July 21 -- On the strength of a Shelden Williams dunk with 2.7 seconds left, the Hawks squeaked out a thrilling 82-81 win to finish at 3-3 in the Rocky Mountain Revue.

Marvin Williams, who finished the RMR at a league-best 23.2 ppg, finished with 16 today, and assisted on the winning basket. Anthony Grundy also had 16, while Cedric Bozeman scored 11.
Shelden Williams totalled 8 points and 10 rebounds, along with 3 blocks.

NBA.com looks like it's just now putting the box score up, so we should be able to see it soon.

Good to see improvement from Shelden.

I wouldn't put Grundy over Ivey, but I cirtanly would like to have him. We will have a roster spot for him....

He brings the combonation of size and speed in a PG we don't have right now.

Ivey sucks period we wasted a pick on him , Grundy can defend something Ivey does'nt do. Hell my son is only 5 and he play's better D than Ivey ever will.

Royal Ivey is hands down the most underratted player on this site. Him, Joe Johnson, and maybe ZaZa were the only players last season who we could depend on to be consistant. Royal is a big, physical PG who plays aggresive defense and plays under control on offense. He may not have an offensive game, but if you find him an open jumper...He'll hit it.

I'm not saying Royal is a great player or anything like that, but he sure is reliable.

holy crap we must have watched a different player. The Royal Ivey I know shot the 3rd worst FG% on the team last year, and averaged 3.6 ppg. He was starting supposedly because he was a defensive specialist, but his defense sucked. Can't hit open shots either. I thought he has a lot of potential as a rookie, but this last year proved to me that he just doesn't have it.

just to clarify, I don't think he's useless. He can control the ball, and was (sadly) the closest thing to a distributor we had last year. But his D and ability to knock down jumpers are vastly overrated, and seemed to worsen from year 1 to year 2 in my opinion.

minutes were exactly the problem

when he played the first 5 minutes of every half, he shot and defended well imho

when other players got hurt, and they tried to play Ivey more, it was a disaster

it seemed he couldnt make a shot to save his life, and his defense went down the tubes as well

Everyone who kept calling Woody an idiot for playing Ivey 10 minutes a game must have taken a bit of a step back during that period :P

^ Ivey may be bad at a lot of things, but defense definately isn't one of them, man. Its all hes good at, lol.

I dont consider fouling a player playing defense.

mmm neither do I...however I think a good 85-90% of Ivey's fouls were either chippy to the point where any other player would NEVER get called for (don't get my bf started on that subject especially as far as Ivey is concerned)or they were just plain phantom calls by the refs...I myself thought one day night "what exactly does Ivey do out there??" and so I made it a point to watch him every time he was in the game which as we all know is like the first 3-5 minutes of both halves and he really gives an effort defensively I mean he gets down and puts his face in it which IMO deserves recognition...and although he's not in the game for his offense he seemed to make timely high percentage shots without forcing anything...I always didn't get why if the guy was specifically in there for his defense why he played like less than ten minutes a game on one of the worst defensive teams in the entire league...if he's SO GREAT defensively like the whole coaching staff would rave WHY ISN'T HE GETTING MORE MINUTES??? I really don't think it would of hurt ESPECIALLY during the two stints where TLue was sidelined

ofcourse with all that being said I don't care if he comes or goes
