  1. I keep saying this and again I'll say it... IF WE WANT TO MAKE IT FURTHER THAN LAST YEAR WE EITHER HAVE TO: A) resign both Flip and Marvin (reasonably @ 7-8.5 per) / start JCraw at SG with JJ a SF / Marvin (w/ starter mins) + Flip man the 2nd unit scoring = Deeper, More Dangerous Hawks team with explosive bench and balance B) trade Chillz (rights) + Mo or Morris for a def big (Camby or similar) / sign M. Barnes + Wilcox (or similar) = More balanced defense and a little bit of cap relief
  2. Brock wants to be known as a "bad *ss" so much it's kinda ridiculous....He needs to to show more class and respect...Now with that being said, he dominated Mir and showed some improvement and looked "official"... But, call me crazy, but I would love to see Lesnar vs Mir 3 because I think Mir was doing OK standing and striking this time, but Brock overwhelmed him on the ground...Mir just cam out a little timid and then got trapped on the ground with his head exposed...I think Mir could do a lot better and could possibly beat Brock again...
  3. Are the Hawks even contemplating bringing Flip back at a very reasonable price? Because even though we have Crawford, you can never have too many crafty, savvy vets that score the rock in bunches like Flip. I'm campaigning for Crawford to start with Joe and Bibby, because I feel that Joe Johnson could be an even bigger Lebron or T-Mac-type scorer/facillitator at SF and the floor would be spread wider with Bibby, Crawford and Joe on the court at the same time. That would also move Marvin to the 2nd unit where he could be the man and still get starter minutes alongside Flip, Mo, Zaza and a developing Teague. And that one simple adjustment could easily increase our wins up to 52-56 next season and possibly into a top 3 spot in the East. Because chemistry is a huge factor and solid depth carries teams to the next levels. Now, even though ORL added Carter, CLE added an old "Shack" and BOS added the undpredictable, up-in-age Sheed, doesn't mean they will definitely be in the top 3. We saw last year when J. Oneal went to TOR and Brand joined the Sixers that offseason projections do not always develop in the regular season. PHI struggle 3/4 of last season while TOR struggled all year, trade JO, and did even make the playoffs. We saw teams like CHI and MIA step into the playoff picture following terrible season the year before. So, 2009-10 may very well be a wide open year for the Hawks.
  4. Here's the place I'm looking to check out very soon: www.thecounterburger.com You control your burger destiny with all those options...LoL!!!
  5. I would prefer a breakdown similar to this one as a basis: (of course includes hope of re-signing Flip) C: Horf 24 / Zaza 20 / Andersen 4 PF: Smoove 32 / Andersen 12 / Horf-Marvin 4 SF : Joe 28 / Marvin 16 / Mo 4 SG: Craw 24 / Flip 14 / Joe-Mo-Mario 10 PG: Bibby 30 / Teague 10 / Craw-Flip-Mario 8
  6. David Andersen plays lot like Mehmet Okur so here's how I would ccmpare the two from what I've seen (of Andersen since 2002): Athleticism: Andersen is slightly more athletic and more agile Size: Very similar / Both are 6'11-ish but Okur is 5-10 punds heavier BBall IQ: Very similar. I think Andersen has a little more all-around awareness. Rebounding: Okur seems a little better and has avg 7-8 reb over his career. Shooting: Similar. Their shots even look very similar. Andersen shoots a great % but Okur is NBA-tested and proven. They both also have range extended to 3PT. Post Scoring: Andersen is clearly better. He has a ton of moves, fakes, and a very soft touch around the basket. Post Defense: Undetermined. Once again, Okur is NBA-tested and proven. Quickness: Andersen is faster, quicker and hustles more. Ball Handling: Similar. But again Andersen is faster, quicker, and handles well. Other similarities: They both have great hands (even in traffic), the both know how to use their height, they both have aggressive scoring mentalities for their size, and they are great inside-out compliments to strong centers. Re-sign Zaza and add D. Andersen!!!
  7. Keep in Mind: These lineups would be after the suggested guys are signed/ re-signed... LINEUP A: My choice because with Marvin going to the bench, he would get a bigger offensive role = more shots, he and Flip would be the 1-2 punch in the 2nd unit giving us very solid depth, and he'd add more size to that unit...There is usually TWO MAIN D's that championship contenders posses: DEFENSE + Depth = Solid Contender!!! Would we really want Flip and Crawford fighting for shots in the 2nd unit, especially in a playoff series when our team needs more offensive punch in the starting 5. C - Horford / Zaza / Morris PF - Smoove / D. Andersen (rumored)/ Solo SF - Joe / Marvin / Mo SG - Crawford / Flip / Mo / Mario PG - Bibby / Flip / Teague / (camp invite) Main Second Unit: Zaza, DA, Marvin, Mo, Flip LINEUP B: Don't like the depth because if Marvin starts, there's less size and offensive punch on the bench, Flip and Crawford would fight for shots eventually, vreating more pressure on Teague to develop quicker to make things work. C - Horford / Zaza / Morris PF - Smoove / D. Andersen (rumored)/ Solo SF - Marvin / Mo SG - Joe / Crawford / Flip / Mario PG - Bibby / Flip / Teague Main Second Unit: Zaza, DA, Mo, Flip, Teague What do you think?
  8. Either one of those guys would be a great fir for our team because they both would add to the interior DEF and DEF rebounding. Of course a combo of Gortat and Zaza would be a nice 2nd unit frontcourt for the playoffs, leaving only a healthy Shaq + LBJ in CLE to worry about.
  9. I think we should move Law, along with Claxton (whose rumored to be on the move) to make room for Royal Ivey and Flip Murray (who should resign) to cover the backup PG minutes. Bibby deserves to be resigned here with us, but not for a penny more than $7M per. But that would give us an small upgrade at our point guard rotation just by adding Ivey's solid defense and toughness. Plus Ivey is very familiar with the guys, the city, the organiztion, and "may" welcome an increased role here where he started his career. He could also be sign very cheap (similar to what Flip mad last year). I would love to see Ivey and West hound the perimeter for 4-5 minutes per half.
  10. Who really wants to see the Smoove-less Hawks? The only players that have been rumored to possibly be moved this summer, that I'd be OK with moving Smoove for, are OF COURSE, Bosh or Amare.... What would the SUNS demand? Smoove + Law - would work (salary wise / anything more should be a deal breaker) What would the RAPTORS demand? Smoove + #19 - would work (salary wise / TOR doesn't need Law or Claxton's expiring contract) Which squad put ATL into championship contention? Lineup A: C - Horford PF - Amare SF - Marvin SG - Joe PG - Biibby??? Lineup A: C - Horford PF - Bosh SF - Marvin SG - Joe PG - Biibby???

