Gray Mule
The New York Press apparently printed the obituary of the Atlanta Braves after the Mets won the first game of the three game series in Shea. Oops!! Back to back complete games by the Braves, some excellent defense and the big bats of the Braves kinda messed up things in the Big Apple, didn't it!! Smith and Jones having a great spring!! Smith for the Hawks and Jones for the Braves. Maybe the Braves just neded to be woken up and the N.Y. press did it. If so, thanks. Yeah, I know. Mets are still well ahead of the Atlanta boys. But, now you know. Braves are still alive and kicking!!!
Admin chillzatl Posted April 19, 2006 Admin Report Share Posted April 19, 2006 I'm sure those same reporters will now write about how the Mets are doomed and how they don't have a chance to even compete this year. That just shows you the reactionary ways of the NY media. One game and they were ready to crown the Mets NL East champs. But three games isn't what I consider well ahead. What we did was show them and everyone else that their pitching isn't all that and all those high priced bats can be shut down by good defense and good pitching. I am glad this series came along so soon. We've been scuttling a little bit and we needed something to wake us up and get us going. It looks like it worked. Francour is back, our pitching looks to be on track again and Andrew is the King of Atlanta. Chipper and Renteria should both be back soon and we can get on with the W's.
