  23. Pro boxer (former champion) and GA native, Vermom Forrest killed in attempted robbery! R.I.P. Champ!!!
  24. I want Siler, Homicide (if no Flip), and Hunter (if no Solo) to fill out our roster. Siler - with the right development and consistent discipline could become as good as a 17/11 starter or a 11/6 backup who will clog up the paint defensively and provide a strong low post threat... Homicide - appears to have natural offensive ability ala Flip Murray that can be unstoppable once he adjust to the pro level / if we're not going to hang on to Flip, I say let's let this compete for scrap minutes and maybe play some D-league while we keep a close eye on him... Hunter - is a very hard working hustle big that can always be used but can Woody wise up and use guys like him in spot minutes? Few people around the mini camp are singing praises about work Hunter has put in and the improvement he's made this offseason (including a consistent jumper)...