  12. Resign Players: 1. Bibby: 4yr - $28M 2. Zaza: 4yr - $22M 3. Flip: 3yr - $11 4. Mario: 1yr - $1M Trades: 1. Acie + #19 to BOS for Rondo + #58 * HAWKS get stud playmaker @ PG in his rookie deal / BOS gets rid of Rondo (locker room issues), get Acie and gain a 2009 1st round pick 2. S&T Marvin + Speedy to NOH for Chandler * HAWKS get a defensive C / HORNETS gets young budding SF and Speedy exp to shed some cap Sign FA Players: 1. Chris "Birdman" Anderson: 3yr - $10M 2. I. Udoka: 2yr - $5M ROSTER C - Chandler / Zaza / Morris PF - Horford / Birdman / #58 or camp invite SF - Smoove / Evans / Udoka SG - Joe / Flip / Mario PG - Rondo / Bibby / FA or camp invite CAP With all players signed, traded, and drafted our total be in the range of $57-58M for the start 2009-10, which will allow us to keep Joe, Smoove, and Horford with solid role players and small cap room.

    Rajon Rondo

No! I think that it would probably take us out of serious playoff contention and put us toward the #7-10 seed area in the East for the 2-3 years. With that deal being done, Horford & Smoove would begin to grow disgruntled and management would be pressured to make another poor decision. The only good thing is that we would probably go back to being bad enough that management would have to let go of Woody - LOL!!! Seriously, Rondo would be great in a Hawks uni next year and he (being in his rookie deal) would be cheap enough for us to keep Bibby and re-sign Flip. That would give us a strong, versatile, championship-caliber PG rotation, unless Bibby would be dead set on a starting job. WHY would you need to trade Joe or Josh? Just think about the way Rondo and the havoc that he creates with his speed, penetration, and pin point passing. Joe's PPG, FG%, and 3PT% would all go back up AND HE COULD PLAY A COUPLE LESS MINUTES with some one like Rondo able to create plays in the clutch. THE DEAL THAT THINK WE SHOULD PUSH AT BOSTON WOULD BE: Rondo to ATL for the #19 pick!!! * BOS doesn't have a 1st round pick this year
  14. HOW ABOUT BLACK? These would be nice!!!!
  15. I'd love to be apart of anything that could communicate with the Hawks' organization.
  16. Jack - for 4yrs / $44M? Are you serious? $11M per? Tell me you're joking!!! That would be the worse overpaid signing in recent history... Flip - Flip should get a 3yr offer between $10-14M starting around $3M per....3yrs/$18M is too steep! Zaza - should get about 4yrs / $20-22M - starting around $4.5M per Bibby - should get about 3yrs / $16-18M - starting around $4.5M per
  17. WOODSON has instilled a defensive system here that gave the rebuilt Hawks a foundation, but he HAS TO GO...For as long as he's been here, he has always: 1. LACKED the ability to make key adjustments (critical in the playoffs) 2. NOT been able to use the bench and develop a solid 9-10 man rotation (critical in the playoffs) 3. HAD TROUBLE GETTING the most out the Hawks in games that they "should win" with as much talent/ability/versatility/dynamics this team has 4. LACKED the intensity on the sideline during games 5. BEEN ignorant when it comes to playing his key guys to their strengths consistently (Bibby in pick-n-roll / Joe off da ball, off screens, and curls / Josh slashing off curls, in the lane, cuts / Horford in pick-n-rolls, in post mix-matches) BOTTOM LINE: The Hawks are playing poorly against an "inferior" team (talent wise) and its FUKKIN EMBARRASSING!!! We get clowned as a pro basketball city for almost 10 years and then we finally have a solid season only to play Game 1 like it was the Championship. Now they are playing with no heart, intensity, and lack of focus. Woody is out coached by a rookie coach and a 1-man team that almost slipped out of even making the playoffs. Woody has been here long enough to have our team handle situations like this (especially at home) and he isn't. How can he have a head coaching job when a guy like Avery Johnson (fastest to win 100 games as a coach is out of coaching?

  19. Adonal Foyle - is a 6'10 vet and is a very strong, tough shotblocker/rebounder....He'd be very cheap and should be able to get some minutes off our bench...The most minutes he's played this year was 13 mins vs HOU where put up 4pts, 7 rebs, and 3 blks....That's the kind of active rebounding big we need off the bench along with Zaza's active offensive rebounding and scoring inside.... I think that move would be minor but could really turn out to be BIG for us at this point when you think about it....Because, you gotta have defense inside when you get into the playoffs and if we had a bench rotation of tough, active rebounders like Foyle and Zaza with scoring from Flip and Mo, I'd feel pretty good about playing any team in the East in the playoffs... WILL THE HAWKS EVEN LOOK AT PICKING HIM UP?
