I hate to be the board pessimist, but at 12-21, the Hawks have already dug a tremendous hole...Yes, they're only 5 games out of the 8th spot, but take a look at their schedule for the next few 10 days:

vs. Dallas

vs. Houston

vs. New Orleans

at Milwaukee

at Boston

at San Antonio

Two wins would be optimistic during that stretch, and would give them a record of 14-25. If it's fairly reasonable to assume that it will take at least 42 wins to get a playoff spot, then they would have to finish 28-15 (65%). Is that possible, considering that 10 of the first 13 games after the All-Star break are on the road? Personally, I think that the Hawks blew their chance at the playoffs with their numerous losses to "lesser" teams. I hope that I'm wrong, but I can say this for certain - the next ten games determine the Hawks' playoff fate...
